Because Switzerland only came in 5th place in televote while being 1st in jury's ranking. Then, it would be up to the number of points that the 4 remaining countries get and if one of them eventually take 1st place.
Yeah but if you are good with maths then you can already tell that no country would be able to pass them by the time it’s the last two countries being announced
This system is kind of unfair for the second and third places because they basically never get the opportunity to be at the top and hope for a victory. Last year it was so exciting to see Käärijä getting 376 points and this year as well I was so happy when Baby Lasagna received his points but with these systems we wouldn't have enjoyed these moments at all because the winners would have already been standing at the top with a colossal number of points and we would have been stressed out whether the televote winner could have surpassed that
Interesting. For me this system gives more attention to the top televote acts. Since we know that they were very sucessfull when there are only 10 or 5 countries left. I think for example for Silvester from Lithuania it would have felt more exiting for him to see that he got in top ten of televote instead of just hearing a two digit number while still many countries to come
@@esc_gabThis! With the current system the jury heavy countries get all the spotlight. They get it during the presentation of the juryvotes, and they get it during the presentation of the televotes, while the countries with low jury scores but high televotes don‘t get the spotlight they deserve. @@radeq1710 Yes exactly. You said tele is better than the jury, but the televote had Israel 2nd, and thanks to the jury they did not win, because they ranked them 12th
Looking back, I think the new system, announcing the score according the final of Jury vote, make it a bit more tense' so I am good with the current system. Mind you, you calculate at every point how many points are "left" because the total points, according the current system from the televote are : (number of participate countries+1)*58. Where 58 is the sum of all number between 1 to 8 , plus 10 , plus12.

Petra Mede: 20 points to Luxembourg. 28 points to Latvia. 31 points to Finland. 32 points to Serbia. 33 points to Estonia. 44 points to Cyprus. 49 points to Sweden.

Wait... so we have: 1956 - 2008 only jury voting; 2009 - 2015 old voting system where juryvote and televote are merged; 2016 - 2018 old/modern voting system where countries who received the least televote would be announced first during televote; 2019 - NOW modern voting system where where countries who received the least juryvote vould be announced first during televote I didn't know abt the 2016 - 2018 era tho.
2009-2012 jury and televotes and combined together to get a single result for a country 2013-2015 jury and televotes are averaged together to get a single result for a country (I honestly still don’t get it that much)
This is wrong. In 2016-2018 we didn't have the votes of the rest of the world. So, Italy would have 267 instead of 268, France and Ukraine would have the same amount of points 443 instead of 445 and 453, but still the same positions. Greece would have 123 points, Luxembourg 99, Armenia 178, Switzerland 585, Ireland 271, Croatia 539 and Israel 363. All countries would stay in the same positions but with less amount of points.
I do not include the rest of the world and people complain. I include the rest of the world and people complain. Moral of the story: Nothing's ever right for people.
True, there was no Rest of the World vote before 2023. However, if they'd decided to announce the 2024 public vote results from the lowest placed public score to the highest placed public score, they'd have still had the Rest of the World vote this year, so the finalist public vote totals would have been exactly the same as were announced on the night; just a different order.
nah the song was incredibly mid im sorry. nothing bad to say about it but it doesnt stand out in any way. the only reason the public vote was so high is because of the completely insane marketing campaign it had, including but not limited to nyc billboards and embassies calling up their citizens to vote, as well as it being promoted as an epic way to own the libs among the general public
The song is literally the most boring shit for 2 minutes and at the last minute Eden tries to catch our attention by showing off her voice... ofc she's got a good voice but if the song is bad then I'm sorry but u can't expect anything better. Glad the juries didn't just see the voice quality and rated the actual song. It isn't even bad it's just plain boring
