Video showing the evolution of the all-time points table for the Eurovision Song Contest. In this video, only the finals are included.
During the years, the voting system has changed multiple times. Most notably, in 2016 the amount of points was essentially doubled. Therefore, the final result is mostly dominated by the results of the last year.

@@Franzhelmut Italian music is indeed beautiful, but if you are asking me, there's a possitive prejudice in favour of Italy every year (they are always placed top 3 or top 5 by Juries with extreme margins). I think this will fade out the next decade... As it will happen with Ukraine and Sweden.

​@@iryna209 It's not all about the war, long before relationships between post-soviet countries got worse they had a tendency to vote for each other, Ukraine included
Same about Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, etc.

It will be interesting to look at a similar rating including the number of participations in Eurovision. Because it is unfair to compare the scores of, for example, the UK, which has participated 50+ times, and Australia, which has joined only recently.

honestly i expected germany to be lower considering our performance the last 10 years was rockbottom most of the times.

I think, there are two main reasons:
- Germany participating for a long time, and especially in the early years it collected good points
- Germany is always qualified for the final, so it usually always collects some point (although not many in the last few years^^)

Eurovision was named after the original broadcaster, not because it was just for Europe. Any country within the European Broadcasting Area are able to compete if they want to. The EBA borders covers all of Europe, plus the northern African coast (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt) and parts of the middle-east (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.)
