My favourite ways to divide a circle into however many segments you want using a compass and straight edge. Perfect for making mandala grids or any number of DIY projects really.
    7, 9 and 11 aren't 100% accurate but they're extremely close.

You should be twirling your pencil as you draw to keep the tip sharp. It results in consistent line width/weight, and less sharpening.

I first watched your videos after Lou Davis recommended your instructions on geometric art. Honestly I was mesmerized, how DID you do that? And in the past few months I have watched and rewatched videos and have learned to handle a compass (watch out for the point!). I am beginning to create a few simple designs and having fun. I love the combination of lines and color and use these designs in my modest watercolor paintings. Thank you for these videos, and your time and your expertise. We all need challenges, and successes, those AHA! moments. Thank you for letting me have some.

me encanta, la precisión es absoluta.
para pasar de 3 a 6 y de 5 a 10 con prolongar las lineas hubiese sido suficiente.
bravo por el canal, cada día me gusta más tu trabajo😊

    Geometry made
Me understand division more now than it ever did before, knowing odd numbers and how they can be divided really made me look at Platonic solids in a different way, 9 and 12th star really interests me, when before all I drew was hexagons and cubes

    I found this ...
It’s impossible to construct the angle 2π9=40∘ using a straightedge and compass. (It is possible using a marked straightedge or a ruler)
The problem comes down to trisecting angles. We can trisect our circle once, giving 120∘=2π/3.
Bisecting is always available so we get π/3 and π/6. But there’s no way to get 2π/9 without another trisection, which is impossible with a straightedge and compass.

Ok, so divide by 10. Then divide each of those sections by 4 by halfing them twice. That should be 40 equal sections, right? Gonna try soon just doing some research

It would have been great if you had made it to number 12 at least. You know, it's a semiperfect, highly abundant and superior highly composite number because of its factors (2, 3, 4 and 6 excluding 1 and 12 itself).

I do not think dividing the circle into 5 equal parts is done accurately. Mathematically speaking, when you found the 1/5th of the diameter, it was not accurately divided into 5.

Not true at all, that’s a very classic pentagon construction.
Though the heptagon and nonagon can’t be constructed with only classic compass/straightedge (unless he’s using some more powerful technique like neusis), but it looks like just a good approximation.

Are you claiming to have divided a circle into 9 EQUAL parts? I ask, because it would mean that you have constructed a 40 degree angle, which is known to be impossible. If you are claiming to divide the circle into equal parts, please provide a proof for each of your constructions.
