Absolute masterpiece of multitrack production. Alex Sadkin is the nerve-wracking mastermind of this all, including Nick's sublime synthesizer performance - fully taking benefit of the newly introduced Fairlight CMI sampler, John's fantastic bass, and above all the incredible vocal harmonies (those semitone modulations on the pre-chorus such as 23:11 are very difficult to sing). The sound selection is top-notch, it still sounds modern over 40 years after recording.
I've been listening to this song for 40 years and never noticed that the chorus harmony vocal on the last syllable of "bi-ZAAAARE" (23:42) is well and truly bizarre. And it is definitely intentional because they do it every time but only on the word 'bizarre'. Way to sneak that in there, Simon!
Dude.. this is so awesome. Thank you for posting! What the internet was literally made for. You really should do this for Duran Duran's The Chauffeur... PLEASE!!!
Great interpretation. I have always been fascinated by remixes since 1981, the way people hear the music is never dull, one day I will buy some kit and start my own hobby!
They probably came from Guitar Hero. A lot of isolated tracks have shown up on UA-cam in the last few years, and they've been typically credited to the game.
I heard from a real guru, that the bass can be off-time a bit actually leading the rhythm flexibly. However for me is more noticeable that the bass is off-tune in general.
Love Andy's guitar.. Compare this to that nothing session guitarist they've been using the last decade and its clear why their music has been so bad the last 15yrs
The vocal section is supreme.
Clearly, Simon's new vocal style is the biggest factor in the success of this song.

Superb! A peep behind the studio curtain. With all the instrumentation you get a true sense that less is more.

What software did you use to separate the tracks?
There is no software for this. These are the original tracks!!!
What did u use to get it nicely isolated like this?

The synthesizer os so brilliant. Has a Indian sound. I'm so done
I could listen to stuff like this all day long! Check out Yes Owner of a Lonely Heart if you haven't already too!
This could actually be John playing... but i am not sure...it is a bit off time sometimes but not much

Most pre pro-tools recordings are like that.
Remember John uses tons of syncopation. Which is basically playing off time on purpose.
@@tafcst530its good playing
