A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician, on the road at age 17 for two years, then went part-time ever since, while holding day careers including chef and spiritual health care while raising a family.
As a producer I've made hundreds of my own songs for media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, performing in International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I mostly abandoned the prog genre in the 90s but have returned to it now with vigour 30 years later. So much prog! My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i detoured into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk / acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electronic as well).

@@AdisonVinez-ww7le en relidad el tema lo grababan en argentina creo ennunos estudios en el viaje no recuerdo si les robaron las ocarinas o se extrabiaron por lo que tubieron que grabar el tema sin las ocarinas.
This piece is so cool. A crazy thing about this era of Los Jaivas is they were very invested in not listening to contemporary music, as they thought this would pollute their cereativity. They are like prog from a parallel universe! Yet there are still some sounds that resemble anglo prog bands from the era. The final part is just so heavenly, it feels so comforting.

Having seen YES about 20 times… ELP etc. Los Jaivas rank way up there and hold their own in artistry and talent! Heavily influenced by Folk genre a la Jethro Tull and as inspiritual as YES.. btw I am Chilean as they are… side note, I saw YES at MSG NY and days later Los Jaivas at Carnegie Hall NY in the 80’s..
Los Jaivas NEVER have been infuenced from nobody. They shut off the radio about 3 years for improvised sessions until 1971 when they published their first album called "El Volantín".

True, not influenced by anyone!… what I meant was those bands were contemporaries, however Folk Music was the impetus needed to elevate and showcase their talent, the only inevitable conclusion is the wonderful product we presently enjoy… Progressive Rock did not define Los Jaivas in their day, the title did not exist!… I heard the term Symphonic Rock being applied, in my opinion there are parallels between both titles…. Then again as a young man I called it Goood shiit!

a fact there are two bands in the world that have never been separated are still in force and playing, The Rolling Stones formed in April 1962 and Los Jaivas (origin of the name Los Jaivas, originally the band was called "The High Bass" and they played tropical rhythms such as Cumbia and other danceable rhythms, they generally played at University Festivals, over time the name was distorted until it reached Los Jaivas) formed in the middle of 1963.

Lo que dices de la mariposa y el pavo real es tan preciso. Gran parte del rock progresivo y mucha musica "clasica" del siglo xx buscaba los limites de los colores, de la belleza y las posibilidades. Me identifica con mi propia forma de componer en mi proyecto "Azvaisan". El musico crea estas catedrales, o simples miniaturas de oro para mostrartelas y llevarte por un viaje sonoro y una experiencia inmersiva. A mi me emociona mucho la musica, por eso valoro mucho cuando cada detalle fue esculpido con majestuosidad, dedicacion y un serio compromiso con la obra.
De Los Jaivas, te recomendaria el album "Obras de Violeta Parra", que es la cumbre segun ellos mismos de su compromiso creativo.

Aquí el piano es la base de canción. Cuanta la leyenda que cuando Los Jaivas fueron a tocar a Londres se acercó a los camarines Ginger Baker a felicitar a Gabriel Parra. Tarka y Ocarina en vivo es genial, hay versión en vivo del Teatro Municipal de Santiago, otra que conozco en Teatro Caupolicán. Juanita es maravillosa en batería, tiene su estilo. Me parece que en tu primera reacción no te gustaba (creo haber entendido en el traductor) el sonido del bajo? Que piensas ahora?

Una banda unica en su originalidad, tuvo mucho exito especialmente en Francia a mediados de los 70's. El piano y la bateria es, en mi opinión, el nivel mas alto en cuanto a tecnica en una banda donde todos se destacan. La ecualización de la guitarra y su sonido sin ataque es lo único que podría criticar de esta mítica banda.
Si te gustan las buenas lineas de bajo, deberías escuchar "Irregular" 7.40 min de lo mejor que puedas escuchar, el año es 1974, y la banda Invisible. Primer álbum de la mejor banda de un tal Luis Alberto Spinetta en sus 40 años de músico.

Do Arco Iris a prog rock group from Argentina early /late 70´s with folk and jazz elements much more interesting than the famous pastiche named Los Jaivas .....They had an Opera in 1973 ......... so many forgotten Argentine groups from that era , Alma y Vida ( brass band ) , La cofradia de la Flor Solar ( proto psych hard prog ) , The glorious Manal ( react to their first single from 1968 !!! ahead from their time) , Color Humano ( Hard rock prog ) Om totally prog instrumental , Bubu ( RIO madness ) Alas (prog with some tango elements ) ,Generacion cero ( tango prog ) , Sanata y Clarificacion , Jorge Lopez Ruis ¨De Prepo¨ (jazz prog ) Chivo Borraro ( more psychodeliv jazz prog ¨.).....yeah you will do Spinetta of course as everybody ..... but you are missing so many stuff ...from that era
