To be fair, I'd also like to know rapier and sabre, but after I learnt the long sword. Also longsword hasn't been hand and a halfed by modern fencing.... Yet.

Yes! Such a wonderful video. However, I am still going to learn the longsword, because it is a hero's weapon. I saw Fiore once. The longsword. I want to learn the longsword.

I wish I could learn rapier where I live. The only school near me says on their website that they teach mainly longsword and only teach "niche" weapons after months of longsword lessons.

@@MoonshineH it was ifunny but I don’t remember where to find it. All I know is I came here looking for this video because someone went “they anime girl’d the long sword video guy”
I know very little about how to use swords but I was under the impression the longsword is a decent starting weapon for when you first start learning so you can get basic fundamentals that transfer to other types of sword, was that incorrect?
I mean, that's what I do running my school. However, the idea isn't so much that the longsword is the best for lending fundamentals as much as it is about the longsword being the easiest for me to teach in a large group. Once people get the hang of fundamentals with the group lessons, study of other weapons tends to branch out from there.
I'd hazard to say that longsword was the first area of HEMA that took off and was really the only thing for awhile, on top of it being a style that most people start with because, depending on who you ask, it's easier to learn than rapier or sword and shield. You have both hands on your weapon, giving you somewhat more control, and easier to distribute the weight, along with not having to worry about what your offhand is doing (usually).
it's not the kid's fault that they made the longsword so cool
"But you can be a good at Saber in about 5 minutes!"
Jesus, you don't have massacre us like that.

That one hits a little to close to home LMAO
The disses at Sabre were hilarious “you can just make stuff up” “you can be good with it in 5 minutes”
I am one of the better sabre fencers in my class and I cannot even name a renowned sabre master.
Based kid is right.
Pawn D5
“but the smartest fencers do rapier",no Sir,raiper is not about how smart your, it's about HOW STRONG YOUR ARMS ARE!!💪💪💪💪
And geometry. That's a very important part of the rapier.

I get everything and nothing about this in the same breath it's amazing
I have never related to a protagonist more than I relate to Longsword Guy
Cracked me up on the Polish sabre part.
I'm disappointed he didn't just answer with "it doubles as a club"
thats why you need to teach him longsword
The Longsword ❤❤

Truly a heros weapon
:champion:

Me: with eternal youth?
If they answer yes I'd take the rapier because I think it is actually kind of cool
Pole hammer duels look really fun, but I want to learn the longsword.
If I only have to do rapier for a short while, then I can switch to longsword for an infinite amount of time... I think you know what I'd choose.
Still one of my favorite HEMA memes. It's funny 'cause it's true.
“I will give you a million dollars and buy you a Tesla…” I’d take that offer.
For a million dollars you could have like ten Albion swords
That's actually a really good video. "I want da lonkswortz!!!"
I’ve always been a fan of sword and buckler my self…. But I did start with the longsword
longsword guy got a sick jacket tho
You think doubles are common in longsword? There's a reason Tallhoffer said “Here they fight with messers, God help them!”
My current favorite thing.
So that's where that iron lily comic came from

How can i learn this martial art what do i need to google ?
HEMA or historical fencing :) where are you based?
Is there a specific name for those outfits?
Is it still postmodern, or already metamodern?
Ok, someone please tell me WHY the Coach is so against the Longsword?
I guess because the coach is bored out with longsword at this point, because there are so many other interesting weapons to fence with
