It truly pains me how different book is from the series. That’s the best way you can make a series flop, not giving those who are most excited for it something different.

Thanks. Its weird how the show and the books are so diffrent.. Some changes I can understand why they did them.. They tryed to make the world look bigger from the very first season. But some changes I can't understand why they did them... They jumped over some events, characters that will have an impact in the future.. There surely is material to make 10 episodes per season... This could have been the next game of thrones because in the books the world feels bigger than the game of thrones world
If you want to understand some of the changes in Wheel of Time, from the books to the show, just start with one thing... The show-runner is a gay intersectional feminist. That's the reason that nearly all of the men get The Last Jedi treatment. That's the reason that they are building up Nynaeve and Egwene into Mary Sues. That's the reason that they wasted about an entire episode on 1 unimportant character. Another reason for some of the changes is that the show-runner made an incredibly stupid creative decision... to turn the first season into a MYSTERY about who the Dragon Reborn is. Yet another reason is that the show-runner deliberately chose some writers who hadn't read the books, and thus don't understand them or the characters, or know where/how they are supposed to be "taking the audience on a journey". How are they supposed to "plot a trip", when they don't even know the "destination"? Yet another stupid creative/casting decision... was to cast their two biggest stars as SECONDARY characters... which naturally results in them getting turned into more important characters...which takes their limited time AWAY from the ACTUAL main characters. In turn, that compounded the results of the stupid decision to turn the first season into a "who is it" mystery... and LACK of development of 3 of our main characters.

It seems he wrote all of GoT season 5... which was when GoT started going downhill... and one each from seasons 6-8. 1st season was good, but it dragged a bit here and there. I’m sure a lot had to do with setting up and explaining the story line. But I seriously hope they tightened things up for season two. Was trying to watch season 3 of the Witcher, and by the 3rd episode I was like “this is so f---- boring!”

I'm referring mostly to the show's inability to put its ladies on a "high enough pedestal" (turning 2 of them into Mary Sues) without ALSO chopping its men off at the knees... or even higher, much like what The Last Jedi did to its male characters. Just to pick 2 of the secondary/tertiary characters... Agelmar in the books is acknowledged, even by his peers, to be one of the great generals of his time. In the show, he's an idiot. In the books, he is pro-Aes Sedai. In the show, he is anti-Aes Sedai. Abel Cauthon, Mat Cauthon's father, (Mat is one of the 5 main characters) is a good husband, and father. In the show, he's a womanizer... who does his thing right out in the open... even in front of his wife (Mat's mother).
Don’t forget that Thom in the show kills little girls and is a thief, and Thom in the books is a protector of the weak and a much beloved figure wherever he goes. And Rand is supposed to save the day in Tarwin’s Gap and become the Dragon, but instead he has a change of heart and declares “EGWENE IS FREE TO LOVE WHOEVER SHE WANTS!!” and then EGWENE and Nynaeve nuke an entire army and the Egwene literally reverses death, breaking the most important story rule in WOT, having never channeled before. Oh and how it’s all stupid Men’s fault that the world broke, instead of it being a singular woman’s greed (Lanfear) for infinite knowledge (since it’s based off of the Garden of Eden parable). Or how the warders are a bunch of homoerotic, militarily incompetent sex-slaves for the aes Sedai instead of the highly trained elite bodyguards they were in the books. Also can’t forget that the Whitecloaks are just evil for shits and giggles because it’s funny, instead of being based on the Inquisition and it’s equivalent motivations rooted in fear and mistrust. This is all because Rafe, who was sent a cease and desist letter by Jordan in the 90s because he kept writing erotic fanfiction of WOT characters without approval, held a grudge for thirty years and then made this show with the explicit intent of pissing off the fanbase and ruining the story (which he’s admitted to in dozens of tweets from the last 3 years). Plus the intentional miscasting of the core, and rewriting of every family structure present in the very first pages of the very first book. It’s intentionally disrespectful. The show was supposed to become famous by having fans get pissed off, and then say something that could be used to generate anti-fan backlash by the politically correct crowd who would then use this piece of media as a moralizing litmus test for their in group, much like having a KJV Bible in every hotel room nightstand.

Sadly, the show is a major departure from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time world. I was shocked at how bad it was. Major character and story changes for the show. Rafe Judkins should never have been handed the reins for Jordan's epic fantasy saga. The show is a major disappointment.
I haven't read the books, so I don't know how much deviation is applied in the TV series. But unfortunately, it is nowadays very common to adapt a book series into a TV show and forego a lot of narratives and plotlines. The producers most likely have their (good) reasons, but if you are a fan of the original work, I can understand the disappointment.

I’ve no idea why the show demonstrably made the point the dragon reborn could be either sex, when the books made clear the DR would be male. It’s just inviting the “they be woke narrative” and that serves what purpose?

This show was a terrible and boring adaptation, big on the boring. Bezos wanted the next game of thrones, but he got seasons 7 and 8
TLDR; It sucked. Don't watch it.
You missed an great oppertunity to just have somebody using the toilet for 2 minutes straight, that would have been funny... and more interesting.
