- Earlier, I was planning to show the Carmen chase from WITWICS (V 3.5) but the screen couldn't record properly. So instead I am showing you gameplay of the Time version using the recently downloaded virtual PC app (Thanks to runescapeguy1023 for teaching me and giving me the file.) Enjoy your history lesson
Ahh man. This was THE best game in the world! I learned invaluable information about history from this. Now I’m 26 with a degree in History from a UC, and I can’t thank the people who made games like this enough for sparking a love of history in young kids. We NEED this game back!! haha Why can’t they remake it as an app??? Ugh...I’d pay good money to replay this again.

Seriously, why haven't they uploaded those games to Steam? Those and the Oregon Trail games would sell like hotcakes on nostalgia alone.
They probably don't work on modern computers.
Electricspaceodyssey HMH is the current owner of CS (it's a long story that involved the brand being sold to 4 different companies in the space of 4 years from 1998-2001)...
They haven't done much with the brand since, but you could try contacting them about uploading the games to steam.
They also have a licensing page on their website which has some very famous 90's brand just sitting there.

The rights are still owned by another company, when Broderbund went out of business, the rights to CS were bought by another.
I remember trying to repeatedly use the torch on the Sphinx, and the boatman telling me again and again "please don't torch the stonework!"

Good old days on Windows 98. If only kids have games like this these days. Instead of being 8 years old and playing CoD. This and Oregon Trail was my shit along with Hoyle Board Games. I'm 25 and I would love to play these again.
This was one of my most cherished childhood games. New operating systems have made the hardware I need for this obsolete and no linger covered even though I've still saved the CD-ROM all this time out of nostalgia/love. Thanks for the upload! It brought back so much!

The best game EVER - I learned so much from this and still know facts from it today! Definitely where my love of History was born. I would love to play this version again now and share it with my children

This was actually the BEST GAME!! I played it so often as a kid and to this day I still remember heaps of the invaluable history knowledge I learnt! The Japanese one was my favourite!

You know what we need? We need another Carmen Sandiego project, whether its a cheesy game show, an awesome new cartoon or a game, kids nowadays need her! Think about it: she is a sly, clever character, she ALWAYS brought academic/educational stuff to the plate and we had fun learning! I understand that there are shows dedicated to children learning but come on: it's been 20 years since the last cartoon and 14 years since the last game, bring back the woman in red!

Just in case anyone is wondering, it is pretty easy to play this game again. I downloaded it from an old game site for like $7 (and I also got Backyard Baseball, Dust: Tale of the Wired West, their Titanic sequel, Carmen San Diego Word Detective, Pepper's Great Adventure Through Time and something else. Welllllll worth it. Heck I think I'm going to play it again now.
Hello there. Last night, I managed to find a way to play this game again and made a walkthrough of it, with a commentary. If you want to see it, I'd love to hear your feedback on the videos, especially because traction for it has been slow and I purchased comments for most of the videos (though I'm thinking about deleting some of them now).

I LOVED this game, it taught me so much! it was so cool at the time , so advanced.
This was definitely one of my favorite games as a kid, and I learned a lot of small historical facts from it. I feel sad that I can't play it anymore since computer systems have updated and it's no longer easy to install it or the other Carmen Sandiego games. But I'm happy that you have uploaded all the cases to watch, since it brings back the memories I had playing it so many times as a kid.
Ahhh, I loved this game, along with the “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego” computer game. I wish I could find a way to play these games from my childhood.

I have very fond, yet very distant memories of this game.
My grandparents bought me this game when I was in Elementary school! I played it allllllll the time. When you're playing it, you're not realizing that you're learning so much! Not until these subjects come up in school and you realize you know more than you think! I definitely need to run an old XP machine and have my kids play it!
For anyone wondering how to play this game: Just download Dosbox emulator and find an rom for it. (You're welcome)

That's the problem, I can't find a rom for it. All I can find is it's predecessor for the SNES.
They sell the old games on Amazon. Just not for current versions of Windows or Mac

***** Do you mean the emulators that require you to install an operating system yourself? If there's an emulator that will run this that isn't like that, I'm all for it
There might be one out there, I remember there being a website where a lot of DOS and post DOS games where converted to a browser friendly game.
Other than that, an emulator that runs a previous version of windows within your regular windows might be the only choice.

I love the Carmen games, but the one thing I didn’t like about Time and Math was that there wasn’t a way you could lose. I definitely love the games and learned a lot, but USA and World, you had a juice clock, and they required more effort. If you arrested the wrong one, you had to accept the penalty. Just made them more challenging.
