2012 Olympics is probably Serena's best tournament of her career. She was untouchable in that event. Didn't lose more than 3 games in a single set played and never dropped a set!

Easily her most efficient tournament. The final against Sharapova gets all the credit for being the best match, but imo it was actually her 3rd or 4th best match of that tournament.
The truly great players played their best at slams.

2013 Serena on clay was a force of nature. After finally dedicating serious time to the surface, she began delivering some of the highest quality performances a woman ever had on the surface. One can only wonder how much more she could’ve achieved on clay had she focused on it like she did 2013-2016, a 4-year spam in which she won it twice, made and final with her only losses coming to Muguruza, who was at her peak.

It's crazy to see how much faster Serena was in 2021 compared to 2022 and that's saying something considering she was well past her final winning year of 2017.
I mean she hardly played and probably realized she wasnt going to win another slam... Thats the only reason she kept playing anyways...m so effectively i think she already retired months ago
She was getting her speed back at the USO but it’s a little silly to expect someone who just recovered from a severe hamstring injury to be running around the court with abandon after not playing for an entire year.
She'd gained a lot of weight and stopped playing for the most part! I think her return in the summer was for marketing purposes only!

Her behavior simply was too off-putting.
2013 really has to be Serena's championship match at the US Open. 75 67 61 vs Azarenka. And a close second was her QF vs Kuznetsova at the French Open -- the only match wherein she lost a set in an otherwise dominant French Open title run.
2022 now is probably Serena vs Kontaveit, that point at 4-2 AD in the third set still lives in my head rent free

I don't think these are Serena's best match wins per year, probably on some, but mostly aren't. You just picked who are famous and hot players now, but then the time they were against Serena, were not yet on their prime. Poor selections.

Well, other players that have played Serena have said, (and rightly so), She is all over the place, you don't know where the ball is going.
This was said many moons ago when players were asked (because it was quarters and both were still playing), who would you prefer to play? The answer was Venus, because she has a more conventional type of playing. Whereas they said, Serena is all over the place.
...and this was said when both of them were winning consistently.

And in the 10 years after that (2002-11) she won only 22 of the 112 tournaments she played. She was consistently beaten.

It's very hard to think of how much time has past between now and Jan. of 2021 and still think that Serena made the semis of a grand slam LAST YEAR. I honestly HONESTLY think if it weren't for that injury at Wimbledon in 2021, she would've gotten her 24th.

God I wish she would do more strength training. It really would help with her movement. Less muscle (because of age) means less explosiveness.

One of the saddest moment in sports history was when she lost to Errani in the 2017 US Open. She could've won a golden slam that year 😭
