I'm from egba but was Born in Lagos. I found myself in abeokuta in Jan 2nd 2001 where I worked with chief alogi as driver, cook sales manager etc. Who's one of his houses is beside dipo's house at iporo ake. Shortly after that Jan 1st, i bought dipo's life casette tapes which I play always in the car while driving my boss. Unknown to me that my boss actually know dipo. One day, I and my boss chief alogi when to his house at iporo ake to collect rent then he called me and said "this is late dipo sodipo's house, the man you plays his song always" and I was surprised to hear that cos I was In love with him and his song. I didn't know that dipo had just passed way about 4 months before my arrival at abeokuta until 20th Feb 2021. I will always miss him! R I P dipo. i love you!
Uncle Dipo was my late father's younger friend. I met him many times in Abeokuta. When I finished my NYSC in 1998, he tried all means to get me Ogun state govt employment but the plans did not work well. Never to forget him. Eniyan Ire 2 4 7. My father died 3 years ago, Uncle Dipo's photo is still in his bedroom as a LIFETIME HONOUR.
Pope RIP. Ishooom omo Sodipo, I remember coming to your shows weekly in Onikolobo and Wetlands. I remeber your house in Iporo Ake. You were a good person. May the lord continue to keep your wife and kids
This is my big brother singing. K12 voices would practice at my house when I was young. He almost got me to read music at Ibadan Poly but I cringed and changed direction at the last minute. RIP big brother
fortran jide I definitely would know your dad. My brother is Sola Makinde, we had a house then at Odo-Ona, Ibadan and K12 would practice at my house. I still could sing some of the songs. Ask your dad about Sola Makinde or Niyi Kuforiji. Uncle Niyi and my brother, Sola left K12 after they had to go to Italy for further studies.
My twin and I watched K12 voices as children, and even had huge crushes on the ladies in the group. Still shocking the world lost a great man. Respect to you Mr. Dipo Sodipo.
@EgbaAlake, thanks for your upload, every of his life shows were different @PEACE LOVE thanks too, but I lost one of his best live show recorded. He had onidodo oni moi moi, one dr. tio pa owo, dr. tio se huhuhu. etc. In it you could hear people talking, too natural! Like ma sare to, ma ba oro e lo etc. Pope was one of a kind! Sad, he passed away too early but memories remains especially possible due to people like you. TIMELY...Again thanks!!!
