He was panicking like crazy in the first fight in the last round when Volk was on top. People are right about this though. He should never have taken this short notice. But someone said he would have lost even on a full camp. I beg to differ. I think on a full camp he would have won. He didn’t really start to find his feet until late in the 4th round first time. Was stupid to take such a tough fight on short notice and I think he knows that. I think the UFC offered him a bunch of money knowing he would lose. It keeps their new poster boy on top.

Edit: I believe Volk should’ve waited, yes just bc the fight was close their last fight, doesn’t mean u gonna beat him the next fight, Islam was training for Charles, so yk Islam changed up some things, Volk even admitted he wasn’t training for that fight, yes 2 weeks notice Volk was gonna need more time to prepare for that fight, but it was 2 weeks notice, Islam was already training way before the 2 weeks notice. But like i said I believe he shouldn’t have jumped up to soon and try to fight, will this lost have an impact on his fight with Ilia? Idk, but we will find out Saturday night.

A lot of fans are saying that Volk should've never taken the fight on 2 weeks notice....What they don't understand is that Volk did the math and was like if I take this fight in the future, I have to go through a long training camp and will lose and leave with 1 check let me get it out the way with no training camp and because I did UFC a favor they are paying me a flat amount win or lose...basically doubled his money...At the end of the day Money is what matters mostly for these fighters since its such a short window.

It so crystal clear now after watching the fight back that the Islam's game plan was to high kick Volk. You can see how he sets it up with a bunch of low and body kicks to make Volk not anticipate high kick. The best sport ever especially when you start to realise all these details.
