- Freddy Adu made headlines when he became the youngest athlete to ever sign a professional contract in the U.S., signing with D.C. United of MLS at age 14 in late 2003.
After he turned 15, Adu and his team later came to Rochester for a June 23, 2004 exhibition game against the Rhinos at Frontier Field, where more than 14,000 fans saw Adu score a goal in D.C.'s 2-0 victory.
