I was going to say that! 😐 Almost 1/2 of a video with ads? ATK, you can do BETTER!! (As suggested, why not give more description of the products like in a regular ATK comparison?)
I bought a basic robot vacuum (Eufy) a few months ago and I love it. Yes, I have to move things off the floor like the ottoman, cat tower, etc., but it cleans under the sofa and other large furniture beautifully. Meanwhile, I can cook dinner, do laundry and other house chores while it vacuums. I got it on a lightning deal from Amazon for $100, and I'm very happy with it.
The basic Eufy is a workhorse and an all-around great value. Thought my 11S bought on Prime Day in 2020 was dead, but turned out, it just needed a new battery, which was a $20 replacement. Gifted it to a friend and upgraded to a newer model that was less than $100 on Black Friday. Run it daily and am pleaeed/horrified with how much it picks up. And filters and other parts are inexpensive and easy to get on Amazon. Love it!
Look at Vacuum Wars. They independently test vacuums of all kinds for their UA-cam series. They've tested hundreds of robot vacs and compare everything to a category average, and against the top ranked in the test.
Did you not watch? She clearly compared two vacuums, one expensive, one less expensive. Both were acceptable. Some people only want the most expensive, some people want the best for the price. She didn’t go through a litany of unacceptable choices.
No robot vacuum that is connected to WiFi is worth the price of voluntarily giving up your privacy. They have cameras which have been documented to taking photos of your home, they know the exact square footage of your home including the number of rooms you have. I have a simple simple Eufy robot vacuum that isn’t connected to WiFi and does go in random zig zag patterns . It doesn’t have the bells and whistles but does do a great job of vacuuming without compromising my privacy.
Everything you do online is used with wifi, what's the difference? And btw robot vacuums with cameras is only in the high end models and its not even needed just a bonus feature.
I have a Roborock S7...had it since December 2021...love it. Looking to upgrade this year to one that auto empties the bin and washes the rotating mop pad and dries them....bought it on sale, $500
I’ve owned several roombas. They last, at most, 2 years. And over time, those gentle bumps up against the baseboards add up and the baseboards are scuffed. I’m so done with them.
I had the Roomba 8i self-emptying vacuum and I must have had a lemon because it NEVER filled up. My floors still felt dusty and so I'd vacuum over with my Dyson and the canister would be full of dust in no time. After a year and a half of this, I threw out the Roomba and just vacuum manually. I can't wait for the day that Dyson releases the U.S. version of a robot. I will be the first in line!
The Dyson robot has been plagued with issues. I don't think robot vacs replace traditional vacuums - there will always be a mess it can't pickup, or even reach, and always the need to deep clean. But dust shouldn't be left behind, however, some have poor hard floor performance because they don't make much of a seal on the floor - usually because they're height adjusted for carpets. Vacuum Wars on UA-cam has hundreds of reviews on vacuums.
As appealing and time saving robovacs are, with a dusty home like mine which I have to vacuum daily without fail, I need to manually do it because there are too many nooks and crannies the robovav won't get into. Also I regularly vacuum my curtains and the rails, my staircase, sofa etc... robovacs can't do that. So I'll still have to own a (strong) regular vacuum with long telescopic wand on top of the robovac if I bought one.
I’ve had a Roborock for going on 4 years now, and it continues to be one of the best purchases for home stuff I’ve ever made. It’s not a self emptying, and it doesn’t mop. It just keeps my floors clean for my once a month big vacuum and mop. Speaking of mops, my Tineco floor mop is my 2nd favorite home doohickey I’ve ever bought.
Agreed. Having mine for a few months, my assessment remains as what it was after I saw the result of it's first job: It's an 80% solution each time it runs. It may not get everything every time, but run a couple of times a week it replaces most of our need to use the big vacuum and when I dig that out, I can concentrate on cleaning corners and trim that I never had time for before.
This video covered none of the negatives: small bins that need to be emptied constantly, small filters that harbor odors, hair that gets caught on every wheel and brush, and batteries that will wear out in a couple years. Let's think about all the ewaste they create.
Y'all missed a couple of key metrics: How well does it operate with a cat sitting on top, and how well does it handle being herded and/or preyed on by cats, dogs, toddlers, et cetera? Because honestly robot vacuums are critter toys with a cleaning mode.
This was such a poor review!!! What other models did you test? What did you like or not like? What about the ones with mops attachments? Come on ATK, you can do much better than this! The video is 2:41 long but 45 seconds is just an ad for ATK. SMH.
I've had a Roomba i4+ for 3 years now, and love it. It does my whole home, on schedule, when I'm not home. I do have to remove hair every 2-3 cleanings. [I have hip length hair that really tangles up any vacuum.] It takes 5 minutes, 55 less than my old upright vacuum cleaner. It does need maintenance, but Roombas are designed to be user serviceable. They sell parts for most models on their website. I'll never be without one.
Friend had one. Very pleased with it. Then he got a puppy. Puppy left a deposit on the carpet. Along came the robot and sprayed it all up the wall, ground it into the carpet, got into its internals. His choice, get rid of the vacuum, train the puppy.
We have used two Deebot vacuums and both are great. When my son went away to school I gave him the old one and I bought a newer model with a collection bag. Replaced the battery in the original model as the charge was depleting. Also replaced consumables when the app said they were worn out. Very cost effective models and happy with their performance on the hardwood floors and tile.
My robot vac is a life saver….it’s amazing how much pet hair she picks up every day. My basset, Sadie, is so much more enjoyable because Rosie the Robot helps with the hair🤣😂🤣
The robot manufacturers thanks all of you people who were early adopters. You've provided durability testing and funded their next generation robots. This is exactly why I don't buy new gadgets until they've figured out all of the quirks. I save a lot of money that way and save space in the landfills.
i have not one, but THREE Dreametech robots. They're fantastic. One of them even connects to water and sewer lines so I don't need to empty and refill tanks. Roomba will never enter my home since that incident where the robot filmed a woman in the bathroom doing #2 and somebody inside amazon (roomba belongs to amazon) leaked the footage online.
I have a robot vacuum and tbh I love it a lot. My house is significantly cleaner. You definitely have to live a little differently or do quick prep work before running it but it really does a decent enough job to keep my house noticeably cleaner. I'm always shocked at how full the cannister is after I run it. Lots of hidden dirt all around the house. Can't recommend it enough.
I have the J7+, I'm on the iRobot select plan which costs me about $31/month. I get fresh bags, filters, and brushes sent to me, usually well before I actually need them, and next year I'll be upgrading to the newest model at no additional cost. I am somewhat frugal and by my calculation it's about the same price compared to buying the robot outright and also buy all the consumables over time. The only real downside, imo, is if I cancel the plan after my two year contract, I can keep the robot but it'll be bricked
I think there's a bigger question here - Are robot vacuums worth buying at all? How much effort do they really alleviate and how much is left behind to do by hand? Vacuuming by hand doesn't take that much time or effort and, in my home, there are masses of corners that a robot just wouldn't be able to deal with that are a snap by hand.
I have one and it is OK. I use it to keep the garage floor free of debris. I had a co-worker who had one for a while. It found and picked up a pet accident and used it to smear the carpet throughout his house. So, use with caution if you have pets.
Thanks, Lisa. But perhaps stick to cooking. iRobot is teetering towards insolvency and their vacuums are overpriced. Roborock has the latest/greatest technology and is often less expensive than Roomba/iRobot vacuums.
I love my robot vacuum if for no other reason then it keeps me from having to get down and vacuum under my bed. And my couch, and several of my chairs. I don't have to move those things anymore to get underneath them and it's worth every dime I spent on it for that reason if no other.
Their review is of OLD vacuums....I mean come on. Lots of new fancy robot vacuum cleaners with mops that wash can clean themselves and dry with hot air....ATK need to keep up!!
This leaves me a bit uneasy as we are getting into territory where products have features that can't actually be reviewed without serious technical review; because this isn't a simple oven with some electronics in it, but a device that connects off to cloud services and is now potentially collecting and storing private data about your home in ways that may or may not be concerning.... but is beyond the scope of easy review. Could the data collected by these be used by abusive exes to stalk their victims? Beats me, but I garauntee I wouldn't trust anyone saying it couldn't who hadn't done a thorough review of the data handling practices.
The original ATK testing was in Jan 2022 so it’s no wonder this video short is way behind in evaluating current technology. As an ATK watcher and website subscriber, this just seems like recycling old segments as clickbait hoping to get new subscriptions.
