I do not understand why such arrogance and resentment when replying to Oppossition MP's questions. Oppossition MPs are not enemies of anyone. They representing Singapore Citizens too. They have similar objectives of making Singapore a good country. Their questions are what Singaporeans having in their minds and hearts. Its better and wiser to address it in parliament in harmony than anarchy on the streets. Presence of Oppossition has help to ensure Singapore continue to be safe and peaceful country because all doubts and issues will be brought-up in a civilised discussions in parliament.
I thought I was watching PM's question time at the House of Commons and then I dozed off. Watching again, what Sylvia explains is correct. Here is a debate on A MOTION about case still pending for appeal and its disingenuous for HSK to structure the motion as calling into question the character of WP leaders at this point. Unless he can foretell how the appeal judges will rule.
Equally stupid is Parliament can pass such a motion that isn't proper to be tabled at this moment to begin with.

If the motion is passed, every Singaporeans and new citizens should be worried of such abuse of power in parlaiment. It seems the PAP has its own self interest to guard instead of our own citizens who believed the law should take precedent above party interest. As silvia Lim has rightly put it, the PAP is getting very excited over an inconclusive judgement against the WP.

It is quite obvious that many of you do not understand what the debate is all about and are quick to jump into conclusions. The motion doesn’t affect much. It just shows where PAP and WP stand in the governance of Singapore. The motion does not force WP to be recused from dealing with financial matters (as many oppies assume).

Nobody is insulting integrity, but to use it loosely and repetitively to insult any person, who has yet to be proven guilty, is quite telling and more so when the insulting party is not at all perfect, glaringly. You get the picture.

@@peterchew4018 Do you know why they are homeless? Have you spoken to them to find out? I used to work as a social worker. I cannot tell you how many people I've encountered chose to be 'homeless', because they prefer to be independent. I have even encountered people sleeping on the streets even though they have a home. One of my clients who is visually impaired, refused to apply for long-term financial assistance from the government, even though he was qualified for it. I kept insisting that he should apply for financial assistance, however, he chose to continue to sell tissue papers and assured me that he will consider that option if he really needs it.
It's unfortunate that people are so quick to assume that people who were seen collecting cardboards or selling tissue papers on the streets, do not have a choice but were doing it to make ends meet. But they have never thought that they were the ones who chose to do it, just because it is perceived by the individual as hard labour.

Citizens will definitely like handouts or subsidies or freebies from the government. Easy money lesser burden, etc. However need to think of the future, what this cultivates, the burden for future generations, the stability of the country, etc. People are always greedy. It is just like a child. This reminds me of several documentaries. One of them is a child who is 2 years old who smokes. He started small but no control on and his appetite increased. The rosy side is he is able to smoke but the dark side which does not have immediate effect is his health and other complications. I mean it is ok to vote for oppositions but do not vote in impulse. Have a deep thought of what they say. Take it back, think it through not only for yourself and not only even your children but your descendants as well.
Isn't it contemptuous in nature to comment on an on-going trial in Court. The House need not to play as judge when they are the Executives. Else, what the Courts are for? Go to the Court if you need an action or injection, be it interim or permanent.

The honourable Deputy Prime Minister appears to speak as a "commoner" although he was educated in the UK. Why is it that more than a few PAP MP's have below average looking teeth or crooked teeth. disappoints me to read the comment section. majority of the commenters don't even grasp the conflict in their arguments, and are just bent on commenting hate remarks on Minister Heng. Sure there are things that Singaporeans may be unhappy about with the government, but yes, the parliament members are paid to discuss many matters. It can include social topics, economic problems, and it also includes political issues. The amount of political illiteracy and bigotry in the comments section is really disappointing.
