@tomdepain Professionally speaking, that is what is most common. But it totally depends on the type of work you are doing and how long you've been doing it. I know what I can do in a day, and I generally understand how many days it will take me to complete a project. Since this is something you usually agree on at the beginning, it's easier to say it will take 4 days to complete than trying to guess how many hours. I also feel like its just better for the client knowing "It'll be here in this many days, and I am paying this much for each day" so if you have to do revisions they know it'll be a full day so get it all out now instead of nickel and diming hours.
I noticed the audio strategy the first time I was editing a project. One small problem is that there is some points where you may get silent because you are locking in, but usually if the content is good then you will talk about it afterwards so you should still be able to find this kind of stuff pretty easily. To make this strat even easier you can make mic audio louder that game audio.

Actually impressive that you handle editing on your own, I know it’s easy but it’s time consuming. You can tell that you really care about your content and it’s refreshing to see. Charlie the 🐐
For the amount of the time he makes content this is actually a masterpiece, its like looking on that bell graph, where the least knowledge one only knows "cut and pan crop" and while everyone on the top of the graph are trying to maximize effects/retention theres charlie in the 0.1% that only does cut and pan crop
i actually love this, i love this purely because this is actually full-mask off, behind the scenes stuff, and i really like that. good on charlie for actually editing most of his vids.

The optimal combo is Vegas for fast editing and After Effects for complex compositions- roto brush use. No need to use Premier since Vegas is faster with keyframe controls at the pan/crop/mask level. Charlie doesn't do complex editing so he doesn't know that Vegas is advanced enough to at least have beat detection- to automatically create markers for the audio peaks. Because all he does is trim, he could cut in the trimmer window and move faster. He cuts on the timeline instead of the trimmer which is bad for footage over 10 minutes. If he uses the trimmer, it'd be faster to keep clips because of beat detection.
HAVING MULTIPLE VIDEOS IN THE SAME TIMELINE IS THE MOST INSANE THING I'VE EVER SEEN.....what.the.actual.... this dude is one of the biggest most successful youtubers, and he refuses to conform to aspect ratios or play up to anything resembling 'modern' editing. but got popular in 2018
@@JeskidoYT That doesn't make it new.
regular quality videos, monotone delivery, no music in background ever, and now ancient editing software. God he is so on brand.
"WTF do DJ's actually do?"
Charles: 0:49
Thanks you, Charles
Actually impressive that you handle editing on your own, I know it’s easy but it’s time consuming. You can tell that you really care about your content and it’s refreshing to see. Charlie the 🐐
This helped me quit drinking and smoking. Thank you Charlie.
This is the best help of all time.
For the amount of the time he makes content this is actually a masterpiece, its like looking on that bell graph, where the least knowledge one only knows "cut and pan crop" and while everyone on the top of the graph are trying to maximize effects/retention theres charlie in the 0.1% that only does cut and pan crop
Thank you very much for the video editing assistance!
MY VIDEOS ARE BETTER +
MY SERVER THAN THIS VIDEO (IN ABOUT ME)
🎉🎉🎉
i feel unsafe with your comment sir
nobody cares lol
بسسسسه بسه بسه بسه
As a voice actor, I can firmly attest to the value of the VO waveform. Its an invaluable tool.
Charlie editing a video when he talking about editing a video while editing a video must be a headache for him
"Moisturizer" has yet again made people moist with this amazing advice. Outstanding.
So the "schlatt" meme is coming over to charlie now?
i actually love this, i love this purely because this is actually full-mask off, behind the scenes stuff, and i really like that. good on charlie for actually editing most of his vids.
0:48 thats awesome!, its like when you cant stop sneezing
I’m one of the 5 people who agrees Sony Vegas is still amazing
Make a series like this. He's so happy. It's adorable. We love to see the king happy.
Love how enthusiastic you are explaining it for us
Actually does help, got a new laptop for that reason but can't bear dropping more on Adobe. My other open source solution is just exhaustingly slow.
Thanks dude. Good Christmas present.
Please use either DaVinci Resolve or Blender, both are free and very powerful.
this was a banger start to finish

Lil bro hasn't even wathced the video what are you on about
The optimal combo is Vegas for fast editing
and After Effects for complex compositions- roto brush use.
No need to use Premier since Vegas
is faster with keyframe controls at the pan/crop/mask level.
Charlie doesn't do complex editing
so he doesn't know that Vegas is advanced enough to at least have beat detection-
to automatically create markers for the audio peaks.
Because all he does is trim, he could cut in the trimmer window and move faster.
He cuts on the timeline instead of the trimmer which is bad for footage over 10 minutes.
If he uses the trimmer, it'd be faster to keep clips because of beat detection.
Hmmmm... the power of the vegas wisedom.
it’s crazy course gurus would literally sell this information for hundreds of dollars and aren’t even 1/1000 size of moistcritical lol
actually true LOL
0:03 no i still do
HAVING MULTIPLE VIDEOS IN THE SAME TIMELINE IS THE MOST INSANE THING I'VE EVER SEEN.....what.the.actual.... this dude is one of the biggest most successful youtubers, and he refuses to conform to aspect ratios or play up to anything resembling 'modern' editing. It's honestly inspiring as hell! Content is king.
Bro just be posting anything at this point 😭🙏
4:24 fish brain moment
There's so many brain dead people like these on the internet that it baffles me, like how much do you have to suck at communicating to misinterpret it like that lol
0:49 straight up Darius vibes, gonna play the part all day
this video really helped, thanks sir charles the great!

Nah it didn’t help me. 6:45 was a little confusing
Bro is singlehandedly keeping Magix alive by being one of their only paying customers.
Thank you Big Moist, always happy to see this
0:48 someone should make this as a sample and make a song lol
maybe
The fact that he keeps a bunch of files saved just under "Documents" is peek Charlie.
The absolute moistest of organization
Sony vegas is superior. Thank you for validating my existence.
Davinci Resolve is not only free but literally was used to edit Marvel movies. (I think they have a paid version with some special stuff but still).
Okay Mr skibidi toilet
Davinci takes a bit to learn, but it's worth it imo
@@FalloutUrMum To reach the level of editing required for a youtube video, you could learn it in a day. It has a ton of depth to it obviously, but learning to cut, add tracks, zoom/adjust frames, etc. Is no more difficult than any other editing software. The main reason someone like charlie wont swap is because he just wants to stick with what he knows. And that's entirely fine! Especially for his case, that software does what he needs.
@@esmith2k2 Yeah, I've used it a couple times for school projects. It's surprisingly easy to use considering how powerful it is!
Fellow Vegas user here! Thanks for putting this out, its always cool to see what goes on behind the scenes
As a youtuber who hasnt uploaded because I havent found a software I like. This did help me , thank you so much Moist❤
11:40 But you lose your soul
Used all the extra saved time to make this video, luckily it pays for iteself
0:49 😂lol I was bawling my eyes out before this video and this made me laugh
Thanks for being you
1:52 i was wondering how he edits and uploads stuff so quick sometimes. Especially since he has said he edits them himself. Like the Indiana Jones one, i swear he streames that and then uploaded a video on it like 2 hours later. I feel like he could just get an editor for this tho. Not like he hurting in the cash department
Yeah, but just because he could have someone else edit doesn’t mean he has to have someone else do it. If it’s an unnecessary expense then he’s not obligated to.
As an aspiring UA-cam content creator and ENTRY LEVEL editor, some of your tricks are going to help me a lot but also...that thumbnail trick was a GAG dude, no way. I hate making thumbnails and you get 1m+ off just screen grabbing and unchecking aspect ratio button LOL
i honestly really like how simple his videos are. all the super edits and cuts in gen z videos are so overstimulating they give me actual migraines
it edited it it edited it it edited it it edited it it edited it it edited it it edited it
Nah I edit on WinRaR 🗿
I like how Charlie summoned us all here with the thumbnail, starring directly into our souls
1:40 I do the same on resolve
This will literally help someone

It was fun watching you go over all your tricks on stream last night
Love watching Charlie put his thumbnail through the discombobulater
For us older gentleman we use to edit in Sony Vegas back in the day and Magix Movie Maker and of course Cool Edit Pro. Those were fun days. Thank you for reminding me of it and cool to see you out of all people is using Sony Vegas still. Kudos!!
Charlie: "Hopefully this will help someone"
Me *needing a hug* : Opening arms for hug
Charlie: "Here's how to save time editing vids"
HELL YEAH I've been using Sony Vegas since the dawn of time
still my favorite editing software
he didn't mention it but the only donwside I experienced using Vegas is when you want to add gif in the video
It'll lag the entire preview
also it can't render webp image pretty well, so I usually have to convert it to png first
