90s kids know who nathan astle was ❤❤
Yup
🤩
Exactly.👍
That epic innings against England.
True bro
very true.
One of my favourite batsman.
90's kids will never forget your batting style and your calmness in ground.
Where are you.We want to see you again
Look at the bowling lineup wasim, waqar, shoaib, azhar, razzaq, afridi, all legends yet Astle made them high school bowler, superb
poor fielding costs them. 3 drop catches and one inside edge. Astle was just lucky on that day
Astle was the most dangerous batsman in the New-Zealand line up in those days,I grew watching those matches and always praying against India that he would get out early
Yes ,me too
His record against India and Pakistan was always great, west indies Zimbabwe and england were his favorite teams toi
I also infact i would try his bat lift style ...😋
Or Craig McMillan?
@@nadeemshah5273 vs pakistan only this innings good and they drop catch also. Other match vs pakistan not good average but vs india good average astle have
If Astle would have been in today's time ,he would have been chased in IPL auctions for million bucks
Agree completely.
Kehne ki baat ha🤣🤣
Not really, looked hopeless before he retired in 2006 champions trophy,
Hau re indian...chup
Mumbai Indians would have 🎉sure
Indian cricket fans in 90s and 2000s were always afraid of few players.. Astle, Flower brothers of zimbabwe.. I think it was very difficult to take wicket of Andy flower😄
Chanderpaul, Kirsten, Anwar, Ijaz, Afridi, Jayasuriya, Aravinda, Flower…and the list goes on
Sanath Jayasurya
Andy🥰
Most stylish batsman of his ERA.
Nah, he was a very good player, but even in the same team Fleming was more stylish. Though Fleming was one of the most stylish batsmen around.
I still remember 222 in 168 balls with 11 sixes and 28 fours .Hoggard the bowler and how he got out . Nobody will ever forget that day. He hit boundaries like he had a flight to catch. Every ball almost went for runs.
Yes it was day of 15 March 2002
Maine bhi wo match dekha tha
Which match can u send me details or link

My All time Favourite Player Astle 👍
He races cars on dirt tracks now!, quite the change from cricket.
Astle is on of my all time favourite batsmen to watch. Always would be glued when he was batting.
One of the most stylish batsmen in Cricket. Love you Astle
Astle dangerous in his time, who agree..👇

Yes I am agre
This was truly Laathi charge.
Adam GilChrist was famous in those days in Pak newspapers for Laathi Charge.
One of my favourite players during my school days. 90's Kid 👍
Few observations:
- Shoaib Akhtar was very quick. Lightning quick. At that pace, any delivery that's half decent could cause batsmen a lot of trouble. Don't know if he chucked, but he sure did give it all
- Nathan Astle's highest score at the time, 120, came against India at Rajkot in 98 balls (?). NZ managed 349 that day. India scored 376 in the next game at Hyderabad with Sachin scoring 186*.
- Can't understand why Astle's strike rate's 72, but then again he struggled to get them away when it wasn't his day. On his day, a double century off 153 deliveries in a Test match wasn't out of reach
Astle ability to see and hit is off the charts. Cutting Shoaib mid air shot. What a player.
Nathan Astle The Best Batsmen Of Newzeeland 90s 2000 😍 MISSING THE DAYS 😥
Astle one of the legend in cricket history❤
For his dropped catch, Afridi is being punished into bowling - Ian Smith 😂😂😂😂 the other commentators were laughing in the background

For his efforts shahid afridi has been punished into bowling 🤣
Afridi a truck to a duck in few seconds!
One of my favorite. Iv not seen anyone plays cut shot better than this man
I have so much respect for this man. He looks so calm and it was a joy watching him play
Like cheteshwar pujara
You got. Watch his fastest 200 in tests... What brutal hitting....
Simple foot work. He guessed the balls very simply.
Thinking about newzealand cricket, my mind goes to Nathan Astle.. Lovable player.❤
Nathan astle is very very underrated cricketer ....who has more than 11k runs and 150 wkts
In my Childhood Nathan Astle was my favourite Batsman.
Golden days of cricket era ❤️❤️❤️❤️
He is one helluva destructor on his day.. 😍 superb.. loved Astle & Fleming opening gamble!
You have to acknowledge Fleming as well in this clip. 100 run opening stand in 18ish overs. They complemented each other brilliantly when one if them was hitting out, the other fed the strike. Nothing quite like knowing the bloke at the other end is just helping you out.
Very underrated batsmen
Choco Boy Looks ! 😊
Arguably the finest cutter in cricket ball 👌🏻👍
Nathan Astle was right up there for me along the likes of M Waugh , H Gibbs , M Trescothick & S Anwar !
Astle was such a treat to watch on his day
Nathan astle One of the fearless batsman he introduced attacking cricket for Kiwis.
World greatest opener Stephen Fleming and Nathan astle
Good old days... He used to be one of my fav batsman
Amazing cut shots by a great kiwi batsman.
Mark Waugh.. Nathan Astle...Lara...destructive players
I am lucky as I have seen 90's era cricket. Real cricket where real competition is there with ball and bat. Where every team we can see the match winner. Even in Zimbabwe there are Health streak Campbell Andy and Grant flower were present.
Nathan was a great entertainer great knock super batting against the best of that time Akram waqar n Shoaib with saqlain was a deadly bowling attack miss those days
what an Innings. Full of Hard Strokes.. Love from Pakistan
*Sehwag , Gilchrist , Jayasuriya & Astle 🔥 four most aggressive opening batsman ever* 🔥
Observations about Astle, as I watched a lot of NZ growing up in 2000s. 1. Best square drive. Even of good length balls. He had that trademark jump as welo to stay on top of the bounce. It's why he played McGrath best of all, even better than Tendulkar and Lara and Anwar! 2. Very inconsistent. A fab 100 followed by single digit scores. Check world cup 1996. 3. Underrated bowler. Took a 5 wkt bag against Pakistan once in Mohali, along with 100. Highest 100s for NZ until Taylor overtook.
Struggled alot against aussie n south african bowlers, cldnt handle d bounce mostly, Asian countries were his favourite scoring heavily on any venue!
@@ajinkyamane7004 yes inconsistent but not weak against bounce: career average 37, he averaged 38 overall v Aus and 43 in Aus, yes weak against SA but two centuries in his first series in the WI facing Ambrose, Walsh and Bishop.
Took 4 wickets vs pak in Mohali during independence cup 97 along with hundred
Fastest double century...against England
(To be broken later by Gilly against SA). I think it was 2001
@@sushantlohani8091 no it hasn't broken yet. Gilly broke Ian Botham record not astle's.
*Everyone in 90's was fan of Nathan Astle and Adam Gilchrist*
One of the best Attacker...
Sir Nathan Astle...
Number 9 Favourite
Guys..., just watch his 222 out of 150+ balls Vs England test match, chasing 550...., NewZealand finally lost by 90 odd runs....in that chase. Absolutely a treat innings to cricket lovers. It's not wrong to say this player was underrated.....
Absolutely.... gunshots were fired that day !!!
His batting style was so pleasing to watch.
At the start, Astle and at the end of an innings, Maccmilan was dangerous in NZ team
Watched it live and was over joyed when Shoaib akhtar dropped him early, theek se yad nahin but I always pretended to be unwell and had an off from the school, this happened atleast 10 times every new year when teams toured Australia and Newzealand😂, greatest days of cricket and our lives late 90s early 2k
Pak is big zero in front of New Zealand😂
@@Dhuriyodhanan that's why Pakistan also dominate against new Zealand

Anyone watching in 2020.,?
Actually in 2021 ❤️
Watching in 2022 and rejoicing. Have always been a huge Nathan Astle fan.
Sheer carnage by New Zealand batsman against fearsome Pakistani bowlers.
Astle hitting wasim akram, waqar, shoib like club bowlers. Amazing
Good player but availed 4 chances
I was at the this game back in my uni days. I was also at the ODI the next year in 2002, Astle also got a 100 in that match against England to win the 5 match series 3-2. Good old days.
Astle seemed to save his best for Carisbrook.
@@jrwntctv8091 Except his bonkers 222 in Christchurch in a test match.

Elagant stroke maker and dashing opener like shewag and sanath..new Zealand was luck to recive his service🔥💯❤️
His n damin martin batting style i like the most...suchba clean hitters❤️
Day was truly belongs to Nathan. Several adges and some catches dropped
I love jason roy because he reminds me of my childhood favourite nathan astle
I love Nathan Astle Batting Style.❤
Although being a 90s kid, I wish I was born at least 2 or 3 years earlier to witness more of Astle's aggresive batting intent. He has a good record against India as well. If I am not wrong, Pakistan fought hard at the end , but lost eventually.
Also loved roger twose who played along that period ❤❤
J
Stephen fleming as well
twoes batting stance and beard were different for those days
Such a clean hitter of the ball!
Nathan Astle the unsung hero of New Zealand 😆
Astle could have scored 3000 runs plus if he would have played in subcontinent. Hit Like if u Agree.
One of the best batsman at that time
Who remember his 222 off 168 balls against England
ACTUALLY SHOAIB MAKE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE
Think Shoaib akthar playing for teams like Australia or south Africa he could bag more than 600 wickets at Odis...
Such bad fielding efforts by the Asian teams that time
Right
True..imagine if akhtar and Brett Lee would hve been in the same attack..my god .
Guldu Asia antha yaake helthiya goobe
Lol. Do you understand 600 wickets?
He had been out of the team for bad fieldings
What a fentastic and lengedery man astle love from India❤❤❤❤
9:56 security guards maintaining social distance by standing inside the ground😁
he was someone from kiwi side whom i can't forget ever, legendary opener💗🇧🇩
I AM UR BIGGEST FAN NATHAN ASTLE WHATTTT A PLAYER LOVE FROM INDIA
Astle was very stylish batsmen...with useful part time bowler.. He use to score quick fire 30's 40's..but ws unable to score big runs.. However this was classic innings with lots of luck
If not big how he's got 16 odi hundreds?
@@waqarch6287 Of the caliber he had, he should be having around 30 hundreds in odi, but he used to play as pacer of the innings with fine strokeplay.
Part of that is because for much of his career the wickets were quite green in NZ. Stephen Flemings test batting record in NZ was only higher than in Australia, he scored higher in every other country. Naturally players normally score higher at home, so it indicates that it could be pretty difficult. Albeit I think they were less green in ODIs.
They're not green at all now, it's the same as overseas, I think this is part of the reason NZ players averages have raised and why they're now more accustomed to overseas conditions.
Nathan Astle was one of the fearless New Zealand batter. But now no one can bat like him. He was powerful, right-hand batter. No one can copy his batting style. He is also my favourite NZ cricketer. Astle didn't care about fast bowling he just hitted the ball. I heard the sound of the bat. That sound was like loud gunshot. Astle was really great Kiwi batter. And Pakistan fielding was very worst. 😂
Nathan Astle, Saeed Anwar and Herschelle Gibbs were my non Indian favorite batsman in 1990's and early 2000's
During his playing days Astle always castle out opposition players with his masterclass batting. A complete batsman with good technique.temparement, style and dangerous of his era
19 years ago omg time flies
Haan teri umar ab 70 hogai ha
Remember reading the scoreline and wondering how the fuck can any team other than Australia be able to beat Pak with that star bowling line up chasing more than 280... Answer simple: Endless dropped chances, luck luck and lucky...
Funny thing is that many of those drops are fixed 😅

Love these old highlights BUUUUUUUT when ever it’s a game involving Hanse or Pakistan there is always the nagging thought in the back of the mind “was that dropped by accident or on purpose” 😂😂
At Start of cricket to 2019 a golden era of cricket after 2019 cricket is like a meme 😭
I remember watching this before board exams of 10th.

Nathan Astle was one of thr most attacking batsman of 1990-2006. He in partnership with Stephen Fleming was a very threatening pair.. If he played in the IPL era, he would have earned many crores.Nathan Astle was the Sehwag of NZ..
My best cricketer N Astle
Catches win matches Shoaib Akhtar dropping a dolly catch on the bowling of Waqar Younis
