This is the lot - all five parts I've up'ed are the complete programme - even twenty years ago an hour long slot on commercial television was really only 44 minutes.
Thanks for putting this up Phil, I've been a huge Level 42 fan since about 1998. I'm only 28, but I've got all their albums and taken a real interest in their music. I love all their albums, especially STANDING IN THE LIGHT, FOREVER NOW and I really like RETROGLIDE, which I know is a controversial thing to say it seems. I've subscribed to your channel, so if you have any Level 42 programs / gigs please upload as it would be amazing to watch. I'm seeing them in Southend in October, can't wait.
Here I am, a brand new fanatic, in 2023 age 60, finding out they are fantastic WAAAAY beyond "Something About You," which I heard as a full adult in 1985 but disregarded because I was rabid for hip-hop, which was still in its infancy at the time. Boy did I miss out!
I prefer the sound of the JD through TE amps and cabs as compared to his Status King Bass and TC stuff, although his new gear is more refined this has that funky rawness !
I'm sure every band faces that decision about whether to stay cool and underground, or uncool and commercial. It's not a case of selling out to me, it's a case of buying in. Who's gonna turn down a bigger audience and more money. Plus their commercial stuff was still talented, as they're all competent players, and better than some of the drivel around today by a long chalk !!
fantastic post !!!! My favourite band !!! love mike at the beginning of this vid hahaha was his arse on fire ???? Check out 1:22 , he's singing out of the top of his head !!!! Sack the guy who sets his mic up ....LEVEL 42 FOR EVER !!!!!
When Mike dances, it reminds me of when he was in the IT Crowd lol
Outstanding musicians, Level 42. Tight as fuck. Chords and progressions are so brilliant too!
This is the best version I reckon .. without going on too long ....
early level is the best...43, heathrow, 88, foundation and empire etc...best funk band going!
Remember forcing me mum to watch this when it was first on - was really into Level 42 in those days - thanks for putting it up.

Super rare gem here too - ‘83 perhaps?
Yeh, I saw this at the time and have it on original VHS! Always thought I had the only copy!! (apart from Ch 4)

Seen this before but it's blowing my mind that Mark has a cigarette in his mouth while playing.
Awww.. . Mike ...such a jumping bean.
This is the best!
Mike's face at 1:38 - he is clearly loving the slapping!!! There's no messing around with the bass on this one is there? In your face!
Think this gig is where they took the live pictures for the "A Physical Presence" album.... Great album !!!
Steve mcqueen on bass 😆
I always used to think that too………as in Steve McQueen in ‘The Great Escape’ as Virgil Hiltz, great minds eh ?
thanks a million for this

Terry Capewell So do I. I love the Jaydees. In fact I have/had two myself. A Calibas (sold in 2003) and a Classic series 1 (Mark King).
Hi yes i have the brixton gig.

Mike Lindup, the OG of Hype Men! Flavor Flav gots nothing on this dude.
is there a standalone recording of this gig?
hehe mike goes mad!
The best white basse player
He definitely has a redish tinge to him ...
You tell me if another band can play like that.... I.. Don't... Think so
mark smoking?
Yeah, Mike does like to have fun when he doesn't have to play keyboards.
For me they lost it in 85/6, just became too chart orientated and lost most of their character and inventiveness.
