The saddest thing is that even at that time when Vfx was not available the directors still managed to make audience engaging and good but now in 2018 when everything is available we get to see really childhish scenes like for eg Mr X,Thugs of Hindustan,Mohenjodaro etc
Shashi Kapoor has been ahead of his time, he surprises me.
So true
Go for a pre-1965 Meena Kumari film. Esp. 'Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam' or 'Chitralekha' ; or even 'Benazir' with Shashi Kapoor himself. You'll know why she is his fav actress, and as ahead of her times.
Ambitious but not box office success are sadly the words defining Anurag Kashyap movies
Sayantan Banerjee
I agree
which film of his would you describe as ambitious?
@@ivan_nagar GOW,Raman Raghav 2.0,Bombay Velvet,Black Friday and No-Smoking
@@manishavashi1901 firstly gangs of wasseypur was very profitable at the box office, secondly it was not 'ambitious' as that term is usually used to describe a film with a large budget or sprawling concepts none of which hold true for any of those apart from Bombay Velvet
@@manishavashi1901 most of his films are small indies not 'ambitious' films
Gunda was ambitious as well as financially successful. A true masterpiece
Lol
Bili ka doodh pi kr aaya hai tu hehehehe...😜 just kidding dil pr mtt liyo
Wtf 😁😁😂😂😂
it was pinnacle of all cinema
😂👌
Amrapali was an awesome movie. It was little bit lengthy but the performance by Vaijayantimala was commendable. She was real soul of the movie and her dance performances were feast to eyes so the songs were epic.
@kamal ks , So u mean to say that only SAFE OLIVE KHAN (the stylish name of SAIF ALI KHAN ) is the only KAHN( actor of the 90's era) who is worth being considered to still act in today's latest BOLLYWOOD movies and compete with the Varun Dhawans , Siddharth Malhotras , Ranveer Singhs , Shahid Kapoors and Ranveer Kapoors of today ????
"Kagaz Ke Phool" By Guru Dutt was Also classic And Voted Top100 Movies Of all time By TIME magazine. ...... Movie Was So Ahead of its Time that its subject and look So much Original on Present Day.. Sadly It Flopped Badly
Indian movie goers are just not used to watching experimental cinema. And you cannot blame them. We usually try to find escapism in cinema. For decades Bollywood is shoving romance down our throat. That's why a film like Inception just cannot be made in India.
Utsav (1984) based on poet Bhasa's Charudatta and Shudraka's Mrichhakatikam; having some of the finest story telling, set designs, background score and evergreen songs like 'Sanjh dhale gagan tale' and 'Mann kyun beheka re beheka'; featured an ensemble cast of Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Shekhar Suman, Amjad Khan, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and so on... And yet, it failed to capture audiences of the times.
Available online, this classic is absolute treat for both Sanskrit and Historic / Period drama lovers!
Aishwarya rai was the first choice for playing mumtaaz mahal in the movie taj mahal directed by akbar khan
I am really worried about Manikarnika..the queen of Jhansi
she will be fine bidita.. relax
@@arbzshk still m worried a lot
IDAF
Her expressions tho 😂😂
Why? Did you invest your money in the film's production?
Why do period films always end up being disastrous, lol.
Beacuse indians do not like history. Neither in study nor in entertainment.
Gunda dekhi hai kbhi ???
because they like bs masala movies
Becoz social sciences are given the least priority in our education system. 😞
There are other language period movies in India which are much much better....
Awsm...in one word just awsm...keep going like this...plz make a video on every regional best 10 movies...
That will be the longest video on TARP*
You explore a lot of old films that were gems.... continue doing this
I think the image of Sunil dutt taken in song of om shanti om was from Amrabali
amiarooba yes
Really great video. Keep up the good work!
Thugs of Hindustan is the new entry in the list.
Good flim but lost financially not bad flim lost financially
Next on this list should be thugs of Hindustan 😜
You should review Siyaasat (based on Empress Nur Jahan and Jehangir) , it’s on prime
Amarpali was truly a fine movie I would watch it many times over. Kind of like Ashoka type story.
But compared to Mohanjodaro and SRK Ashoka this is much better movie.
A video released one day after the previous one, damn Anmol, you are fast. 😮😮
But still 2 songs from Taj Mahal movie..1. Mumtaj tujhe dekha.. 2. Apni zulfein mere.. sung by The Hariharan... are just awesome...
true
Agreed
Exactly. Gem of songs composed by Naushad Sahab. 🙏
I had even given multiple singing performances on "Apni Zulfen" and parents still love those songs.
I still remember mumtaaz tujhe dekha was my ringtone that time....
sardar movie is one of masterpiece 👌👌
Nice to see you after a long time . do you hav any account on fb or twitter ?
The real appreciating thing is you do research for your videos which is very rare and the information provided by you in the videos is simply spectacular..... movie buffs likes your videos so much......
Sardar is a must watch movie :)
Even Gunda also
Yes, it happens sometimes that ambitious projects fail miserably.... But d movie 'Sardar' is a must watch.. one of the best performance by Paresh Rawal 👌🎬
This is a lot of effort and time invested.. Kudos!👏
Please make a video on Movies/TV Shows based on English/ Hindi Novels😀😀.
Why from the past few weeks comments are full of gunda😂😂😂😂..
Because it is a true masterpiece..
Lol
But i haven't seen it yet😢
@@rohanmishra4517 ohhh then u r missing one of the greatest movie of all tym.. Plss watch it bro! Make ur lyf memorable😁😁😁
It's his favourite movie,no questions why it's his favourite it's a true masterpiece
I had the same question
@@raniakriti4449 😅
I remember seeing the Taj Mahal movie trailer on tv way back when I was a kid. Back then that was the only way movies were advertised now they have many mediums thanks to social media before all the trailers on movies in cinemas or soon to be launched were showcased in between shows so I don't get the argument that the production company didn't advertise it when that was the most they could do.
Really wish you would list the films with their dates afterwards below with your notes, it would help a lot.
Can you do a video on some of your favourite Indian epic films?
Where is roop ki rani choron ka raja?
Thank you so much for refreshing the memories of Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story !! It had some melodious songs. Naushad sahab's last work I think!!
1Cr of 1953 is equal to how much in 2019???
I think 43 crore 25 lakhs
That's a lot
Seeing how at that time transaction were made in paisa and not rupee but now paisa is extinct, money should have raised at least 100 times. So 1 cr will be equal to a minimum of 100 cr.
Around 100 Cr... There are online tools to find inflation adjusted monetary value. Look it up!!
@@PriyadarsheePDash yes it can become like that because i did not calculate the value of doller in 1956 as it was complex i only calculated with the respect of inflation
Manikarnika will be successful because it is written by bahubali writer vijayendra prasad ..i am sure kangana will do justice to the role ..she is after all 3 times national award winner... lets see.. there are reportedly 3-4 songs and classical dance numbers... so if they go SLB way in marketing..then there is a very high chance that it will attract masses. Lets hope for highest grossing female centric film..its time!
Irrelevant comment but hey are you a fan of Antonio too?
@@chandanakashyap3830 yaaaassssss
Taj Mahal- an eternal love story is unavailable on any streaming sites or on dvd.I never got the chance to watch it since it has disappeared.
Can you go something like “bold tv series” or something like a tribute to a specific actor
The mindset of people in the 90s was dumb...they just loved cheesy and stupid Love Stories and that is why movie like sardar was not financial success. It's the failure of the audience and not the film
Plz make one video on one of the best directors of India
BAT ASS you are back haha..
Wow! You have a Race 3 free comment.
Viktor Vijay Krishna Acharya hai best director
If it is a count down for India, not Bollywood, then I will say Satyajit Ray.💖💖
SLB,Imtiaz Ali,Karan Johar,Deepa Mehta,Vishal Bharadwaj,Nagesh Kukounoor,Yash Chopra
Brother please make a video about Waisa Bhi hota hai. Toota Toota ek parinda aise toota ki fir jud na paya.
You mean Allah ke bande song
@@abhijeetmohapatra8570 yes bro Allah ke bands song is in that movie.
Mughal-e-azam was both ambitious as well as successful
Hatif Zuhair It's a legend in its own right.
Hatif Zuhair , Had K.Asif included in the theatrical version of Mughal-e-Azam , the deleted comedy scene featuring Akbar , Tansen, Birbal and the Shah of Persia in the theatres, THEN Mughal-e-Azam would hv been even a bigger hit than the legendary, evergreen, immortal blockbuster it is today !
Hatif Zuhair, thank u very much for liking this comment of mine but the fact is this deleted scene that I'm talking about was in the DVD as well as blue-ray versions of Rangeen Mughal-e-Azam movie , both of which r lying in my cousin's house showcase in Central Mumbai !!!!
Great video, but you accidentally called Rani Lakshmibai as Jhansi. Anyhoo, I like your channel alot. Keep it up!
You forgot JP Dutta's late 2003 multi-starrer big budget musical war film " LOC (LINE OF CONTROL, KARGIL )" which had a budget of 55 crores THEN and which bombed at the box-office , even though the film show-cased many historically correct facts accurately !!!!
Gunda movie dekh kar Christopher Nolan inspired Hua hoga 😂😂😂😂😂😂
True😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your Narration is amazing. The voice is really appropriate for narration.
Really amazing concept 👌👌❤
Great video....!!
You Know If These Movies Except For Taj Mahal Has Been Remade Or Rereleased In Bollywood Then They Would Became An Blockbuster In Theatres!!!!!!!Because These Movies Are Still Relevant In Today's Time!!!!!!!!
Bro make a video on most underrated singer of Bollywood
Thank you for always showing great content
Can you make a series of videos related to remakes please.
Lot of the guys think Bollywood is remaking South movies for past few years only, but the trend was started long time back.
This is evident from the times of Jitendra and Anil Kapoor.
Infact, half of Anil Kapoor’s movies in his initial days were a South remake.
Do you think this can be a subject to explore?
Looking at the faces of the Taj Mahal actors makes you wanna sleep....no wonder it tanked.
Audiences can identify who can act and who cannot....
Perhaps the career of akbar khan deserves a case study
He is the third khan brother after feroze and sanjay khan
He has announced some big time projects which are promoted including TV series and movies
Yet everything has failed miserably
Also thanks for inspiring a fellow UA-camr man.
Plx watch my song video too
ua-cam.com/video/GyPzYhWzuwo/v-deo.html
Amrapali, was a real cinematic masterpiece. Amazing acting by Vajyantimala and Suneel Dutt, beautiful songs and a good storyline.
I really appreciate your work. I like to watch good movies irrespective of era, language or industry... anyways I am fond of our b/w movies too... as per your appeal I watched dharamputra... its a outstanding movie and way ahead of its time, rili liked it.. thanks!
Mehtab playing the role of a young "Jhansi"?!?! And that means?
Dharm-putra theme and the 1 dialogue that is shown in this video is more relevant now in 2019..... and such movie can be remade again today ... and it might get commercial success too......
I am just waiting for manikarnika how kangana will justify the role of jhansi.🤔
You forgot one movie Gandhi my father. It's an awesome movie
Most of them are epic period dramas. Moral of the story, don't mess with epic period films. 😜😝😛
The Shashi Kapoor produced Ajooba was also a big BO disaster
What's with the upload spree???
But not complaining 😍
Period / Historical movies are never successful at the box-office since the social sciences (especially history) are given the least priority in our education system. 😕😕😤😤
I was expecting *Thugs of Hindustan* in the list...
But later I realized the title says "Movies you have no Idea about"..
So only unpopular movies in the list.
The movies are :
Jhansi ki Rani
Sardar
Taj Mahal : An eternal love story
Dharmputra
Amrapali
Ambitious movies expectation: Blade Runner 2049, Iron Man, Pirates of the Carabbean, Toy Story.
Reality: Love story 2050, Krrish 3, Thugs of Hindostan, Motu Patlu movies.
Please make some video on shocking bollywood affairs.....
Audience can be so ruthless and senseless sometimes
Please do "child actors who were forgotten"
Aamrapali sure had Brilliant & Super Impressive Dance Choreography 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have seen sardar when I was in school our teachers took us on children's day
No smoking and also the unforgettable Bombay Velvet both by Anurag Kashyap.
'Amrapali ' was inaccurate at so many levels- not only historically, but also textually(it was based on Acharya Chatursen's novel ' Vaishaali ki Nagarvadhu'). It's said to have been conceived in that phase where the film's director Lekh Tandon was smitten by Vyajantimala, and ended up giving her most of the focus. This very approach to the story didn't go well with the critics. Also, considering the fact that Amrapali (or Ambapali) was a 'nagarvadhu' or a royal courtesan- she didn't just twirl her way into the kingdom after winning a dance competition- as the film suggests. There was a much darker truth behind it, of child-trafficking back in the Buddhist era. The original story never shies away from the topic, nor did the film's predecessor 'Chitralekha'(1964).
Kabir Khan's Tubelight and Phantom could have been one in this list, too......I think.
Very well presented 👏👏👏
Damn.. Vyjantimala was hott !!!
The curves and the bootie !
Bombay Velvet is way too ahead of it's time in India, it was internationally a big hit but is a cult movie in India
Sword of Tipu Sultan was not produced by Akbar Khan but by Sanjay Khan.
How about the original Agneepath?? That tanked too
Make a video of films having a successful soundtrack
Bro your English is just outstanding.
Starting Soundtrack..
i want that
2:14 the queen's name was Lakshmibai and not Jhansi
Lovely Jammy
Irony is that Dharamputra would be still controversial in 2018 as well. Will we ever change?!
Sardar was a classic movie and showcases the harsh truth of how Sardar Patel did everything he could still was told to step down from the race to become first PM of Independent India by Mahatma Gandhi.
Please provide streaming link for the movies..
No smoking 😓😓😓
I have seen some of these and must say that I loved vyjayanthimala in amrapali
The 1950 movie is extremely thought provoking and just the one scene of the movie it pulled my heart strings i would really love to see this movie
Shashi Kapoor & Yash Chopra Are Those Peoples Who Always Break Barriers In Bollywood With Their Impressive Work In Movies!!!!!!!!!At Least These Peoples Have That Guts To Make Those Realistic Movies Which Are Still Relevant In Today's Time!!!!!!!!
Darshana Subhedar Yashji won his first national award for best director for this film.
Oh Thanks For This Valuable Information & Also A Big Thanks For Supporting My Comment!!!!!!!
Sanjay Khan... Not Akbar Khan made the serial The Sword of Tipu Sultan. Akbar Khan made Akbar The Great... which was never completed it's 1st run.
guzaarish ambitious but flop. mostly all aishwarya rai movies are ambitious but flop. action replay for example .
Not all..Some like Guzarish,Action Replay,Shabd etc..
@@aseemaprakash2326 : raincoat, provoked , sarbjit, umrao jaan.........all these are ambitious but flop. even Raavan is ambitious but average. even iruvar was ambitious but flop. the list goes on n on.........
@@ritushukla9284 I won't count Raincoat because that is an art house cinema..Provoked was a hit. Sarabjit mayn't be a big hit but financially successful...UmraoJaan wasn't a great movie, you may count it. Raavana was too successful, the Hindi version wasn't appreciated by Critics but Tamil one was liked...Iruvar flopped cause of political turmoil, otherwise that is a great great movie with 8.6 IMDb rating...that is why Shobha De,a senior journalist said Aishwarya hasn't got her due as an actress.
I had watched amrpali and jhansi ki rani...both are marvellous movie..
And will watch all others too.. Bcoz if u are telling Dan these movie would me worth watching
Razia Sultan was the most ambitious project but a big flob again Love and God met the same fate for same reasons
I thought Amrapali was a hit movie, back in late 90's it was on TV multiple times like Sooryavansham
Hey ,make a video on biggest disappointments of 2018 .
I really appreciate u
Plzz best debut movies
Biswaranjan Sahoo Hrithik Roshan ♥️ in Kaho Na Pyar Hai
