in the summer of 1988 at Fort Smith Arkansas I met Johnny Cash in person when I bought my first guitar he show me some chords and taught me how to play just for a few hours of that day
Dude, even stinkin' satan ain't an atheist. He knows GOD & the SON, JESUS. And he trembles. It's written. James 2:19 "... even the demons believe & they tremble. " You want to go to heaven when you die? Then tell Father you're sorry for a lifetime of sins. HE knows them all anyway. Ask that HE forgive you & save your soul, & fill you with the Holy Spirit. And HE will do it. Then get a Bible, read it & live it. It'll teach you how to live, man. And you will go to heaven when you die. God can't lie. Jesus went to the Cross to pay yours & my sin debt. We can't pay it, even our souls aren't enough. His blood shed for us is. With faith in Him. I'm telling you GOD put a milli9n dollars into your account. Go to the bank & get it..... eternal life.
I sang this song in a Unity church in 1999 one Sunday, when the church leader was away. I sure caught an earful when she came back from vacation, but the people all loved it. Maybe a seed was planted... On the next CD, Unchained, the song Spiritual really reached out to me, and I was still an atheist at the time. I'd give that one a listen...
In the fall of 1967 Johnny Cash walked into Nickajack Cave prepared to die. But instead, he found a reason to live and became the Man In Black. His faith saved him.
He captures the poetry and beauty of the Bible. For him it was about faith it's self. He makes the lyrics come to life with his passion that anyone can appreciate
It's a gorgeous song and it really makes me think. It helped me realize that I dont want paradise but I simply want forgiveness for the mistakes I've made. I'm happy it was a Cash song that helped me realize something so critical.
Thankfully Johnny cash clung to the tree and was redeemed by the blood of Christ. All our mistakes are forgiven through Christ who forgives us through faith in him.
im 16 and ive loved johnny from before i can remember my parents have a video of me from when i was five sing and dancing to ring of fire. Johnny in my opinion is one of the greatest singers of all time. His words can change lives i swear. He is the greatest R.I.P. the man in black. everyone pass his music to the next generation.
The lord broke John's and Elvis molds never will be another of them to grace our paths two of greatest men to pick up a flat top box made it talk threw melodies we all love and can be related too ❤
Johnny Cash inspired me to let Christ in my life because what I was doing wasn't working. He truly is a link between the poor and downtrodden and God. He is a link between heaven and hell - "and you do have a choice". His songs and his renditions of others work destroy my ego then build my soul back up. " You can have it all, my empire of dirt" amen
well it shows that he can reach us. I was twelve when I first heard him and I have been a christian since that time. I thank god for mr cash. and i hope you will find what I found in his music.
I used to copy, my dad's tapes, and even though i was 7 or 8 years old, i understood Johnny, and all that he stood for. And i have never forgoten his music!!
Johnny Cash was a hard man to be married to, if you catch my drift, and he struggled with addiction and substance abuse until he got too old to party hard. Quite an imperfect man. But still an impressive man of God. He didn't write about it in UA-cam comments; he lived it the best he could and relied on God's help for the rest. God doesn't require us to be perfect. Thank God.
None of us are perfect. God takes us from where we are and continually makes us better as we continue in our relationship with Him. We will never be perfect, but it is the struggle towards that unattainable goal that keeps giving us something to strive for and room to keep growing. This is modeled (not by accident) by the chivalric code. Nobody can live up to it, but the continued struggle to come closer and closer to living out its ideals is the source of nobility -- the ability to lead. Recognizing the failure and continued struggle on a personal level in their own lives, ideally would lead to fair rulers who were not overly harsh with those who failed in the same way they did. A good ruler realizes his (or her) own imperfections and does not require perfection from those under his/her rule. Unfortunately, it was an ideal that was rarely lived up to. In the same way we, as Christians, need to recognize that different people are at different places in the path of their faith with unique challenges that God is working on in different areas of their lives. Unfortunately, this is often not the reality. Christianity is too often used as a way to look down on others, denigrating those who are working on struggles another has overcome and not considering that the other person has overcome other, more daunting struggles. Additionally, the problem in another's life that I see is not necessarily the problem God has prioritized in another's life. It is sinful for me to try to distract a person from the deficiencies God is leading him/her to work on by telling him/her that they must fix the problems I see, first. We must take people as they are, without judgement. If we get to know a person well enough that that person confides in us what God is working on in that person's life, it is good to give support and hold them accountable. Otherwise, we should not take the position of God and point out the flaws that WE would prioritize. Cash was an imperfect person. He had his flaws. He had his faith. He had the issues God was working on. He was a brilliant musician and will be honored as one of the greats for centuries to come. I only hope that his personal story that shaped his music will be included.
thank you for posting this video..i never get tired of hearing about the grace of Jesus, and especially appreciate hearing his praises sung by Johnny Cash..he is so real and down to earth
Some folks just or don't understand Johnny's work because they've never been knocked down to their knees. The reason Johnny's words are so powerful lies in the one fact, That he Johnny Cash was driven to his knees at some point in his life. He was a rebel driven to Redemption !
honestly, how can anybody give this song or any johnny cash song a dislike. Its crazy he was making music for fifty years and his albums got progressively better as he got older in my opinion. Best lyrics in music....Ever
i dont care what anyone says im 19 and ive love johnny cash since i was young and have a great deal of respect and admiration for a true musical legend he has written with pure raw emotion from his own experience and if that dosent make him increadible then i really dont know what to think of the world anymore !

Just think think how Johnny Cash would feel to hear all the harsh words when he's trying to get a personal and important message across. It's quite beautiful. We can be greatful that there was such a talented person to give us a part of him.
Johnny was in a class by himself; there was an honesty about the man, and he never hid his flaws or put on airs. What you saw is what you got. When he sang about the LORD, it was always with tremendous impact. I love the song "When The Man Comes Around"! This one is awesome as well!

Even as an atheist I cannot help but being moved by this song and the faith of Johnny.
He always sang from the heart. To hear him is to believe him.

Johnny was in a class by himself; there was an honesty about the man, and he never hid his flaws or put on airs. What you saw is what you got.
When he sang about the LORD, it was always with tremendous impact. I love the song "When The Man Comes Around"! This one is awesome as well!

This is Great, so powerful
Lyrics
From His hands it came down
From His side it came down
From His feet it came down
And ran to the ground
Between heaven and hell
A teardrop fell
In the deep crimson dew
The tree of life grew
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood
Clung to the tree
And were redeemed by the blood
From the tree streamed a light
That started the fight
Round the tree grew a vine
On whose fruit I could dine
My old friend Lucifer came
Fought to keep me in chains
But I saw through the tricks
Of six-sixty-six
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood
Clung to the tree
And were redeemed by the blood
From His hands it came down
From His side it came down
From His feet it came down
And ran to the ground
And a small inner voice
Said "You do have a choice."
The vine engrafted me
And I clung to the tree
And the blood gave life
To the branches of the tree
And the blood was the price
That set the captives free
And of the numbers that came
Through the fire and the flood
I Clung to the tree
And was redeemed by the blood
Nothing but the blood!
I lived it love you jonny
