- Hello people and welcome to Thessia, our Australasia inspired chain of tropical islands. This map is a train only start, there are no 3 lane highways on Thessia and only a small national road to start out. Please enjoy our second modded build.

- Will you add x/y/z mod or asset? Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments but Thessia will not become hugely modded & asset heavy. There is enough in the game now with all packs & DLC.
- What DLC do you have? All of them and every new one as it comes out.
- Why are you not putting pipes under the roads? Huge waste of nodes and I need them for building. 81 tiles has an option to remove the need for them.

you can use RON mod to replace train station tracks with metro station tracks, you can have them both in same station and add lines that way. Just make sure to not use the regular metro track, because they cant have stops.

With the area around the bridge, you could take inspiration from an area in Sydney called "The Rocks" this area has a lot of old heritage buildings as it was one of the first areas in Sydney to be built back in the colonial era.
Seriously, this is one of the most exciting episodes. I was already on edge from the crazy possibilities Teddy left for network development/connections. My heart was racing through the time-lapse, seeing it come to life with all of the slip roads, views, subtle layers, and transit integration. Some really fascinating design inspiration coming out of Australia. Well done! Yes, without a doubt, downtown Thessia is going to be top of the list. My expectations were high, and you surpassed them. Thanks!

When there are bumpy nodes on slopes because the node is flat but the road slopes (like on the bridge over the metro: 53:47) you can use Node Controller and select the “slope” option for the node and it will slope the intersection/node with the road. (You can set it to do this automatically when you select any node using Node Controller with the mod’s settings page, I believe.)
I think this was resolved already in the later part of the footage, it also stood out to me:-)

Egg, what an impressive episode that was.. It might even by my favourite of yours, surpassing even the best Ilos downtown builds. And it's just the beginning, the frame for what is to come.. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us.
Funny how in the first minutes of your videos I sometimes go "why would he build that road there", only for it to make absolute sense 30 minutes down the line, bravo my friend!
One suggestion, except for what someone mentioned about using a more historical train station, I'd also add some sort of access from the back, either a simple path to the furthest platform or a pedestrian bridge over to the side of the main building.

You have Find iT so it is very easy to make the metro stop there, just search for Metro Station track, remove the middle node(there are 2 segments now) and upgrade, then it would be better to lock again the segment NMT and there you have it, functional metro track. also you could put tram road in some of this platforms if you plan to have trams nearby

@@OVERCHARGEDEGG Tysm 🥰 btw, if you’re looking for another idea, I think it would be cool to have, along the big central square, a building like Adelaide’s General Post Office, which has quite a distinctive look to it. Also, people would measure the distance from their house to the city by distance to the GPO
Its a great episode as always! I'm sorry to say, but I do think that the train station is a bit boring.. I would suggest using some old, historical looking ones. For example the Flinders Street Station in Melbourne. I know, I know.. Two Dollars Twenty used it too, but its such a great asset! And I think it would fit into this city.

Hi Egg, I heavily disagree with having the second bridge across the harbour. I'm from Sydney and what i think gives the Sydney Harbour Bridge (part of) its significance is that it is the only above ground connection from across the harbour into Sydney's CBD. my suggestion with the second bridge is turning it into a tunnel, similar to Sydney's harbour. I think this will give Teddy's stunning bridge the more prominent part in the downtown it deserves, especially when coming into the harbour from the coast.

A suggestion for the inner roads on the green belt area would be to make it a Green Cities and/or Self-sufficient area. Keeps the green belt vibe but adds some RICO capacity. Great infrastructure layout as always, OE!
I feel like you should connect an underground metro from Canberra to “Egg I Laid” that uses the underground stop in the big train station. Seems like the sims would want easy access to that train station and between those cities
Yes please to the mixed use train/metro station. So pleased to hear Oz is providing lots of inspiration! Your puns are inspired: Eggelaide is founded! 👏👏 PS: “CBD” is correct - stands for “central business district”.
Adelaide represent! As others have said, Victoria Sq and Rundle Mall would be fantastic inspirations.
The Central Markets could be a shout, and the aesthetic of the Adelaide Oval/Pennington Gardens/St Peters Cathedral could look so good factored in somewhere.
There's also Royal Adelaide Hospital overlooking the railyard, the historical buildings like the old Coke factory and the recently decommissioned West End brewery on the Thebarton side of Port Road.
The redevelopment of Port Adelaide could be found for a bit of inspiration as well perhaps, with places like Fisherman's Wharf and the old industrial redevelopments.
Torrens Island Power station could be an good reference for an island power build.
I could go on and on and on, but far out I'm happy to see Adelaide in Thessia! Great build Egg!

Love the Canberra inspired build. The suburb surrounding State Circle is called Forrest and uses cool intersecting circles and couplets for layout.

Haven't watched yet but if u use google maps for the sat imagery be careful! The sat images of canberra are quite out of date! The city is growing pretty fast ❤
Edit: also don't forget about your pedestrian streets, such as garema place in canberra or George street in sydney. And of course, trams are very Australian, with melbourne adelaide sydney canberra Newcastle and the gold coast all having tram systems!

Around the time you started this series I flew over the southern parts of Australia in MSFS, including Adelaide and Canberra, and was hoping I would see some of those designs in Thessia because they *are* so distinctive and different from “just another city.” In particular I was hoping for some Canberra Circles, and I was not disappointed!
If you do put that massive hotel in the middle, it should be called the Citadel Hotel because it looks sort of like one, and for the Mass Effect reference.

I'd really like to see you utilise the waterfront like Walter Burley Griffin (although he designed it) with nice open spaces, but it seems you're already keen to do it.

Eggalaide!! Yes!!! Omg it was almost weird watching my home city grid get recreated like that but I loved it 😅 its funny, whenever I make a CBD in Cities I always tend to surround it with parkland, because of course, why wouldnt you lol.

Rather than a ground level metro station on the edge of "Eggalaide", would a sunken station suit the gradient and also feed perfectly into any downtown underground metro? And it would be cool if that platform adjacent to the metro, could have a little local train that crosses the bridge and back. For the locals 😉 Like the Forth Bridge in Edinburgh

Liking this Australia theme. Just one note. The current Australian Parliament building is a lot flatter than the hotel. It has 'green' roof, that, in pre 9/11 days, Aussies used to go picnicing on.
Great build, these frame building episodes are cool because they leave you to think of all the possibilities you can build! But I think there is a small problem with the new couplet bridge + metro... It's too low for ships to pass! Maybe an underwater tunnel can be a solution... We'll see what you can craft!
It’s be interesting to see if you can get a downtown festival using the concerts dlc. Or an amphitheater of some sorts would be cool too!
Hi! LOVED this. While its not necessarily the downtown, that huge mountain between the downtown and Valkyrie would make, i think, a wonderful national park with switchback nature paths connecting the regions. fun to think about. Love all your builds.

This looks amazingly promising for both parts inspired by Canberra and Adelaide! That bridge by Teddy is unbelievable.
Lovely road network Egg. If you're going to do Adelaide (or as it's known to the rest of Australia, Radalaide), you're going to have to put a bunch of churches in, as it's also the city of churches. There's some great parts of Adelaide that should be included, the museums down by the river and lots of wall to wall commercial will really give the vibe. If you're using other places as inspiration too though, can I suggest Southbank in Brisbane? There's a fake beach area on the river which would work pretty well. museums near it, art galleries, restaurants and the like, there's a big old ferris wheel too, that whole stretch of riverbank is pretty well laid out.
You need to add a carillon on an island in the bay!! Check out Queen Elizabeth II Island and the National Carillon that sits on it.

It's a shame there's no way to remove the railings on the metro line so you don't need to mess with the node widths. Very cool integration, though.

That is spectacular! Museums: Canberra has quite a few ...for example one near the circle, there is one near the bridge, and in that spot by the ferry and cul de sac ...at least one would be great and a destination. I love your builds so much.

Dude i really do enjoy these network planning episodes. I feel like thats one of my biggest struggles is the preplanning for my next build or where/how to progress. I love the idea of the metro passing through that station, really thinking outside of the box! This whole area with the bridge and networks and all the transportation is going to be epic! I cant wait to see this come to life.... can it be next week already?!
After taking a closer look with Google Earth, some of the university buildings from the Campus DLC might be a good fit for the Canberra government building area.

I wish to see the multi platform used little more extensively. Take the split off cargo line and send it in to the downtown for a sole internal line maybe? Metro go into the city and have train hook around to other side of downtown to take them to station then to other areas?? Could also hook the monorail into the bridge (weeee😅). I would have never guessed that was monorail. The monorail is a joke
But get that big o African convention center in there. Haven’t seen you use it yet. Fits the color

I'm sure I'm not the first and also sure I won't be the last, but had you used find it to pick the metro's station track and replaced the rail segment in the multiplatform station, you would have been able to set stops there that work.
Love watching the master at work, as always. I think the dual one-way bridge might be too low though and ferries are gonna clip right through it? I could be wring though..
Really like the look of the quay wall by the train station being a bit higher than the road. makes it look like a retaining wall on one side and a sort of security wall on the street side.

How about adding a second elevated metro station under the bridge to form some sort of interchange between both metro lines (and encourage more public transport use)?
23:00 you can make a stop but you have to use the invisible station track- you can use peanut’s in finder or an invisible one available at the workshop
That interchange is like a parclo windmill
the downtown isn't even in but thessia is already BY FAR my favorite OE city, really don't want to see it hindered by the drop os CS2

btw, is the new metro + couplet system bridge high enough to allow cruise liners and cargo ships to enter the harbor bay? or will it kill those intercity connections?

If you need to go under the highway anyway, why not just connect it to the underground station? Or have an at grade metro station out the back of the rail station? It's a cool look, but for the practical aspect it seems like there are better options

While that bridge is superb I'd like to see what Akraus could have done instead.
I love how it looks aesthetically, but what purpose do those concentric circle roads serve from a traffic point of view? The inside is maybe a little quicker with fewer connections, but is it that much of a difference?
Maybe he will change them into different kind of roads for different kind of transportation options, it could be pedestrian, buses, tams etc… We’ll have to wait & see 😊
