    You simply cannot underestimate the job Rob and Ryan have done. They have hired the right people and have invested very wisely. They see themselves as stewards of the club and want the club to be in a fit and healthy state from the ground up. Everybody contributes

    i remember sitting in the cae ras with my mate on a cold day watching us draw to pretty bad teams, with a crowd of around 3,400. the club off the pitch was factional and divided , we had scant money and a stadium in disrepair. the future looked bleak. i cant get a ticket anymore but i still love the club and listen to the match when they play. the feeling is so posative and its all thanks to mr macelhenney who convinced ryan to take us over. its given the fans , the club and the town of wrexham a huge boost. ive been watching the documentary as well and its such a great advert for the club and its fans , also the personal storys are heart tugging creates even more strong bonds and makes everyone feel a part of this incredable journey. whatever happens next rob and ryan have changed us all and made us proud again i thankyou both from the bottom of my heart.

    Lifelong football fan here (Liverpool if you must know), what I see in Wrexham is something I haven't seen very often for some time. They play as a team, work together even they are score behind (Yes, I know this is not good for our heart and health lol), and for most time they really came back winning!
    Amazing vibe, amazing manager and players with support from the co-owners, keep on flying until you reach the cups! Also, their women's team is awesome as well! All win in the last season?!?! Seriously? That is something not many club could accomplished!

      I'm a Liverpool fan from across the pond. The first game I ever saw was Daniel Sturridge's hat trick against Fulham. I have loved Liverpool and non-American football since then. Wrexham is hard to root against because the town goes as the team goes. The town has seen hard times and the team has as well. Now, the team is playing well and the town has hope.

    Thing about the Wrexham is, they do have great owners and Parkinson is probably one of the best managers at this level. Though a big help while in the National League and now L2 was recruiting several experienced players from higher divisions. Not so sure this could happen if they went up the leagues, getting the required players of quality in. The wages and fair play rules might be an issue too. Wrexham also have the biggest budget in League 2 this season so being in the top 3 isnt unexpected. And for every Luton or Bournemouth who made their way up to the top, there's a Bradford or Oldham going the other way. Cos these leagues and relentless and brutal on clubs. Look at Forest Green and Salford who also have wealthy owners but only gone so far. The wisest move for Wrexham would be to invest long term in their academy, get great coaches and facilities.

    • @NR-fd9wv
      @NR-fd9wv 5 місяців тому +1

      investing in their facilities was one of the first things they did. their strategy was to get out of the national leagues as fast as possible, so getting players who were too good for that league was the right thing to do. obviously that isn't a longterm strategy. and a big part isn't their personal wealth, but their ability to get better sponsors and make the club known to the public. that worked out great so far and that was something the other owners couldn't do that effective.

When I was 9 or 10 yrs old I flew over to visit family in Scotland but we were landing at Heathrow Airport and stayed with family for the night in Luton... I felt sick and fell asleep rolled up on the couch, but a few hours later woke up to a football house party and scared the crap out of everyone cuz none knew I was even there!! Turns out it was Luton Town Fc and they felt soo bad the entire team autographed a team ball as an apology for it.. wow I had totally forgotten all about it till now haha been 30 yrs since it happened but glad this reminded me of it!!!

      The big difference was Luton were a top flight club, spending many years there in the 1980s. They even came 7th in 1987 winning the League Cup. They were only relegated in 1992. As such they have a large legacy fan base. Wrexham as a team have never been higher than the second tier. They have never got anywhere near getting promoted to the top tier and they haven't got anywhere near winning an English cup.

    It is simple to say that the key is money. It is only one of the keys. Self-belief is part of it too. To get the money requires that the brand extends. Merchandize and sponsorship are the sources for the money. Ryan has extended his personal brand to the club. Now the club has it's own international brand. That needs to grow. The existing team needs to get the results. continue to

      They haven't got the money. They have division one money. If they are lucky maybe a year in the championship. They need maybe 100 million more. If an investor has that type of money Sheffield Wednesday or Sunderland would be a much much better investment. Most TV series don't last more than 5 or 6 years in the US.

      @@13has No club gets as much coverage from the BBC relative to its stature as Wrexham, partly because of the BBC regions. When they were promoted last year, there were 6 or 7 pieces of content on the BBC Sport homepage. Orient were promoted to L1 the same day, and they had the usual one story. If you're familiar with the BBC you'll know that, in its delusion, it thinks that it can compete with Netflix, and in its desperation for clicks the BBC (often BBC Wales) is giving far too much sensationalist coverage to Wrexham.

      @@ian_r125 The comment was about BBC Sport's over-coverage of Wrexham. When you compare original programming like-for-like, Netflix has global appeal and the BBC only has local appeal. The BBC could never have made a documentary like the Disney+ one and had the same impact, hence why they're desperately trying to piggyback on the Wrexham story with clickbait aimed at a North American audience. I don't think that's what the BBC should be.

    Still think they will be in League 1 for a while after being promoted if things continue like they are now. I think Stockport will run the table if they can stay fit. The real story should be Notts County doing the same thing without the big famous owners and being nearly the top of the league without the Wrexham bank account.

      Why do people think that Notts is running on willpower and not massive investments by their danish owners? Not taking anything away from Notts but its not like they have this magical ability of running a club without money, they would be totally bankrupt without their owners, so I dont see why people are always saying this. And this is not uncommon in clubs to be so dependant, so again, not taking anything away from anyone, just that people seem to believe that Wrexham and Notts operate under different monetary values.

      Sure, but they're tied on points with Notts County who they just beat 0-2 away, the only reason they're in 3rd and not 2nd is a difference of a single goal on GD. 3rd place is just as good as first place at the end of the season in League 2. There's still 30 more regular season games to play, so there's a lot left to play for.

      Ryan Reynolds is a marketing genius. He started out guerilla marketing his Dead Pool movie and then branched out by taking significant positions in liquor, mobile phones, and financial tech companies along with percentage deals on his ability to boost sales. For Wrexham AFC this included the Welcome to Wrexham tv series as well as other promotional efforts which has made Wrexham into one of the world's most popular football teams in less than three years. Amazing. He's so good at this that, when he and some associates (including Rob McElhenney), bought a quarter share of the Alpine F1 team for a little over $200 million US this year Team Alpine told the Wall Street Journal that it hopes Ryan can help with marketing and expansion efforts.

    There's an undeniable arrogance and complacency that's appeared since the boys' takeover. I'm happy for the long-suffering Wrexham fans (as distinct from the plastic Disney ones), but saying it's a three-horse race when teams like Morecambe and Mansfield have been keeping pace (and could go above them if they win their games in hand) is just disrespectful. And the guy saying they'll be in the Champions League in a few years, half-jokingly! Some Wrexham fans seem to think they're a bigger club than half the Prem.

    • @alexzzzzzzzzzz247
      @alexzzzzzzzzzz247 7 місяців тому

      @rogerbeattie2263 Still not correct. For Uefa qualification, it doesn't matter if you're a "Welsh" or "English" club, what matters is the league system you play in. The Welsh Cup has been won for the past two years by TNS, a team based in England that plays in the Welsh system. And yes, they qualified for Europe. Likewise, in 2013, Swansea, a team based in Wales that plays in the English system, qualified for the Europa League. If Wrexham got to the Premier League, they would be able to take one of England's qualification places, because they play in the English system.
