I really enjoy what you said about "glamourizing" farming, it's a really nice idea ! in Europe, we have a mouvement called "permaculture" and the idea is pretty much the same + we try to leave some space on the farms for the wilderness, bugs, birds, amphibians and wild humans. You can visit a place called Madonna House in Combermere, Canada, where they live a very simple farm life. It's really beautiful! I recommend checking them out. Anyone is welcome there to stay for free, and work with the community. Just shoot them an e-mail. =)

Anyway, I really enjoy how you totally are a city kid in your head, with city values, but still openminded enough to get acquainted to the universe of modern farming. I'm on the same path, grew up in Brussels, and dreaming of one day having a small scale farm somewhere nearby :)
