After the 3rd season, I decided to read Elmore Leonard's "Raylan". I swear, while reading that novel, it seemed like I was reading the script of one of the episodes. I could almost hear Olyphant's voice. Talk about staying true to what the book's author wrote.

The only thing more amusing that Raylan's charm, and borderline carelessness, is how many laws he breaks on a regular basis, and wonders why his boss can't stand him.

He tells him if he really wants to know how criminals think he should read it. It's "The Friends of Eddie Coyle" by George V. Higgins. As a long time Boston resident, I thought that was a nice touch.
Oh, it gets better. That is the book that the creator of Raylan Givens read that convinced him to stop writing westerns and write the first Raylan story.

IIRC The Friends of Eddie Coyle is also referenced in the final episode of season 4 when Nicky Augustine's gun thugs hold Winona hostage to try to force Raylan to help them kill Drew Thompson.
A favourite part of the last season is when Raylan gets arrested and is on the way to the station in the car and hears something to do with the manhunt going on at the time on the radio but when he tries to tell the officer involved the officer tells him to shut up and then threatens to put him in the trunk and Raylan just kinda goes quiet like he's realising this is karma for all the crazy shit he said/did with/to fugitives over the years.
I once drove through the Appalachians with a college buddy from Colorado. When he heard me call them mountains, he laughed so hard he almost passed out.
He is a phenomenal actor and is the same age as my daddy was born in 1942. My dad passed away at the end of 2019 before the pandemic and my mom passed the end of last September. Sucks, I know.
But he's playing a guy like himself who would be trying to be "one of the guys" around guys like that, an example where you see bad acting in real life, so his bad acting is kind of "lampshaded" into the character.
A brisk 1 min speed walk. The worst of all the tortures. I remember hearing it back when I use to burn people in those giant brass bulls. Sure, they screamed but most of the time they would say, "at least they're not making us do a brisk 1min walk".

I’ve watched Tim in ‘Hitman’ . That’s what got me hooked. He has a way of selling it, that looks so authentic. Hats off to the entire cast.
