Thank you for your massiv Deadlock content output, Jonas. I always learn something new and guides like these are not something to be taken for granted. So, I just wanted to say a big thank you again! :D
One thing about zipline jumps I don't think i saw covered were wall jumps, you can get some crazy momentum off of them from zip jumps and often make the rotation between lanes with just a dash to a wall and wall jump off of it
As an absolut beginner Deadlock and MoBa wise: thank you so much for those guides on the basics! Movement is always a big issue for me (especially since I come from console and only starting playing shooters with mouse and keyboard last year), but I feel like with those examples you gave, I have a good list to just practice in sandbox.
I'd love to see you learn Viscous. He has crazy depth, combos, and item interactions. I feel like with your proclivity to theory-craft it'd be a perfect fit.
Another great vid Jonas. I was wondering, I noticed on several videos that certain heroes have hidden or under represented stats, like the movement scaling with spirit for Grey Talon. I was wondering if a video on "hidden hero mechanics" could be a thing. When I was brand new, I didn't even realize Bebop's bombs scaled by stacks via enemy detonations until I watched your stream.
Its not hidden! You can see a purple star in the hero menu on grey talon! However Bebop has built in bullet resistance for instance! Scales with his level
Yo nice vid, i'm always interested in movement as an old TF2 player and i'd say the only thing i'd consider missing from here as one of the basic movement mechanics is air strafing! I understand as CS is more popular, it's kind of a niche thing there for the most part so it might not seem that basic but in a game with so much air movement as deadlock, it's an absolute game changer that doesn't take that long to learn or require any absurd mechanical prowess. As far as i can tell it works exactly like TF2's (and by extension i assume like any other valve source game) so i'd look into any TF2 airstrafing guides if you are not acquainted with that mechanic. Keep it up!
Thank you for the feedback! I don’t consider air strafing as beginner movement so I didn’t put it in! I also asked my chat all the stuff they’d want from a basic movement guide and nobody mentioned air strafing, might add it in an advanced guide later on
Something that may be for more advanced players but is incredibly strong is using the zipline and wall jumping off the side of a building after dropping. You get so much momentum off of it and still have your jump and dash ready.
This is probably more advanced but one thing it took me some time to internalize is that you don't have to jump at all to mantle. You will mantle as long as you're holding the space bar, so you can just hold it and climb some things like cars and statues that might require multiple mantles. You can also use meleeing to save on stamina in some situations - not only does heavy melee do a sort of stamina-less mini air dash, it is also fully cancellable into a mantle. If you're just short of an ledge you're trying to get on to, you definitely want to be holding space so you can mantle up - but the problem is that if you misjudge the distance, and you're not already holding spacebar, you will burn one point of stamina doing an airjump. Solution: melee first! The moment you start a melee, either light or heavy, you can start holding spacebar and enter into a mantleable state, and both light and heavy melee can be cancelled entirely into a mantle action if you are indeed close enough. This can also be useful if you are airborne and suddenly want to grab the zipline. Just do a light melee and start holding spacebar, and as soon as the melee is done, you'll get on the zipline. One thing I have yet to test is if you can use this cancelling to bait out parries if you're close to a mantleable object. It might be a bit weird but if it works, could be an extra mindgame in close combat in some areas.
Do you plan on making a video explaining what every statistic does and what to look out for? Only recently I started to understand what a purple star next to a stat means thanks to your videos and I'd like to discover more not so obvious details about the game ^^
The game has a good amount of varying skill required for different tech. At the simplest level just sliding down stairs or after a dash makes you feel so much faster overall and is very easy to practice. Then you move up to dash Jumps and other tech that is actually tough at first. It does a good job easing you in. You're not expected to wavedash from day 1 to compete.
The amount of view you lost breaks my heart. I know i'm a nobody but I hope a message like this could encourage you even just a little bit. I hope that you can build a new community around not the game you play but who you are as a streamer. Seriously I can't explain how grateful i am to you. I used to just watch your videos and not like or subscribe but now i feel obliged to as you've made me smile and laugh countless times. I hope you will be able to keep up your content even if things go south. Love you man.
The games not out yet, but when it drops he'll get his views back. Plus he quit valorant because he wasnt having fun; now he is. That's more important than views.
hey :) i love your video, it helped me a lot! i have a question on the walljump, because i am trying to figure out, how i can "influence" the bounce, like its not that far away. i like your solution with the melee attack, but i was wondering if there is any solution how you can control it, maybe you have an idea :)
Damn it Jonas now everyone will be able to catch me because they know my tricks XD. I’m going to miss being able to escape most scenarios due to better movement but good video please make an advanced movement vid one day ❤

Worth noting that the heavy melee makes a lot of noise, so keep that in mind if youre trying to be sneaky with your movement.
Honestly I love your content it has skyrocketed my skill level and understanding of the game thank you

Viscous looks sick but its so fun to hook people with bebop 😅

"Movement Guide for Beginners" ... and explains "walljump2jump-into-heavy-melee-graple".
I love it

Thank you for clarifying the input for wall jumping that was the most confusing part when it was first released.
was looking forward to this thanks!

thanks, very cool stuff
good guide, didn' t knew this game has such deep movemovent tech.
Right? I was wondering how people switched lanes so quickly. Well now I know.
I had no idea you can just use Crouch to leave ziplines and go crazy with momentum
The biggest movement tech for beginners is using a teleporter
The crouch is a life saver tip my god

Ivy and Lash get additional air dashes, I'm pretty sure.
I believe their base for each is two.
At the very least, Ivy movement goes crazy.

I've only played 3 games now and can hit the dash jump 9/10 times. The timing is very instinctual.
