Mariah from 1990 to maybe 2005 NEVER oversings. Her riffs, runs, melisma's etc always have a structural purpose to the song intricately woven into the melodioes. Christina on the other hand, now that is the very definition of over singing and her lack of control makes it even worse. You know it's oversinging when the sound becomes annoying. Whitney and Mariah, no matter how many notes they hit, it's always pleasant to the ears because these 2 legends know how do it it and have full control of their pipes.
