The eye on the trireme could be used as a wing sillouhhete, which is the most important part of that kind of vehicle. Otherwise it would just be a missle with fins.
Eeh... the sailors were not ON the deck, but BELLOW the deck. On the deck they were standing (AFTER the ramming) the "Marines", 10 Hoplites (heavy infantry with spears) and 4-6 bowmen.
@@lupusHegemonia Still if the ship is rocking just a bit due to waves you'd guess the Marines would fall into the water. the hoplites would most certainly drown due to the armor.
Just about to ask the same question. It’s hard to believe these ships weren’t more accommodating. I think our understanding of them are incomplete. The Phoenicians sailed all the way to the Atlantic and beyond as far north as England and down the western shores of Africa. Some say they even sailed to America and I personally believe the evidence that’s out there. Waves can get up to 20 feet and rogue waves can even reach 100 feet, hard to believe the deck had no railing whatsoever.
That's the first advertisement I've enjoyed in years.
wtf? i spend one and a half of minut thinking this is a historical documentary not advertisement
Got me too 😂
Bro we built this ancient ship for people to visit it and feel how Greek Navy was in the past....#proud_greek🇬🇷💪
Honestly, this tiny ad video is better than most of the mini docs on this topic.
Μου αρέσει τόσο πολύ η Ελλάδα και μαθαίνω και την ελληνική γλώσσα τώρα στο σχολείο και ακόμη και στο σχολείο τα μαθαίνω όλα αυτά

If I owned a ship I’d use that stuff

That was a wild video
No rails? How did the sailors not fall into the sea when the trireme rammed other vessels

Read The Athenian Trireme. It's all in there.
Phoenicians created it
Phoenicias created the bireme but not the trireme.
Phoenicians = Palestinians. But Zionists want to deny their existence, erase their culture and erase their history
Yep. Athenian.
