Nothing looked more natural than Steve standing next to that anvil. Heavy metal. My grandpa worked in some kind of a machine shop. Wish I knew more about it now. He used to come home pretty beat up. Worked your butt off just to keep food on the table and a place to stay. Not much left over for anything else.
Really enjoyed this one, hadn’t ever seen it on here before. Still can’t get over the size of the moldboard hangin on the side of the plow engine. It actually reminds me of the adjustable moldboard on the road wideners I used to get called out of the hall to work on and run. Great video
Oh yea. The Legendary number 40. I have been to this yard many times and rode both of those trains up to Ruth and back, The number 40 steam whistle is my ring tone on my cell phone. Thank you for sharing, Steve.
These are the vids I like. Very much looking forward to more of these. Me and my dad would go out to old mining claims and rail yards when I was a kid. Just me and him every spring and fall. I was at that one you just filmed at about 40 years ago. I'm digging up old pics now as I'm writing this. It was back in the 70s. He has passed about 25 years ago. A lot of cool history at those locations
Your work ethic and persistence is admirable. I dig the idea, keep doing you. Your knowledge, wanting to share it along with being an honest man is very much respected and appreciated 👍
Can you imagine how hot that blacksmith shop got? Yes, they were tough back then. We have a steam loco up here, went for a ride this summer. It was a lot of fun. 15 mph was what we were travelling at.
Darnell, you nailed that one for thinking outside the box. Looking at the safety first sign and thinking to myself before you even showed it in the background, where is the sign that said "X" number days with out a accident. That anvil with its tool holder peg needed some of the tools that fit it there where you could grab them and shape the steel your working with into a piece ready for the hammer press and how many fingers and thumbs laid on the ground when some guy with a two day hangover missed and took a guys hand off. All those tools hanging that blacksmith knew just exactly what they were for. I could smell the creosote in those ties thinking "what were they thinking" health be damned. I wanted to mention to you that up to date videos coming from canada middle ground clear across canada they must not do re bar there as the old cars, trucks, coe's, mobile homes and motor homes in the wrecking yards with lots of good metal left in them, not frame up restores but rigs that could be massaged to life again. I seen this one place up there for sale with enough on the front row to pay for the whole place. Barron dessalett (way out of anywhere)place where there was newer stuff with cummins engines and other stuff just setting cause it broke down and got towed including some bad ass tow rigs all there for the low price of (they don't tell you) in the Alberta area and on one of the main highways but no one really working. Even a nice shop (decent I would rate it) with tool boxes and shit everywhere. Like a rich man spent it all there and didn't have a clue or just lost interest in my perfect place to die welding up or what ever. Turn key I figure. Shame to see it all turn to shit if someone doesn't save it. You could be in two countries doing what you love collecting stuff that will disappear. Even better is the fact that they did see one thing good, All fords in one spot, all chevys one spot, all cryslers in one and motor homes in one spot and not bunched together. Plenty of room to grow, large trucks too. If I were younger, I would be on it like flies on shit. I have seen enough videos to tell that they are not scraping cause it costs too much to truck the steel. Hope that you look into it... even old time gas pumps... you name it and its there. Best a luck Steve and doen't inhale the gas, exhale it or the brain man
Pretty cool to see some of my local history, "Baldwin locomotive works" kicking ass across the country. I live in southeastern PA. My area is rich with railroading and industrial history.👍
That was really cool stuff on and about the trains could you show us more when you get time love to see it it’s very interesting machinery thank you for show us
. It's too bad that's all becoming a lost art . Most kids today couldn't even lift that material , let alone work it ! That big wing plow would also be used for shelving early season storms to make room for later season snow . Pretty cool stuff . Thanks for puting it out there .
U want to see some bad ass little steam trains come to Heston steam museum in indiana they are amazing little pieces of machinery and they have old steam driven equipment from back in the day
Since you like museums if you ever get a chance come through Nebraska on I 80 and see Pioneer Village in Minden and the Strategic Air Command museum west of Omaha. You won't regret the experience.
@@WelderUpVegas Pioneer village has more "man stuff" than any museum I've ever been to. Building after building of cars, bikes, trucks, tractors, steam engines. Takes a day just to take it all in.
You are right about that Steve anyone that lived in the early years of this nation worked a lot harder for everything. Just washing Landry had to hand wash everything. Nothing went to wast. Bottles were reused.
Actually railroad ties work great I lived in a railroad tie cabin from the age of eight to 10 or 11 years old. We were in the middle of building our house that I grew up in. And keep in mind this is northern Minnesota right up by lake vermilion
TRENT DUBOSE lol I agree with OP. I explore places all the time bc I drive trucks and see neat stuff. Breaking stuff is just as bad as gang tagging, only low life undesirable hoodlums do shit like that.
Might want to check, I believe I read years ago that if the tracks were well built/maintained steam engines could cook. 1890s(?l the record was around 125mph !!
Lol, there's a story of an ice boat racing a train in Wisconsin, around the turn of the century, that was clocked at over 140mph ! LMAO, talk about express delivery! Thanx for the content!
Love these videos!!! Might watch the vandalism next time though. A lot of people will call you out and damn near what to murder you over breaking already broken glass. Lol keep the cool shit coming BRO!
Grouse video bud, I love how passionate you are about your work, and being a welder myself I share the same interests as yourself and always seem to learn something newevery time I see your show or one of your videos Wether it be a piece of history about how the boys did it all back in the ol days or just some cool way you have of fabricating something on one of your builds, either way I reckon you guys do awesome work, love your videos and can never wait to see what's next on your build list! Any chance of getting a welder up shirt sent to me all the way down here in Australia!?? 😂😂🇦🇺 You guys fuckin rock 🤟🤟
If that was in England,J D Weatherspoons would stick a bar and some near end of life beer and a selection of self aware mongs to serve it and call it a pub, currently your toilets are pristine compared to the afore mentioned pub chain, good look with your rat look motel chain😉
"Lined the walls with asbestos so you should be good" 🤣 Classic Steve ! 😎👊
Very cool, thanks for bringing us along. God Bless. (Ironworker LU-15/Rebar) !!!

Love the craftmanship of the steam engine, snowplow, steam compressor .the big hammer
I'd be perfectly fine seeing them put back into service. That plow is badass, and I would never leave that smithy.
Looks like the "Bates Motel" I bet it was a cool place back in it's day! Trains are super cool. And Steve is a "Bad Mo-Fo" for sure.....

Rattke snakes ain't got anything on some of the snakes in Austrslia (some are considered to be the deadliest in the world).Love the outdoors though.

Dont vandalise. Explore with respect , just like the black smith area.
I agree. Doesn't matter how old or run down it looks. It's history and belongs to somebody. You are just destroying it for others.
Loved it keep it up besafe
That's my kind of Motel 8. 👍✌👍
I gotta ask why didnt you make the rear bed on your hauler longer?
Huh 5 minutes in now you're in a town called Ely. Funny I grew up not too far from Ely Minnesota .
Good video
Definitely had aircompressors 120 years ago. And those trains would easily do 65mph. Some steam engines that old did well over 100mph.
Yes sir, look at the old mines prior to the 1900's they used air compressors.
I enjoy your UA-cam better than the discovery channel show
I wanna stay there.
Steve your the greatest😝😝😝😝😝😝
Bad ass brother
Cant wait to stay... What's on breakfast menu?
Cool shit as always!
Steve, how much do you charge to stay at your motel? Thanks in advance.
