For those who are wondering: non smoking F-4 belongs to 339 squadron (callsign Aias) because it is an intercepting squadron and the smoking F-4 belongs to 338 squadron (callsign Ares) and it is a bombing squadron. All of our F-4 updated in 2000 with new avionics, radars, targeting pods, weapons and engines but before 2 years most of the non smoking engines came close to their end of life so the Hellenic Air Force took the decision that only the planes of the interceptor squadron will have the non smoking engines.
