    Following along as I just paid off my 2016 535i m sport. Now I can start to modify it with my wife's blessings so let's do this. West palm beach florida needs a fast n54. Right now it's got 54000 miles on it I just replaced all of the switches and door rubbers. Now I'm planning on watching more videos in order to get the transmission ready for what it's about to be asked to handle. Thanks for these videos it really helps..

    I love technical and I love this channel! I've completed a substantial refresh of my N54 135i over the last 12 months, mostly following the "rules". I totally enjoy this platform, despite the occasional inherent annoyances. There's certainly a lot more I need to learn as far as dialing in power, performance and reliability. Totally looking forward to this build series!

    What you say about misinformation on this platform hugely resonates with me. In the UK there are no true technical specialists for this engine and having battled a boost oscillation issue for three years (still on going) I have consistently come up against random diagnosis with no logical data driven approach. See many forum threads which follow similar paths unfortunately. Makes the platform extremely tough to own in the UK if you’re technical. Going to join the channel to find some brains 😂

    Will be a good project. My e92 (prior design widebody) is an all rounder maybe a little more focused on circuit suspension and setup wise however, on street tyres (AD08Rs)it ran 10.7@131mph. Pure stg2s / 6AT. Full weight , leather luxury gapping machine mode.
    That was a tuning run for flex at lower boost than I run now and almost no timing. It should pull a mid 10 now on the better tyres (Kumho V70A or my Nitto N555R drag radials) same full weight trim. Happy to help contribute if I can 👍

Other minor upgrades too suspension stuff new clutch and what not. Current dragy time is 7.65 60-130 and 6.59 100-200. Full weight 6mt 135i on a very safe tune. Wouldn’t say conservative because it is a 26psi but my tuner gave me the option of running more timing for a kill tune and I declined. Already fast enough for my use of it. One tip around 1/4 mile stuff ; get your technique and setup sorted at low power(even as it is) so you can cut a great 60ft (not 0-100). You then optimise 1/8th and full pass. Tweak and then up the power, rinse and repeat. Tecnique takes time for muscle memory , so changes that effect what your car does (power /tyres/chassis) will need adjustment to your timing. First pass off the trailer with kill mode active will simply see you have a very frustrating night too. You enjoy the night alot more when passes improve, plan for this , it happens. If you do like 90% of folk, no plan for the night, its a fluke you cant repeat. Obviously, real motorsport contains this sort of planning, so simply take the same mindset and you have a better time(pun) This goes for burnout/optimsed heated tyre pressure. Watching your efforts so far ,there is big upside here. Your drag radial approach has alot of upside , you arent yet doing that right. 1.6/1.5s await.👍

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

      Although ecu times are better than nothing. The ecu runs off the cars calculated road speed. They are generally quite a bit quicker times than a dragy or vbox. Worth the investment in dragy if you are genuinely interesting in dialing your car in. You won’t get enough accuracy through the ecu. Especially if you have wheel slip.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  3 роки тому

      I like to think my draggy times speak for themselves. But incase you can't work it out the stock air box is slower on our cars. I have 5 stock air boxes here and 2 or 3 high flow filters. Stock air box is slower on the draggy. I have a theory on why some people think the stock air boxes are better. But we have done back to back tests many times from lightly tuned cars up to RB turbo equiped car and the more power you make the bigger the issue is with the stock air box. 1M air box is slightly better than a normal one, but i'd still run DCIs. Remember you can have IAT's in the negatives and it wont matter if you can't get enough air in there to make power.

      Diff brace will definitely help. A strong LSD will help break the axles. The cars seem ok wiht open diffs. But just be ready for it. You will break axles when you start making good power. On the same note, until you are running port injection with decent ethanol content you wont be making enough torque to snap axles.
