- In this video, I show you how to remove the nose cone (or grill) on an early Tesla Model S, pre-facelift (2012-2016). This allows access to the 12V terminals to charge the battery or jump the car in the 12V battery goes flat.

Many thanks. I recently used this video to get the nose cone off my 2016 MS. However, only the negative connection was there, no positive in sight. But I found another video from a chap in Slovenia (I think), who shows you how to open the bonnet manually once the nose cone is off. You do need the key handy, as the alarm goes off as soon as you release the first catch (even though the 12v battery was so low the car had shut down).
Interesting stuff, invaluable info for an owner of that Tesla Model.
THANK YOU SIR!!!! was thinking of replacing the whole front and had no idea how to remove it, thank you.
Glad it helped
Who would have thought that I needed your video so soon. I just replaced the battery last summer and now it is already flat and parked for about week. Maybe the cold, who knows. Anyway, thanks again Matt. :-)
Glad it helped.
Thanks a lot, that was helpfull
G'day. Thanks for sharing this information :-)
Thank you very much for your video.
Glad it helped
Thanks!!!
Thank you for the Video, learned again something new! 👍
Usefull.
awsome
A small suction cup also works well
Good idea
I was able to take the nose cone off my Tesla but it’s missing the positive terminal. Any idea for what to do to jumpstart it now?
No +12V terminal? That's strange. You'll have to access the 12V battery directly. Ask in the "Tesla Model S Enthusiasts" or "Tesla Model S Owners" Facebook groups.
if anyone else has same problem as malik and myself ie no terminals behind the nosecone, once you have got it off it is easy to release the frunk hood, from that point on its not to difficult to access the 12v directly as GOgreenautos suggests.
what year is this vehicle used in the video?
2014
@@GoGreenAutos thank yoU
how maximum supported power load?
Still can't get my cone off. Pressing as hard as I can.
It it cold? Cold plastic doesn't flex, but does break and snap lugs off easily!
How to steal a number plate easy lol
Yes, true. Far too easy.
Someone stole this nose cone piece off of my 2013 model s and Tesla's quoted me like a $1,000 to replace
My 2014 is only $181 including tax.
