Taron Egerton guides us through the Crocodile Rock scene in Rocketman | British GQ
He seems very emotionally drained in this video. Usually he’s super peppy and smiley in interviews. Can’t blame him, I don’t know how he does all these interviews and photoshoots with a smile on his face.
I'm pretty sure given what he's wearing he did this right after the GQ awards. So he's probably hungover
GemmaMarie Boyle no I think it’s at his GQ cover shoot. Undone tie and rolled up sleeves
He strikes me as a serious actor reviewing his work and studying how to make it better.
@@bb22602 Agreed. He probably looks at it and sees everything that he thinks he did wrong, even though the rest of us only see perfection...
@@rraine4195 Agreed. He sees a very long and difficult day. Plus his reflection of day 1 on the set and a huge feeling of "oh god, what have I got myself into"
1:54 Taron obviously spends too much time around Richard Madden because he does his accent perfectly
It literally perfect
Taron's a great mimic. His Fletcher & Vaughn impressions are perfect as well.
Dont forget Mr. Rami "Robot" Malek
You can never spend too much time with Richard Madden.
did he imitate rami?
Looks like he's picking apart every scene in his mind, he seems so self-critical in this interview and he really doesn't need to be. Absolut and pure talent this guy.
I could have mopped the floor better at work last night, but I’ll do it better tonight…
I don’t blame him one bit. I’ve been in a few movies myself, and I couldn’t even bring myself to watch them. People with insecurities always judge themselves harshly, which is a pity. He’s an incredible actor.
Yeeeees
Yes! I Agree, this man is a complete talent
I think he got really emotional and was trying to hold it back through the video.
Nancy Tse I was literally just going to comment this! He looks really proud of himself ❤️
Nancy Tse agree he was holding back his emotions- love this video 💕
I thought he looks a bit stressed
I honestly think he’s just super tough on himself, so I think as he was talking about it, he was also critiquing himself
I was just about to write that. You could see by the end of it he was trying to hold back some tears. There's only one smile in the world that serves that purpose and that's what it looks like. Beautiful moment to watch. A beautiful person to watch.
me: gets excited for the surely insightful comment he’ll make at 2:47
Taron: those dungarees made my arse look massive
😂 ...and no one's complaining 😉
Well... That is insightful 😊
I did the same thing😂
The way he said it is hilarious 😂
I believe the proper wordy is fantastic
You know, when Taron said he stole something from Rocketman in another interview, I thought he meant a small prop that he wore or used or something, not the entire Troubadour sign.
Isaac Thomas I mean, he also took the denim jacket from the Tiny Dancer scene lol
@@JeremyBell97 no, he asked for it and was given it.
LivB technically, yeah. He still brought it home with him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@JeremyBell97 I'd take that jacket too ngl
The actors can freely ask for clothes unless they’re going to a museum, otherwise they’re usually sold
He rejected to star in an x-man movie, just so he could play Eddie in "Eddie The Eagle". Some said that it was a mistake, but look where it brought him. He plays Elton John in a film that i'm sure will receive several oscar nominations and wins. Talk about taking one step back to come ten steps forward! What a Legend!
P.S. Go watch Eddie The Eagle! It's INCREDIBLE! Extremely underrated...
Omg soo true, it’s so strange how fate can play - to have a courage to say no to seemingly good opportunity . To go for the lesser project with heart and to win in the end. Mind blowing . I’m so glad he didn’t end up in dying franchise, he is too talented
Taron was SUPERB in ''Eddie The Eagle" as he was in "Rocketman''. He's an EXCELLENT character actor & I hope we saw him more in character roles.
@@nonnamadonna He's the best character in Sing.
Funny how life works out!!😉😍🔥
“These dungarees made my arse look massive” LITERALLY NO ONE IS COMPLAINING BB!
Taron in a disheveled tux makes me feel.... things....
macattack423 same
it makes me wish I was the reason said tux was disheveled.
.....one can dream.
He looks hot like that. Yum. Also, I like how intently he looks while he watches his scenes from the movie.
He is attacking me without even knowing🥰
Daddy.
I'm six minutes in and he hasn't smiled yet. I'm crying. Does he need a hug?
I actually think he does. He looks sad even in the post winning interview. Something is up with him I think.
He just looks exhausted.
Brie Grace going to cry with you, mate
I KNOW I FEEL SAD LIKE.....
YOU CAN HUG ME BABY😭😭😭😭
Your Fellow Queenie I wanna jus cuddle and hold him, and let him know that everything will be okay... 🥺
It’s a bit ironic that he admits experiencing high anxiety on a day when he’s portraying Elton John who’s experiencing high anxiety.
It helped that scene I’m sure. I loved it. Taron was a perfect Elton
I bet Dexter knew this and for that reason made it the first scene Taron shot
@@rhiannonmccord7382 God and Jesus love you
coincidental
Taron: *very professional and insightful comment about sound and cinematography of the scene*
Taron, seconds later: those dungaroos made my arse look massive.
When he explains the scene he's walking on stage and how the background sound is an orchestra tuning in, to represent the big musical moment that was about to happen.... God! This film!
I want to watch a "Dex & Taron's commentary" version of Rocketman
This was exactly what I was hoping for in the added features, along with bloopers/gag reel, but neither were included 😓
Is that a thing?!?!
@@amandawhittaker3833 there probably weren't any bloopers because they were having so much fun as it is.
@@weasley2o13 Sometimes they do it for films, but I don't think they did for Rocketman 💔
@@LaryAku no I meant is rocketman commentary a real thing hahaha not commentaries in general.
What an amazing actor. His analysis is honest and insightful. He also let's us in on his own insecurities and fears. It's a great example that everyone no matter how talented has self doubts.
Anyone else think it was so cute the way he said "cmon, then!" at 1:26?
like....he's adorable
I think that is the cutest thing ever.. Aswell as the "yeahh go get a little drink" later in the movie
@@kaz3824 I love that so much
Taron makes the heart in my little bi soul throb
Yes it is adorable.💕 Glad I am not the only one💍💙
Tom Holland who?!
The fact that Elton hand-picked this guy to play himself is proof that Taron REALLY had what it took
I love this film. I need to rewatch it
As a 40 plus year fan of Elton John, I can honestly say that Taron knocked it out of the park!! Outstanding performance, very talented singer and actor, and a very believable personality and persona of Elton John. All Taron did was made me a much bigger fan of his and he re-introduced me to how I grew up respecting Elton John and how much I love his music. The moment I saw this movie in the theater, I knew Elton John was proud of Taron for this amazing work of art!
Awww you could see in Taron's face how proud he is in making this movie!!!
I thought he looked emotionally drained
@@skyeminer2725 true. I do think he was tired too
“Elton’s not a particularly camp bloke”
I thought you met him, Taron
I think he meant in private, hes camp on stage, but very much the opposite when off stage.
@@littleboo2002 if you watch him in interviews Elton is far less camp than people like Freddie Mercury or Ian McKellen for example
@@hopeparsons-munn6887 did you mean to tag me in the response? Because that's is what I basically said.
@@littleboo2002 sorry I meant to reply to the original response
@@hopeparsons-munn6887 no worries. I figured. :)
If Taron isn't nominated for an Oscar I shall be writing a long letter to the academy. 😂
He deserves an Oscar for this. One talented actor.
JackieWarner13 we’ll be too ! 😂❤️
They really won't care about your long letter.
I don’t know , the academy awards have a horrible habit of remembering movies earlier in the year and what with little woman coming out I’m scared it might not get recognized
I think he will be. His performance was virtuous. They have to at least acknowledge that.
@@mikaylaj4322 little women doesn't look that good...
i love the fact that he says everything that goes through is mind. for example, "those dungarees made my arse look massive" or "i looked like a muppet". i love him
It makes me really sad to see Taron so sad in a interview which is unlike his usual interviews which he seems to have fun with. He just looks so emotionally drained. I can’t tell if he’s just really tired and just not having the best day or he’s being very critical of himself. Which he shouldn’t be as many other people state in the comments. Even around 7 to 8 minutes in the video where you see these little smiles pop in, he’s just not holding them. It breaks my heart to see him so upset.
That little "hmm.." and his happy smile towards the end - you can just tell how much being a part of this film means to him. Thank YOU for the performance of a lifetime, Taron. ❤️ ACADEMY AWARD !!
My favorite part of the scene is Elton's entrance. Have you ever had to enter a place that you are not sure you should be in? Time slows down, sound is distorted - then you reach your goal and everything snaps into place. And that is what happened to Elton - he found his place in the world and the rest is history.
Nobody:
Not a single soul:
Taron: This reminds me of the muppets Christmas carol
me: confused
The one dislike is John Reid.
Bernie's joy is this scene is one of my favorite parts of the movie.
I love that when he's watching it back, you can see that he's kinda subtly replaying parts of the scene on his face, like what his reactions and facial expressions were at the time, but ever so slightly. Idk, it's just one of those human things that I think is really cool.
OMG BLESS HIS HEART HE'S SUCH A DARLING
.
Ok
@@joycewangari5339 ok
It's been said Taron is VERY dedicated to his craft and an absolute professional, needing silence on the soundstage while filming. You can see him going over every scene in his mind in this clip. Taron has said that in school he hated Math but loved English, which is evident in every interview he's done. So freakin well spoken and intelligent, he's an interviewer's DREAM! ✨
How is it I’m Scottish and taron does a better Scottish accent than me
Of course, he's Welsh... and an actor.
Ailsa Patterson literally same
two words... richard madden😳
@Lee J during his childhood he grew up in Ynys Mon and later moved to Aberystwyth. Taron is meant to be a variation of 'taran' which is Welsh for 'thunder', he's bilingual (speaking both Welsh and English); oh and you're probably forgetting the fact that England is Welsh land anyway.
@@drkyre God and Jesus love you
God he's judging himself so harshly...and he doesn't even have to speak, you can see it written all over his face the second that scene started playing. It's truly sad that the most talented people are the ones who would never see that when they look in the mirror. That was a fascinating moment. Thank you for sharing.
I have watched this movie 3 times now and have booked tickets to go see Elton John next year in Manchester. Best film I have ever seen, the best actor, so excited to watch it again! Also, Richard Maddens performance is so good, can't wait to see him in more films!!!
Mollie Haley Earnshaw I’ve also seen the movie 3 times (3rd time on Monday) now and I’ve also booked my ticket to see him in Manchester next November!
Know how you feel.. I have now watched it four times!
@@monikapimentel2115 Yes November that's when I'm going! How exciting!
Yaay! On the second time I watched it, me and a friend just HAD to buy tickets for London Arena on next December. I really hope he gets all the recognition he deserves, it is such a great film!!
coronavirus really said "nah." ITS FUNNY BECAUSE I WAS SUPPOSED TO SEE HIM IN A FEW WEEKS AND THE CAPSLOCK IS HIDING MY DEPRESSION
he looks so sad watching himself act :( lemme give him a hug
pol is the walrus he doesn’t want to know it’s over:(
Take one for the team, pol.
8:35 the look on his face when he sees richard😂
That actually started when the troubadour owner came on
So he’s saying they shot the troubadour...
*on day one*
Cami Nugent 💀😂
@Cami Nugent Bohemian Rhapsody shot the full live aid scene on day one
*the bathroom scene from the Troubadour
We shot live aid on day one
we shot live aid on dAy oNe
He has so much emotion with a straight face it's crazy. His face never changes but you can tell there's lots of emotions
What an amazing experience for Taron. I’m so happy he’s proud to have been in this role. Proud to all Elton his friend. ❤
Fantastic to have much more detail about one key scene in the film. Really interesting. Awesome film and performance from Taron. Brilliant!
6:14 "ohmygodthisis a-MAZING thisis AM-THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST-MOMENT-OF-MY-LIFE... EVER!" (Taron Egerton after floating in the air while recording this scene - Behind The Scenes on ROCKETMAN)
From the first minute of the performance you can definitely tell that Taron is keeping himself from dancing and singing, I'm a proud mama
I wish every actor would break down their films like this. It's so interesting how decisions are made and why. Glad I got a chance to meet Taron, what a sweet guy.
he’s so serious in this video omg. he’s such a talented actor ❤️
Does anyone else notice how much he scrutinises himself and yet is somehow rather proud of what he did?
“hi i’m taron egerton and i’m perfect”
So serious while watching his own performance. One smile at the end. It is always interesting to hear the stars talk about the who, what, when and why of what was done. Taron, Dexter Fletcher and Matthew Vaughan are forces to be reckoned with.
You could tell how proud he was of the scene towards the end when he could barely keep the smile off his face.
Aww, he looks so proud but still so humble! Sweet darling man. He is also drop dead gorgeous. ❤️
tarons impression of richards accent at 1:55 is spot on
What a legend! Give him an Oscar!
The intro and lift off the flr is a phenomenal state to be . Out of body..
I love how he can poke fun at himself and Elton while still maintaining a serious breakdown of the movie . Love this dude ,such a fantastic actor and singer
That is my favorite part of the movie! I love his pout in the restroom stall! And the stage presence when he finally stands to play the piano. 🥰❤️😍
I just want to say that you are an amazing actor not only did you embrace yourself Elton John's life but you Incorporated every single expression emotion and heart into your acting to portray Elton John life. Bravo! You made me really think that you will were Sir Elton John in this movie. Thank you so very much for your unconditional love for his life.
You can tell he's proud of his work. And so he bloody should be.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
His half smile at the end looks so painful. I imagine it’s the feeling you get when you’re in a musical and you’re looking back on your shows and reminiscing, only x100
he looks so proud right at the end of the video. this man deserves the world
I'm so in love with that man, that's ridiculous.
I LOVE HIM! Such an amazing actor/singer!! He deserves all the awards in the world
Taron is a brilliant actor, and he did such an INCREDIBLE job as Elton. You can see him smile every now and then while he is watching the scene, and he looks so proud of himself. He should be SO proud of himself.
I'm sorry, am I the only one who noticed how perfectly Taron imitated Richard.
That smile he has when he sees Richard, please help me I'm sobbing
Also he's so hot I can't breathe
this must be so much character development in real life, he represented one of his idols and had to be in their mindset from their youth. i’m so proud to see his progress and acting journey
Watched this film not too long ago, just puts you in awe
Every performance was amazing, and mad props to this guy for portraying such an iconic star so well
Watching this scene in the cinema gave me goosebumps I still feel to this very day
I SEE YOU HOLDING BACK THOSE SMILES TARON - definitely an incredible job and something you can own and be proud of 😭 I can’t not smile for majority of the movie tbh
8:21 Aw when taron smiles cos he’s just so happy of what he’s achieved
Taron is just one of the most likeable and extremely talented actors. I'm a big Elton fan so to me this was a great combination. Looking forward to a lot more from Taron.
Rocketman is the best movie ever. The actors did a fantastic job. I've watched it 4 times. It brought out things in my childhood that I suppressed. The way his parents were. How my dad remarried and gave all his attention to his new kids. There's too much more I remembered but it has why I got diagnosed with PTSD. The music I've always loved. God has given Elton John a gift of hearing the music and able to play it from memory. Also singing. He also made it through the drug era. God Bless All Always.
This is officially my favorite video on the internet
This was a fun idea - interesting to hear about their process behind the scenes; he's so passionate about his work. Happy for him (on the award and his brilliant performance in the film). He seems proud and reflective looking back at this amazing experience - Cudos to them all!
when taron used richards accent i just about died- a gorgeous man using another gorgeous mans accent 🥺🖐
I have watched this movie about 10x now. I watched it when I got out of detox, when you first get sober everything is really intense, and I got stuck in Elton John being my sobriety anthems. Total new appreciation after this movie.
Taron has such an amazing voice! made all the songs in this movie so amazing! i'm convinced that it's exactly the way it's supposed to be.
He looks so emotional 🥰
The second he appeared on screen I started fanning myself and gushing over his face and voice😍
It’s crazy how quick Bernie sobered up when Elton got upset. That’s a real friend
I liked how he looked and acted very professional watching himself in a movie and did not start laughing and saying how bad he was at times he would have fun with it which is very good so love a Taron Egerton
❤️❤️❤️
This has always been my favourite part of the film. how he slowly descends up into the air from ordinary life to complete stardom while the vibe of the crowd cheering and singing completely unaware of the euphoric feeling their giving him.
Taron Egerton the whole video: 😐
Taron Egerton when Richard Madden apears: 😁
Turn on captions:
“Hi I’m Karen Edison”
😂
I scrolled way too low for this 😂
“elton isn’t a very camp bloke” and then the smirk ,,, this man thinks he has JOKES huh
That got me too! John practically invented camp 😂
This guy was incredible in this movie and he was amazing as Eddie the Eagle
It's like he just came from the GQ party. But you can tell he is definitely reminiscing play by play of the movie
self critiquing is so strong it comes across the screen and he isn't even saying a word or any kind of reference to it. that's why he's as amazing as he is. he's a good egg(sy)
taron pausing every second is so cute lol
I'm gradually becoming a huge fan of Taron. He is brimming with talent and his projects are interesting. I remember Eddie the Eagle coming out and I really thought it looked like it had a lot of heart. I need to finally sit down and see it.
Love that he's just wearing his shirt and untied bow tie.
Tbh it looks cute
Someone need to tell him that he would be perfectly in an early Beatles John Lennon's role! They don't look alike very much, but Taron's funny acts quite reminds me early Beatles John's ! Taron is a great artist, he would play it for good!
How have I never before noticed how pretty his eyes are?
Just ordered my Rocketman dvd. Already got to see it 2x in theaters. Wanted to see it again though.
a brilliant film and performance by Taron
Is no one going to mention his super intense stare into the camera as he closes the laptop. It gave me chills
bubbleluver3000 you mentioned it
🥺He so precious
You can see in his eyes how proud he is
He's just so adorable and a little awkward but I did feel like I was kind of intruding on a personal moment
Taron trying not to smile for 9 minutes straight
Awww, bless him.
He was amazing in this movie you forget it is acting. He should win an oscar it is as good as performance last year
I love this video, especially from 8.04 when you see just a hint of Taron's pride trying to burst out, but his modesty pegging it back. This is such a wonderful film and magical performance. So well done in every way. Thank you everyone involved.
Loved this movie. Saw it 5 times in theatres. Really want a directors cut with all the deleted scenes
