Differential Equation xp2-(x-a)2 = 0 p discriminant is x(x-a)2 = 0 can you please show the substitution steps showing that x=0 satisfies the differential equation and x=a does not. Simple substitution x=0 seems to leave a2 =0 which is not correct. Please clarify. Thanks.

We have treated c as a variable and others x and y as constant..And so we have differentiated it..
