Your doing a fantastic job Tia and I have to recognize your dad for being a wonderful father in your life and helping you on this adventure to revive this old house.
This is a great series! Love that you are honoring and maintaining the character of the home while modernizing it. And great to see you working with your Dad, he's a trooper.
Tia, Save and wear the old overalls. The holes prove your not a rookie anymore. If too drafty, sew on patches. Then the only thing that will make them look better is paint splatters 😃 Keep up the good work.
yes, she can make patches out of some old 100% cotton denim, or use the butt pockets to make patches! it might have been better to make a mat cushion out of some old jeans to sit on while working the roof, but too late now
I have some thoughts on a remark you made in a prior video about keeping the old plaster. Having remodeled a few houses in my day, I can say this from experience. Now is the only time you have to open up walls. If opening up walls is what you need to do to make sure you have adequate insulation and proper electric, don’t hesitate to take those walls down. You can put back blue board that gets plastered over and no one will be the wiser. When you take down the molding, label each piece so you can put it back in its proper location. Then, strip the molding of its 40 layers of lead based paint and you will be surprised at the details that pop in those old moldings. It could be a blessing in disguise.
I don't think that is the original interior walls. They would have been lath and plaster in 1924, but these are some sort of drywall, which really didn't come on the scene until the late 50's/early 60's. And there is some knob and tube, but it looks like a lot of that was replaced by more modern wiring. So wanting to save some of the original features isn't really worth it when most of that stuff is not original, it's from restorations in the 60's or 70's.
Sweet of you to save a caterpillar. And the roof looks great! BTW, next time you replace shingles, put tarps on the ground to catch the debris. You can attach them to the fascia to make a "tarp slide" down to the ground. Makes cleanup WAY easier. Without one, you may be picking up roofing nails in your yard for the next 40 years...
Watching a father daughter duo tackling a project is awesome to see! I remember when I was moving houses and fixing up my current one. This is really bringing back memories. You're doing great Tia! Can't wait for the next one.
i save the legs of jeans when i cut'em off into shorts and patch the the butts w/those.. or i grab a bunch of $1 oddball jeans at local goodwill and use them for patches in all the things.
Hi Tia... To be honest, I kinda prefer the worn and well used look of the old coveralls. It gives the impression that you've been hard at work and busy. Nothing a simple patch can't fix.
The pocket doors are a great suggestion. Also you can then use the doors you’ve removed for some really cool reclaimed wood furniture projects within your home itself.
You'd be surprised, I think, in how many have had to say something similar. When I married my husband I knew it was a case of love him, love his car parts. At one point when we lived in a little house similar to this one we had no garage and an engine my husband needed came into our lives and temporarily into our living room. I put a board on top of it, covered it all with a cloth, and called it an end table! A short while later the engine found its way into a car. I kind of missed the table though. It was handy.
@@codyleeser392 When life gives you lemons make lemonade. I know it's a cliche but that's what makes it true! And extra counter space is not to be sneezed at.
Tia I love your series since I purchased a condo in a 90 year house which had not been touched in years. The condo downstairs was completely renovated but the owner ran out of money and mine had all the original features. The first year I nearly froze because there was no insulation in the walls but I had a dad like yours growing up . He taught me a lot because he was a contractor. I lived in the house for 14 years and I am finally coming to the end of my renovations and I wish you the best and never give up on the vision you have for your home because in the end it will be so worth it!😊
You're so fortunate to be able to have your dad help you with this project. I was only 16 when my dad died, so I appreciate how lucky. you are to have him. God bless you both
I have become invested in watching your progress of renovating your home. Your video titled "I bought a house for $1" landed in my recommended and it piqued my curiosity, then I started from "I'm moving" and caught up til today. You are so blessed to have your Dad helping you! Can't wait to see the finished results. 😁 By the way, your voice is so soothing and that makes your videos more interesting to watch. Thanks for bringing us along on this journey.
I’m so impressed by your skill set, work ethic, and sheer determination to get the job done! Wow. Have you done work on a house like this before or is this a new experience for you? I’m just very impressed with your skills and capabilities and how easy you make it seem! Like a total pro! Thank you for sharing with us.
Tia, Mad respect to you! You are a hard working young lady and I'm enjoying your journey. Enjoy the time spent with your father - those are memories both of you will cherish in future as I'm sure you are cherishing in the moment!! 💕 Oh, and thanks for saving the worm 🐛- shows what a sweet person you are!!!
Tia, you've come a long way already! You're an inspiration to so many other young people. I wish more people would do what you're doing-restoring these older homes and making them their own. It's such a breath of fresh air to see all of this happening. And your dad, he's fantastic-helping you when he can and doing such a wonderful job. I can see where you got your work ethic, for sure. I'm loving this $1.00 house series! Have you considered giving your house an actual name? I think it would be cool to name it; maybe ask viewers to throw out some suggestions. You're such a breath of fresh air - love your drive, determination and focus to get this house under control and make it yours. It's cool you're saving a piece of wallpaper to frame and showing respect to the house, good energy. It's nice your dad is able to help and you guys got the roof done, crossed off the list. Nicely done!
Glad to see you wearing the proper PPE. So many old homes have arsenic, asbestos or pesticides on that insulation. Also, I agree with the commenter about gutting all the old plaster boards. I see the studs in your walls don't have fire stops. You can bring all that up to code, insulate the walls properly, and pull out old electrical and plumbing that needs replaced. Get those fire stops installed! They can save your house. 😊❤ Thank you for caring about the smallest creatures, too! The roof is fantastic!!
I love your voice! It is so melodious, calm, and soothing. It tells a lot about your personality and hardworking determination. I look forward to your progress on your home. God bless you!
I would love to see a deck out back where you can watch your sunsets! Coming along beautifully! You are doing so amazing and moving right in the middle of this!! You are savage! ❣
I enjoy watching you and your dad rebuild this old house. Also I love it that I don't have to turn the volume up and down because the music isn't blaring. Your choice of music is very calming and easy to listen too. I'm excited to see your progress.
If I lived close to you, I would of gladly patched your bibs. I do that a lot with my husband, as barbed wire wrecks havoc on jeans and clothes. I even have good patching fabric, same color and etc as your bibs. Farmers don't care how many patches are on clothes, as long as they cover up the holes. Keep up the good work, I am anxiously awaiting your big reveal of your ready to move in home!
Tia, you are an impressive young lady. Congratulations on your purchase of the house, and the significant renovations that you are undertaking. It’s going to look great! From Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦
Brings back some memories watching you tear out the old walls and ceiling. Remember when that was happening in our old home. Those wet/dry vacs are awesome. And they come in handy throughout tear out and with future cleanups too. Looks like it's going smooth for you with tear out so far. Wishing you the very best ahead. Love from Ky Sub. on the Bourbon Trail. Indeed, a very lovely sunset. Great place to bring out some rockers on a pretty porch in future.
You are brilliant Tia. Such get up and go and just not afraid to get your hands dirty. The amount of money you have saved doing all this is just amazing. I bet your dad is super proud of you. Really enjoying this series! Hello from the UK!
Its looking good. Hard work pays off in more ways than one. Keep the old overalls, they are still handy for lots of things, just patch them up. I've got a set of jeans with a tear in the back from doing some fencing work, they are fine when working in the garden on mucky jobs or when I need to paint something. Kudos to your dad for helping out and showing you the way.
I totally enjoyed this video and watching you and your Dad work so hard together. You make me want to tear out all the dry wall in my house! You don't need to wait for the house to be all complete to put those sunset watching chairs out.

I also like how you are modernizing the house and keeping the humble look of the house. You and Dad are doing an awesome job. if you can afford it use closed-cell spray foam, when you insulate the walls.
You GO girl! cleaning up shingles and removing old wallboard with cellulose insulation sucks the big one! Been there, done that. Dirty crappy work 4 sure. Great that your dad is helping.
The sky behind you while doing the roof was amazing! I miss my dad so much. He’d have done this with me back in the day. I cannot tell you how much I’m loving the dad/daughter vibes! ❤️
You are such a good worker. What a wonderful opportunity for you. Even when I was young and fit, I don't think I'd be able to do everything your doing. Well done young lady. Best wishes from Australia
Hi Tia , I appreciate your hard work remodeling your house . Also your Dad is a real hero for being there for you ! May God bless you abundantly . You're amazing , and a real inspiration for others 😊 .
Tia I just love the progress you are making. You are a real work horse so admirable! When you get a chance can you swing a 360 view of your whole yard. How much land is your charming $1 house sitting on? Can't wait until next weeks progress video. One more thing, since you will have to haul a lot of debris away get a heavy tarp for your trailer so when you unload the last of each load can easily be slid out and leave your trailer pretty cleaned out for your next trip. Take care
This is so motivating to watch, you’re such a bright ray of sunshine. I’ve always been intimidated by this type of work as a woman and it’s so refreshing and inspiring to see you being so confident and hands on with everything that needs to be done. Keep up the good work, you rock! 😉🥹
Be thankful your dad is able to help. My stepdad has been a huge help in my life, but he's sadly lost his vision due to diabetes and can no longer help us do our home improvement projects. I'm loving your series and watching the progress you're making.
Tia, you make such progress in what you set your mind to do. Your dad is being that priceless worker with you. Are you going to frame a piece of the wall paper? See you next week.
I've been watching this channel since you started the $1 house project and there sure hasn't been any shortage of work to be done. Sure do admire your drive and each week we're seeing progress. The roof looks great by the way. Just remember this is a marathon and not a sprint, you're running a great race so far pat yourself on the back and be proud of where you are
It's incredible the amount of "stuff" we humans can accumulate over a lifetime per the previous owner...wow! Tia! You are truly an inspiration! So industrious & organized! You got so much accomplished all while also moving out of your other house! I really enjoy how well done your videos are. That's an enormous amount of work you manage to fit into a video less than 15 mins. long! Looking forward to next week's upload.

It's lovely to see you keeping so much of the house itself! (It helps it's in amazing shape) But are you going to keep all that lovely chunky baseboard and trim ? I love older houses, they were made with much more intention 💕

Thank you for showing young girls and women what is possible. Don’t limited yourself because of what others expect, go forward and succeed.
In today’s society this isn’t a problem. Fortunately, there are plenty of positive female influencers remodeling and building things.
I love those overalls! Maybe you could rock some patches. I grew up in the 70’s, they were all the rage. 😎💕
i just said that. she's gonna get more holes and rips.
Great idea, I love patches,, they’d look great also,,

I said the same as well without seeing any of this.😄
I patch all my clothes, and often embroider the patches. The mended area is stronger than the unmended parts.

I had the same thought regarding the ceiling removal. Cleaning up all the insulation falling down would’ve been loads easier with a tarp on the floor
Roofing nails tend to migrate-onto the driveway, the road, under your car, nailing your tires (oops, pun!!). That tarp sounds like a good idea.
A tarp is a great idea…

Take care blessings to you and your family! 😊❤
Great work so far on the house! That sunset was beautiful, too. You'll enjoy watching those soon.
I love that you saved some of that wallpaper to frame. It looked so cool!
Love your videos Tia they're really the highlight of every Sunday. Something so calming and homely about this project and your style. I admire your independence, motivation and "get it done" spirit and how you're not afraid to tackle any task, I can tell your parents raised you so well ☺
Just realised "homely" has a different meaning in American, I intended the British definition "(of a place or surroundings) simple but cosy and comfortable, as in one's own home."
@@rfitzgerald2004 Actually the way you spell it mean the same in American culture. The other kind of Homie is spelled like I just did and means one's buddy
I am looking forward to your update every weekend. Cannot wait to see how vibrant and beautiful the house will be.
I am just loving this series - oh and that basement is banger! I hope you do something with it....its huge and looks relatively dry too! this is fun to watch. ♥
You are motivated! You get so much done in every video. Can’t wait to see what your plans are!
Hi Tia , I appreciate your hard work remodeling your house . Also your Dad is a real hero for being there for you ! May God bless you abundantly . You're amazing , and a real inspiration for others 😊 .
Roof looks good, you and your dad did a supper good job on it. You both made it look easy. Peace!
You are inspirational. I am 18 years in on my “starter” home and it is a constant work in progress. I am enjoying watching the transformation!
This lil house is so cute and Tia you're such a hardworker. Shout out to pops aswell obviously ❤
Be thankful your dad is able to help. My stepdad has been a huge help in my life, but he's sadly lost his vision due to diabetes and can no longer help us do our home improvement projects. I'm loving your series and watching the progress you're making.
Great job, Tia! 👍🏾👏🏾✌🏾 I'm fully invested in seeing this renovation to the end! 😁
Me too!👍🏾👍🏾
Tia, you make such progress in what you set your mind to do. Your dad is being that priceless worker with you. Are you going to frame a piece of the wall paper? See you next week.
I'm on this Journey with you and I loving every bit of it Thanks for taking us along
Congratulations, wonderful progress on the $1 house. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy.
You are Amazing …love seeing you and your dad work together …👏🇦🇺🦋💜
You are beyond lucky to have all of these moments and memories to cherish with your dad. I miss mine so much. Take lots of pictures and PRINT THEM!
Looking great. You and your father do awesome work. Stay blessed!!!
You're absolutely smashing it Tia, so happy for you 🥰🥰
Wonderful working with your family makes it go faster and you’re doing an amazing job! I was hoping you would open some walls up. It looks great
I've been watching this channel since you started the $1 house project and there sure hasn't been any shortage of work to be done.
Tearing overalls is part of the job 😮😊😂
Won’t be the last pair that gets ripped
You and your father are doing a fantastic thing restoring this house
My father was a carpenter by trade
I miss him so much
Working together with your dad reminds me of the time I spent with my dad
In a good way
Minutes turn into memories all too soon
So enjoy your time with your family and friends ❤❤
Love what your doing. Hard work. Well done. IRELAND
So much progress! Also, I really admire the choice you made for a steel roof. Very durable and long lasting. 👍
I think the hole in your overalls gives them character , I still have my army boots I wore down to the ground from running in basic training 😂❤
Such a great experience and learning opportunity for you and your dad! The roof looks great! ❤
It's lovely to see you keeping so much of the house itself! (It helps it's in amazing shape) But are you going to keep all that lovely chunky baseboard and trim ? I love older houses, they were made with much more intention 💕
I am enjoying watching your renovation. The roof looks great. All your hard work will pay off. You will have a beautiful home. I said home not house. What a gorgeous sunset! You have a great place to relax. And you have a great dad!
I'm sure you will be there one day, You and your Dad work so hard you deserve it.
