Hands down to Shabhana Azmi. Most of her movies are actually thought provoking and way ahead of their time
Tamasha wasn't exactly ahead of its time. It's quite contemporary, undoubtedly one of Ranbir's most underrated movies. I absolutely love it.
Margarita with a straw was truly a masterpiece. Although it failed at the box office, it's still nice to see that it got many awards

deepanshu gupta The expressions when I get when I tell people that I am not a crazy hollywood fan and watch a lot of Indian movies is hillarious because the poor souls dont't know what Indian Cinema is, proud of myself for watching most of the above listed films and will soon watch the rest.
deepanshu gupta 5
deepanshu gupta I have seen most of it especially after the arrival of Netflix and Amazon it's become easy to find these gems out of the garbage of Masala cinem
deepanshu gupta you have awesome choice
I have seen thess films except 2-3
I love bollywood and i only see hollywood movies recommended by my brother..
I am happy that i am not weird because many people dont like these films
"differently able" your choice of word is so good.
And difficult also.sometimes I use dictionary even.😄
Bro, U missed the Karthik Calling Karthik movie, the movie is not that splendid but yes the concept of Dual Personality and Sub conscious mind engraved with suspense and thrill was way ahead for the people to understand the concept. From acting, to direction, to writing, was perfect in the movie, the only prob was it was released in 2010, where the audience were not ready to accept such a tricky subplot.
that was copied, not original
@abhik that movie was copied too from one of the Hollywood movie
I don't exactly remember it's name but for sure kck copied that movie
Abhik Modi
Phobia is first .no compitor
Abhik Modi I dont think 2010 people were not accepting such movies ...i lovd karthik calling karthik coz i cam relate to it as i hv seen such patients ...its tat public r used to melodrama rather than reality ...
have u watched movies like Fight club or split they r too good actor did brilliant act
mera naam joker was heartbreakingly beautiful ! and lamhe is one of my fave love stories
Ship of Theseus is basically the best Bollywood can ever be at portraying any content matter .
Rocket Singh sales man of the year should be on the list.
i just watched that for about the 10th time yesterday - it's so good which makes me feel awful that it didn't get the success it deserved
I badly wish to watch this film but I can't download it... please send me the link if it's feasible for u...I shall be truly greatful.
suneet saxena You can download the movie because it is available in internet.
suneet saxena tv me bahot baar de raha he
after the torrent is gone, i can't find good links
Aamir Khan's Raakh (1989) also starring Pankaj Kapoor, the first neo-noir style thriller. Aamir khan was only 2 movie old. trailer is available in UA-cam.
Bring us more forgotten masterpieces from the dust bins of time
fire is indeed a masterpiece!
One of the best...
Rituporno Ghosh's movies are also underrated, I guess
The whole element trioligy is a masterpiece
Real title should be "Top 10 underrated films of all time"
your title is suitable if you pick movies like pyaasa, citizen kane
Vivek Joshi same though dude
Jaane bhi do yaaro is a exceptional film that everyone should watch. I loved the scene where nasseruddin Shah a photographer with his partner and a reporter are trying expose corrupt person who has taken a contract to build a highway. Actors like Satish Shah ,Ravi boswani,Om puri and Satish Kaushik have done a commendable job in this movie.
Thank god that someone mentioned Margarita With A Straw. I thought I was the only one who had watched and enjoyed the movie.
3 walls (Teen Deewaren) by Nagesh Kukunoor
Very underrated and way ahead of its time
It was inspired from Shawshank redemption
Very good video, except for mera-naam-joker, good theme though if were made by someone like mrinaal sen or satyajit ray or shyaam benegal, would have been a hit with at least the matured, art appropriators. The ship of theseus was understood by almost all of those who watched it. I still don't regret watching it. It's an amazing movie.
Manorama six feet under?
Navin Sharma can't agree more manorama should be in this list
Couldn't agree more
i think "parched" should be in the "honorable mention" category
It was just a blue sex movie
@@NareshKumar-xp4ol You high or what?It was pure cinema.
@@sarthakparashar3695 chal chutiya
@@NareshKumar-xp4ol jaa na chomu
you are getting better than best day by day.. keep it up.. 👌
Thank God. At least there are any movie that you love in Bollywood 🤣🤣.
Tamasha has devastated the list.
By the way I watched ❝zubaida❞.It's beyond captive.
All the best.
Khamoshi The Musical was wayyyyyy ahead of its time (1996)
due to your hard work I get to know soooooo many facts of Bollywood.. keep up the good work
So glad u mentioned Tamasha. Not many people understood the storytelling by Imtiaz Ali. Hands down one of the best Bollywood movie in recent times
Try making video on famous actors living and working with chronic illness. People will get motivated by knowing how the actors are carrying their life smoothly inspite of the illness.
awesome video... people shud understand our Indian gems...more movies are there, make another part
no smoking was a brilliant movie
graceful snow yes it was a perfect movie!! just takes you to another world
I never knew Stephen King had that book.
Truly a masterpiece , perhaps the best Bollywood ever produced.
I still don't understand no smoking
wow....gr8 to see khamosh in the list....the most underrated movie ever.....awesome work guys....gr8 research
Though I have already watched most of these movies, yet you increased my wish list,,,,,thanks Jammy !
Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women
It made me shudder. It displays a society which we can never live in yet are constantly degrading ourselves to.
every decade has its ahead-of-its-time movies.recently i saw an underrated gem called swami.made in 1977, inspired by a saratchandra chattopadhyay novel, it deals with infatuation and marriage so smartly and profoundly.modernity is not about clothes and ambience, it is about attitudes.
ship of Theseus is my favorite indian movie.
Totally agree about Kaagaz Ke Phool.
Btw in Khamosh, Naseeruddin Shah's character is not a.detective but an army officer. He comes to the location to investigate his sister's (Soni Razdan) murder.
I love your Pronunciation TRP ❤❤ and the research you do to make such interesting videos. Love you❤❤
Damn you gave "Om Dar Ba Dar" just an Honorable mention? That movie is still way ahead of any foreseeable future..
'Ijaazat' a movie by Gulzar should be in list. Not only the movie but it's songs (Choti si kahani se, Barishon ke paani se, Mera kuch Samaan e.t.c) are way ahead of it's time.
Dor directed by nagesh kuknoor should have got place in this list. Ty for another nice list
These films look amazing! I absolutely loved Kaagaz ke Phool, and Lamhe. I should love to see the others.
I think om dar ba dar should be on top, as it was made in 1988 but released in 2014 and still way ahead of time!!
Great work!
I love your channel. Thank you for this list. :)
can u do a top great movies that were banned by pahlaj nihlani
ravi kiran the count would go beyond 100 😂😂
ram pandya yes the list would be infinitely long
Can't there be a list with all good movies which were appreciated by the audience too?
Jammy you are awesome 👌 👌
♥ i love watching your videos 😍
Best of luck... ❤️
This list is incomplete without Mother India. In terms of technique, it was so far ahead of anything in Bollywood during its time.
Agreed....
There should be movies like Matrubhoomi,Mr. and Mrs. Iyer
LAKSHYA and SWADES...They should be in the list..
Hats off to ur content n level of research n i would like to add few name in this rhihai..i think one of its kind who talks about women sensuality..n my favourite ardhsatya

U forgot Chandi Bar
Thanks
Thank God you mentioned Om Dar Ba Dar ! love you ty !
Kamal swroop's Om dar Badar (*1988) is best cinematic piece i have ever seen , It's even before The David lynch's Mullholland drive (2001).
Every Indian should watch this film to know what wonder can Indian cinema do.
Add a few more
Libaas (banned by government)
Chetna and Astha (two movies about women who ends up as sex worker, sadly the entire marketing was based to make them look like soft porn and makes you cringe every time they are referred as the same)
Lekin , came around the same time as rudali
Khamoshi - released during the same years when nana patekar became mainstream with krantiveer
Great sir🙏
Lakshya should have been at least in honourable mention.
ram pandya again what was context of lakshaya’s story that was ahead of its time. It was a pretty average film.. same for dil chahta hai
i couldn't get ship of Theseus. please make a video and explain this movie. m really wanna that video. i hope you'll do.
I wrote an explanation in my comment on the below video. Might help you with the explanation until we get a video from tried and refused production. Check it out!
ua-cam.com/video/yYTXwCmCwxs/v-deo.html
parzania..movie...must watch to know the reality of godhra incident and Gujarat riot 2002
fantabulous..Best one till date
Andaz apna apna
Rocket Singh
Phir Milengey
Thanks Maa
Matrubhoomi
I absolutely loved margarita with a straw the story, acting specially kalkins acting was really good and she did absolutely justice to her character. While watching this movie I forgot it was a Bollywood movie.
thank you, tamasha was brilliant
Mera Naam Joker is my favorite also. It looks like my story being told in different chapters.
Another of my favourite Raj Kapoor creations is "Ram Teri Ganga Maili", where a lady "Actress Mandakini" replaces the river Ganga and a story about how a pious and pure Ganga faces or carries the abuses humans give her on her way to Kolkata where her journey ends after much tough life.
Not "Dil Se" on the list? ha, that cute...
Please mention the name of the films in your description in future videos
Filhaal definitely especially for Indian cinema back in 2002 there's a taboo topic involved.,..
Maybe tamasha did actually have a great concept and moral but it wasn't executed too well and I don't speak for others but for me a lot of it was quite producing! Also I don't understand how tamasha is way ahead of its time? There's many meaningful films like this in Hollywood for over the past 2 decades.
Finally a list I can completely agree with.
Good List but could have also included the movie "Guide" which was also way ahead of its time
Sadly we just dont get amazing actors like Naseerudinshah and Shabana Azmi.. the indian film industry has just been left wanting...
Can you please make a video about Roy? That movie is severely underrated and misunderstood.
Bro you missed 16 December it was one of the best attempt to make spy thriller in India which was way ahead of time
johnny gaddar should've been given at least an honourable mention .
please make a video on
10 topics on which one movie should be made in Bollywood
Tamasha was something that people don't understand and won't still
My fav movie Silsila was also way ahead of its time....it didn't fare well at the bo but is now regarded as a classic.
It's sad how movies like these don't do well at the box office.... Whereas stupid movies like Ek Tha Tiger and Happy New Year makes box office records
THODA SA ROOMANI HO JAYE is a classic and I think you must cover this movie sometime
Mera Naam Joker was a massive box office blockbuster hit in USSR & China.
There are some black and white films like Didi(1959) and Jeet(1949) which deserve to be in this list
Fire....really such a masterpiece..
can you make some videos on the topic ..best top 10 heist movies made in india or by bollywood
Please do a video on explaining ' No Smoking'
Honourable mention should have been for Guru Dutt's "Jaal" (1952) starring Dev Anand and Geeta Bali which was way ahead of its time.
Apparently Salman Khan said that when he looked back at Andaz Apna Apna (1994), he felt that it was ahead of its time and that if it had been released in 2004-05, it would've been a hit.
How is Tamasha 'ahead of its time'? A lot of comments asking where is Dil Chahta Hai. I feel Dil Chahta Hai was very much a movie of its time. It came at the right time.
A Death in Gunj could be on this list as well as Buddha in a Traffic Jam.!
Very nice video.
Buddha in a traffic jam is so so relevant.
pls pls pls pls pls do a video on why Bollywood need to adapt more forms of follow up like
spin off
prequel
midquel
interquel
successcer
like hollywood pls pls and also universe system
like tv show bates motel set in universe of psyco
Mannu Sharma mostly our producers are afraid to invest in those types of movies.. Filmmakers are willing to n capable to make those movies.. N also our audience is the problem
Do one on best directorial debuts.
Plz make a video on NFDC movies . They are gems in indian cinema
truly awesome
beautiful collection....
you forget "oye lucky, lucky oye"
Plz do Top Visually Stunning bollywood movies
this list would have been incomplete without "Ek Doctor ki Maut'" movie.. This movie is still far ahead of our time...Best oscar oriented movie..Glad you added this movie..
Some movies I think that should have been in the list are - Manorama Six Feet Under, Being Cyrus, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani... The last one was one of SRK's biggest flops, mainly because the audience could not relate to the portrayal of media sensationalism at that point of time, which I think is very relevant in today's world. Otherwise a great collection, I love your videos.
मुझे याद है जब नो स्मोकिंग रिलिज हुई थी मैंने अपनी मित्र सेकहा था की ये फिल्म १० साल बाद रिलीज होनी थी।यही हाल तमाशा का भी हुआ।।btw your list is too perfect for this segment.hats off to you.
Guide should also be a part of it, and Mandi.
Please give informations like this about hollywood movies
can you make you list for best underrated psychological thriller movies
You could add Kabhi alvida naa kehna in honourable mentions...
Even "Hare Rama Hare Krishna" was way ahead of its time. The Hippie counterculture group was first shown in Indian cinema by Dev Anand in this movie.
Bro can you tell where we can catch these movies
Khamoshi & Dil Chahta Hai kidhar hai ??
