This is so weird to hear at this speed xD Normally about halfway through, the level speeds up and the music speeds up too, so it's really bizarre to hear it constantly at the same tempo! Cool though ^^

The console itself speeds up the music. Same story with speed shoes. The tracks just get faster, it's not a seperate track.

I personally think it's because people born in the early 2000's ended up seeing the latter half of the 90's, and the 80's naturally had an impact on the 90's
so theoretically despite never growing up in those times, someone may be nostalgic for stuff from the 2 decades before their birth decade

It almost sounds like you're on a journey and the further along you get towards your destination, the more instruments (channels) are included until they all culminate at the end. I almost wish that the special stage was like this. Along with the music speeding up, the more time you take they should add more channels to "up the ante" a bit.
