    I followed JB and the BRM passionately back then. It was a special time in Reds history that more than likely will never happen again. My late father and father-in-law and myself attended Johnny Bench Night at Riverfront. It was a moment I’ll never forget. Thom I wish you the best and I will continue watching!

    I am 30 years old, born in the Cincinnati area aka across the river in NKY. These interviews are great. I hope to see the Reds win a world series on the preface of hopefully my Bengals getting the Lombardi. Good content here. Lifelong Reds fan, my only regret is being born too late to witness the Big Red Machines greatness

      I lived in Louisville from 69-73 and as a boy became a reds fan. My 1st game live was at old Crosley field and I thought Pete rose was the greatest thing ever. Then bench came along was rookie of the year and even as a boy Johnny looked so different at his position in my boys eyes that you knew this was greatness like none other. I was only 8 his rookie year but I couldn't take my eyes off bench when he was calling a game. The hitting was a bonus! No one looked like him catching a game. I can't say that about any other player I have ever watched. We're it not for that lung surgery I have no doubt he would've hit 500 home runs. It stole some of that bat speed and power yet he s still was able to overcome it cause he was that good. I feel like that reds team in 75 and 76 was as good a modern team as we have ever seen. I still say the 75 series was the best one in my lifetime. We had moved back to Missouri by then so I was an orphaned reds fan surrounded by hard-core cardinals fans. Until baseball has a salary cap I'm afraid the odds of a small market team ever building a dynasty is about 1 percent. It's sad and it has made me lose interest in the game. I wish every young person who loves baseball could've seen thos reds teams play! When Bernie Carbo hit that game tying home run it crushed me. I was allowed to stay up past my bedtime to watch game 6 . Another story my music teacher invited 2 of his students to have dinner with doc severson of the tonites show he happened to be touring during the 75 world series I didn't want to go cause the reds were playing a world series game that nite, my mom was gonna make me go to the dinner and fortunately with me in tears dad came to my rescue and let me stay to watch the game. Don't remember which game but it was the right decision cause of how great that series was. I could care less about som guy named doc that played a trumpet. Turned out he wasn't very friendly for whatever reason so I didn't miss much.

      best team of all time. Deserved more WS championships than the 2 they got.

    Thom Brennaman should be calling games and is a hero for saying what 90% of the country feels.

    • @natch27
      @natch27 2 дні тому

      You need to redefine what a hero is because you obviously haven’t a clue. You also need to reassess how the country feels about slurring a group of citizens for doing nothing to him. He made a ridiculous unprompted statement and lost his job for it. Very simple. Case closed.

      @@theadamdrunkwichfiles5923 His mistake was SAYING it, on the air. Even tho he didnt know he was on, he knows that those things happen. Agree w U 100%. This country cares wayyy too much about offending someone.

    • @natch27
      @natch27 2 дні тому

      What he said was ridiculously homophobic and it was unprompted. He was justifiably terminated by his employer. I don’t know where you work but if I used the same language he used my HR department would fire me.
      There are levels of mistakes and when you work as a broadcaster and say what he said, then you lose your job. Case closed.
      Now if you want to defend someone who simply had a slip of the tongue that went bad, you should defend Glen Kuiper, formerly of the A’s. Now he made a mistake.
