Awesome! Blows me away to see these guys recognize Prince AND I'm a big LA GUNS fan to boot.. Dream is to see them in LA someday...
I love this. As much as I love late 80s hair metal, I also loved Prince's lyricism and musicianship. Prince is often underrated in rock circles, this is a great tribute.
LilRaisin Acres whew, doesn't take much to please you at a live show I guess... I've got almost forty years of this stuff under my belt but this ranks as one of the worst sounding live shows and an improv song I've ever heard. This is awful and rivals Aerosmith's late 70's early 80's live stuff when they were too fucked up to even play
hes not underated by musicians...paul mcCartneys favorite guitarist....one of mine 2.....in my top 5 of alltime greatest musicians ...easily

when the metalheads notice you, you're a big fucking deal. I spent time "splitting" my life between my dad's jazz records and my R&B, and going to rock clubs. With Prince, I never had to choose, but I took flak from my rock friends. They thought he was a lace dandy and strange, never mind the fact that he had Hendrix and Santana flowing thru his veins everytime he picked up a guitar. I was quiet. I knew Prince would outlast any changes in the scene. I was right. This is amazing. The last time I saw LA Guns, it was 1989 and I was 17. This brings both sides of my heart together. Thank you sincerely for posting this. I am sad, but beginning to deal with it. I loved Prince from 1979. When I say this man was my life, I am not kidding. My first musical obsession, and he borrowed and gave to us in ways we can only begin to grasp. Thank you.

Pretty much every musician in Hollywood LOVED Prince. Every band I have seen and know has covered Prince. TD is a fan along with Chad, Xristian and Danny. Eric Stacy and Brent Muscatt are also long time fans. Prince's Purple Rain movie was a huge motivator for most bands that started in the early 80's through today.

this is awesome, but sadly.....without Taime, in my opinion, its not Faster Pussycat, but that is just me. I feel the same way regarding Great White, etc, but besides all of that - love this and such an awesome night I bet it was
Taime was there & is still in Faster Pussycat. He just didn't sing on this song.
Oh ok. Yeah, I know he is still fronting Faster Pussycat, but like Great White, there is another version of Faster Pussycat out there as well that Brent did and unless he no longer does that, then wow, I am behind on the times a bit
Taime's current FP is absolutely amazing, def check them out if you get the chance - it'll take you straight back to the LA of old, when Rock was Rock!!! 3 of the band have been there 16+ yrs now anyway, and Ace (only 7yrs under his hat) is as Faster Pussycat as you can get!!! - I know what you mean though - Ace has a cool quote I read somewhere - when people ask about original band members he says "Hey, you still with that Sally girl from High School?" "Nah man, that was 20 years ago!" "Exactly!!!"

I’m a big fan of Phil ... but this guy is good, too.
Ironically, it takes almost to the end of the video to see any familiar faces from either L.A. Guns or Faster Pussycat. Sure, Most of the guys you see have been playing in these bands in the recent years, but the mainstays (Phil Lewis & Steve Riley from L.A. Guns and Taime Downe from Pussycat) aren't visible until the end. Taime Downe and Phil Lewis are seen singing together on the right of the video, and it looks like Ace and Xristian (current Faster Pussycat) are out front with Michael Grant (current L.A. Guns). Can't see who's playing bass or drums.

same was with scotty griffin. Lewis visibly first employs people who drag him upward, sucks them out and kicks out when they become threatening. I love the band, can't deny, but not what became of it and their leader. Also, missing Riley. A man with such heritage shouldn't have been treated like that. to me, LA Guns is just a memo now.

Prince being from Minneapolis..is Purple Reign a subtle tribute to the Vikings?
No it's alluding to the end of the world. When you mix blue and red it makes purple. So when it's raining in the sky(blue) and it mixes with the blood(red) that's raining down from the battle between good(angels and humans(repentant) verses the bad(demons and humans(heathens/sinners). So the mixture of blood and rain in the blue sky will make it purple. Trippy huh?

Chad Stewart the drummer from Faster was singing with the Asian Dude IDK. The guitar player with the bandana is from Faster also ... I don't like him or know his name n Idk who was on drums or who the fuck the Izzy Stadlin look a like is.... unlessss??? either way Chad is the closest thing to faster. hes been with em off n on for like 25 years. I hung out with him n we drank some beers together when he was drummin for LA Guns in Tucson a long while back. Good Dude!

I WAS a big fan of both bands...in fact, I have a bunch of stuff from both bands on my playlist. I should've explained myself better. I'm not gonna tell you anything you don't already know, that sound quality of recording a live performance is very difficult. Way too many cellphone vids, etc, etc. I never meant to get personal but evidently I did. For that I do apologize. Never did I question the talent on that stage. In fact, it's great ur still hammering away at it. Oh well, I've had worse said about me. We're pretty close in age and have seen the rise and fall of a bunch of different genre's of bands. I've spent money on both bands LP's and shows. I've earned the right to have an opinion I think...that said, I do know how to use a delete button also. This is where I x-fill motard.
Please stop with the Purple Rain tributes. They've been, although well intentioned, mostly awful. These clowns sound like a pub band for fuck sakes. Springsteens was terrible as well. If you want to hear Purple Rain, check out the transcendent 20 minute version by the greatest to ever do it somewhere on this site
