I'm very shocked that EA decided to cancel this in favor of the bland and generic MW2012 we have now. Clearly this prototype was supposed to continue the story after MW2005 and Carbon and this could've really been amazing but who really knows why EA decided to go for the Burnout style MW2012 instead. I can see the potential this prototype has for modders to take advantage of. If the entire Need for Speed modding community from the Underground games, MW2005, Carbon, NFS2015, and Payback could come together, take all of these prototype assets, build upon them, and overwrite the boring MW2012 with this, we can have a completely overhauled MW2012 that won't even have any trace of its former self left. While this comment does sound too ambitious, I know it can be done with some time, patience, and support. I personally always wanted to know what took place after Carbon and this game was supposed to be that continuation. Hopefully one day MW2012 will turn into the actual Most Wanted 2. (Should actually be called Most Wanted 3 since Carbon is actually Most Wanted 2.)
imo, Criteon is the best company you can put an arcade racer into the hands of, they had the whole story and everything sorted, probably a year to half a year away from completion but EA forced them to rush, must say they still redeemed it to an extent within a few months, but its actually really upsetting that this could've been the next game, honestly looked amazing

First of all, forget about the unfinished story missions, the cutscene for air jump and takedown action is more perfectly made than the final version. And secondly, weapons are more necessary for the player to use. Like the spike strip, it will be perfect to shutdown the cops that are running behind you. Last but not least, Cross' actor had claimed that Carbon was OFFICIALLY Most Wanted 2 since it was the direct sequel to Most Wanted.

They need to get back on this prototype and finish it, many of the assets are there, it has SOOOOO much potential. Tbh, this entire game looks like it took ideas from different games, like Hot Pursuit for example when you activate spike strips and wreck the cops. But this game could’ve been so much better with stuff like this.

the maps overall layout is pretty similar to the final. the downtown you see in the video doesn't change much (but its the only part that is really finished in this version) also PS3 was not lead platform so it received fewer map updates and lagged behind lead platform.
Ive always wandered why they used the same physics as in hot pursuit for most wanted and now i know why. There planning to incorporated the gadgets for hot pursuit into most wanted and give us the best of both worlds in most wanted 2

downtown start is just a random mission,with concept drawing for this mission cutscene,then return to normal gameplay,which you spawn in downtown with cops.
The fact that you even have access to these files you could just make a mod for NFSMW 2012 and replace the cutscenes with a “story” and make all of the files this mission. After all there is some things we can do with NFSMW 2012 anyway. Just make this whole thing a mod.

tbh, the racer was only meant to have 2, as you can see at the top but obviously this was a dev build so they just spammed it to probably speed up the testing process
