    hopefully they will come out with a 45 watt with the controls on the handset, that is the only reason I haven't upgraded to the 45 watt from the 15 watt. I really like the controls on the hand set. My kids give me a hard time and make fun of me but our whole family has GRMS radios in their vehicles and I always have a few hand helds to share. It makes traveling so much better.

    You finally got a mic! Sounds so much better, and I'm sure going forward all your videos will sound better. I've wanted to send you a comment about it forever now, but didn't feel it was my place... But good on you, great video as always!

      Thanks! I've been using a lav mic for my gear review videos for a while now.

      Ok, I must have missed it in your gear review videos. I've just noticed in your adventure videos that you don't use one, and I've always been curious why. I just started making videos a few months ago, and that was one of the first things I bought was a lav mic and voice recorder. It just makes such a difference. They're a pain for sure, and I wish dinnertime would make a mic with the cable designed to go inside your shirt, but...
      All the same, keep up the good work, we enjoy your videos, I don't miss any of them.

    This would post the day my midland shows up. Love my ham radio, but GMRS for the masses is the way to go. One day the FCC will do away with type certification or allow multiple certifications so you can talk on all the bands (with appropriate licensing of course) with only 1 radio installation.

      Would be super nice but I have to say it's hard to beat HAM communication. KT4RCH
      Personally seems annoying to have to pay for each license you would think that since you have to take a test for HAM and you don't for GMRS that you should be covered. Oh well though it is what it is they want their money lol.

    The fee is actually $70 for GMRS and is good for 10 years. I just got mine

    • @msubulldogdotcom

      The fee is set to drop to $35, but don't think the FCC has said when it will take effect yet.

    The connector in the back isn’t for. A mic it’s for a intercom, hook up. If you look at the pins it’s different

    hey, you think an Auxbeam 6 or 8 gang controller could run power to the GRMS radio? Select the sticker that is a radio and power it up. Right?

    The group I run with has a promo code with midland. Since your code and theirs is for the same % off which would you (or others on here) go with? Midland or rugged?

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  3 роки тому +2

      The Midland MXT400 is cheaper and served me well. the RR has a little more power. So far I've been happy with both.

    I don’t go out with groups, I do a lot of boondocking and overlanding. I’m looking for something for incase of an emergency to get help if needed. Is this the right way to go??

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Рік тому

      You want a Garmin InReach or Zoleo. They are satelite messengers. A GMRS radio won't do you much good if you're solo.

  • @sonnicman

    2:00 Oh you're looking for the FCC? This is the FAA we handle aircraft. FCC is the second office on the left after the FBI. If you reach CIA you've gone too far.
    I think for the general public, GMRS is now the way to go. Although highly cost-prohibitive, satellite radio hands down is the way to go if you absolutely HAVE TO reach someone in an emergency. For example, it's a backup in an aircraft in the event I lose all coms and need to communicate with air traffic control or god forbid I crash land and have to call for help.

  • @rp3823

    Well, if that wasn’t the easiest “install” ever. No notes on wire or cable gauge/ length, or voltage points. Just adhere a magnet, and you’re done. … I’m disputing the use of “install” in the title, as opposed to “modification” or adaptive “product review.” 🙃

    Are ya'll aware of the fines the FCC has received for selling radios that are not licensed for use on GMRS? Make sure if you have bought anything from them that it is properly certified for GMRS use. Don't rely on the outside box labeling.

  • @joerivs80
    @joerivs80 3 роки тому

    GMRS isn’t $35 yet. It’s still $70. The government passed it to be $35 but the FAA hasn’t lowered the price yet. Just FYI. Even $70 for ten years isn’t too bad anyways.

    Was going to buy a Rugged.....and then I learned that Rugged does not play well with others. Rugged only will talk to Rugged; it, apparently, is a proprietary thing. Rugged will not talk to Midland or Baofeng, ect. Yes, it's GMRS, but its Rugged GMRS. Someone please tell me that I'm wrong or provide proof otherwise? I've seen it with my own two eyes :/
