The Edible Fruit and Veg Hanging Basket - Grow Your Own Fruit and Vegetables Anywhere! #gardening
Today on Grow It I'm making a fruit and veg hanging basket which is the perfect project for anyone wanting to grow your own fruit and vegetables anywhere. I'll show you how to make a hanging basket, how to position the fruit and vegetable plants in the hanging basket, and how to fill the hanging basket. I'll also show you my handy garden tips for keeping hanging baskets watered, which is especially useful if you need to keep hanging baskets watered while on holiday.
In my fruit and veg hanging basket today, I put in cucumber, pumpkin, tomato, strawberry and lettuces to make the perfect hanging basket for visiting whenever you need fresh fruit and veg. You can even use this method to grow your own fruit and veg on an apartment balcony to make the most out of your growing space. Growing fruit and vegetables takes up a lot of floor space, so when space is at a premium, start growing upwards!

I use the bottle resavoire method too. I personally leave the lid screwed on but poke holes in it and put a bit of kitchen sponge in the neck of the bottle. It makes the bottle drip really slowly. I water the baskets and fill the resavoire in the morning and it slowly empties over about 4 hours or so.
I also have the bottle tied to the basket chains because mine are outdoor and it stops the wind from blowing them over.
Great content as always. Thanks for posting.
I was looking everywhere for a lid with holes in I have some from when I used the bottles for watering, I’ll have to make some more and I love the sponge idea that’s great!
Perfect thank you Barry I’m growing strawberries in hanging baskets and of course my pak choi and lettuces. Tried cukes last year I think they needed more attention than I gave them 😂😂. Have a great week 🐝 safe
Thanks Ali you too! I know I’m dreading keeping this going I feel like it’s going to be one of those that can be fine one day and dead the next!
@@GrowIt that made me giggle 🤭
Hi Barry, you really packed that hanging basket! I am very interested to see how that does. Starting to binge watch your videos after subscribing. All the best, Audrey
Thanks Audrey, I appreciate that! I definitely feel like I’m pushing my luck with all of that in there but it’ll be worth it either way! Keep up the good work on your channel too it’s really taking off!
Don’t keep me in suspense!! How did the basket grow and how much produce did you get?? #newsubscriber. #itwastheaccent 😂
Sorry Laurel your comment was held for review for some reason! A swarm of rats destroyed everything last summer so I’m having to do it all again this year!
Thank you
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
What was wrong with the compost this year, ours was awful too, water just rolls off it and things just didn’t grow that well
It’s been rubbish hasn’t it! I think they’ve cut a corner somewhere
❤ 🍓 🍓 🍅🍅 🥬🥬 🥒🥒
I'd put a Bush pea in the middle for nitrogen
That’s a great idea!
