- Taken off air via videotape in 1994 (Fox Kids Saturday morning lineup), this commercial features McFarlane introducing his line of action figures from Todd Toys. Partially clipped at the beginning.
This is the most 90’s toy commercial I’ve ever seen
Lol yes
Absolutely. Check out my best quality commercial from this.
When I was a kid these commercials made spawn feel pg, so I had my mom buy me spawn hbo tv show... I was in for a rude awakening.
Ha! That’s gold!
That's what happens when parents don't pay attention to age ratings. It was the same thing with video games like Mortal Kombat.
Nearly 30 years later and Todd's still a badass making good figures
Lol "good figures" yeah sure he is
@@sirmustardofhousemayonnais9907 Here comes the Hasbro fanboy.
@@llllshadowllll hasbro makes dc figures??
@@sirmustardofhousemayonnais9907 I could only assume you were a Marvel/Hasbro fanboy since you seem to hate McFarlane DC figures.
@@llllshadowllll thats because you are a moron who doesn't use their brain and conforms to the hive mind think of every other collecting idiot. Until the day hasbro starts making dc figures, they are completely irrelevant to the argument and to anyone who solely cares about getting good quality dc figures for a reasonable price
Yo Todd's acting is actually pretty good
Todd sounds like he rushed through the script.
Todd's a good man
And here, nearly 30 years later, I’m a 15 year old who is obsessed with his figures still
Nice dude
@Canadian Spawn awesome
Same lol
Me too
Good to see a new generation of fans
...and plaster the competition, Todd did. His toys are the reason why we're seeing detailed Marvel Legends and others today. The man's vision revolutionized the entire figure market.
I love how 90s it is
Same here. I'm a 90's kid
Todd is a business genius .
I saw this Commercial ONE TIME on Cable TV. and i remembered the Characters names, and went looking for them BY NAME because of how awesome the commercial was, and how COOL the characters looked! 41 now, and i STILL LOVE SPAWN. i also love THE MAXX, who Mcfarlane Toys ALSO Did an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC JOB ON!
I’d love him to tackle The Maxx again honestly (mega figure all the way). When he cares about the character he knocks them out the park!
"The competition" is Sam and Twitch.
The funny thing about the commercial is that he did absolutely destroy theCompetition to the point that he’s still making figures that are everywhere! It’s awesome to see a guy who wants to make a big impact on comics/toys and now he’s the king of it!
For the $20 price tag his DC Multiverse line blows Hasbro out of the water.
@@llllshadowllll agreed
And Todd is still stuck in the 90s
The irony of seeing this immediately after getting home from buying a MacFarlane The Batman figure works on more levels than I wanna imagine, and only adds to my paranoia of being spied on.
LOL!
Same
The camera on your phone is always watching
@@jinsakai409 it must be.
I want that jacket!
I miss my 90s childhood
Same here. Check out my best quality version. ua-cam.com/video/2_BmJE1jt1Y/v-deo.html
LONG live to Todd and all 90's spawn figures.
Man... this was before the Mattel lawsuit and rebrand to McFarlane Toys.
As a kid growing up and collecting these figures, I was constantly blown away from the amount of detail and sculpting.
Had so many and unfortunately I only managed to save two figures.
But at least the ones I kept were my absolute favorites.
Great 90s commercial
Indeed. Check out mine: ua-cam.com/video/2_BmJE1jt1Y/v-deo.html
I really like the FF7 battle music.
It did sounded like that.
I concur
I didn't know that Commercial Existed until now. What a Excellent looking (1994) Todd McFarlane's Commercial. 😎😎😎👍👍
Yoooo 🔥 🔥 🔥 lyrics great photos too
TODD IS THE BLUEPRINT.
Back when commercials were cool
So good! I’ll take cheesy commercials over high production ones any day of the week. I’m looking at you McDonalds
I got the violator toy back in 1995.
0:20 hey look it's clown lmao
"AND THEY ALSO BREAK EASY TOO, JIM!!"
Not the original toys, only his statue like figures he made later break easy
@@gobotimus8449 series 1 were pretty standard in quality. I still have the first set in excellent shape and I used to fool around with them quite a bit. If anything, the cape peg on Spawn, wasn't the best idea. One drop and the peg could snap.
I think the quality began to dip after the first Angela figure was introduced, where her staff was made out of the weakest and most brittle plastic he could find. By series 6 and up, things really began to go south with the quality of the little plastic pegs that held the limbs together. It was hit or miss ever since.
The Interlink 6 figures were infamous for having the worst ratchet joints, which would shatter to pieces (literally) when trying to pose or transform them to the big robot form. Amazing sculptures hindered by poor quality materials.
DC banned guns from their figures making Mcfarlane figures look bad with examples such as the peacemaker released with a sword and the red hood with hands making the gun gestures, most of the figures look incomplete! so Todd goes out of his way to release all these figures with the hands in the "holding gun position" for no reason and no one knows why... fans are mad but hey... what did Todd do? the absolute madman released the New arsenal weapons pack under spawn AND GUESS WHAT ALL THE GUNS FIT THE DC ONES, TODD WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY
That gun ban hasn't been in effect in almost 2 years but keep coping for daddy todd
They don't make commercials like this anymore
The original “how do you do fellow kids”
"Nice try guys"
Ha awesome, the 90s had magic to them 😎
Absolutely
How cool
Holy 90's Batman.
I know right?
I had the "Medieval Spawn" figure. Interesting way to get kids into the "Spawn" comics, well not the younger ones. :)
I was twelve. I though they said "Shawn" and I am like "yes." And then I thought I herd "the evil Shawn" and then I put down my Superman comics and started getting super into spawn and image comics. I had waves 1 & 2, some of the other Image heroes like Youngbloods, Shadowhawk, Superpatriot and The Maxx which I fell in love with thanks to the MTV cartoon. Playmates Wildc.a.t.s and Savage Dragon based on those shows where awesome. The toys all played well with each other despite the image founding partners not being able too...its a shame Lee and Liefeild went their own ways... A truly united Image could have continued to dominant the market. Alan Moores's run on Supreme is still one of the best comics ever written.
This is one of the reasons I think Invincible did so well and I've loved it so dearly. It gave a generation like me something that was of MY AGE, not my dad's silver age or his father's golden age...yeah, it was a dark age, but it wasn't so grim as we remember. It was still spandex, Saturday morning cartoons and action figures after all...
I think Todd, much like Icarus is as much to blame for the downfall as the rise. He pushed the hard R. I see Savage Dragon doing X rated shit. Its immature as spawns HBO gratuities sex and language... They violate the cool kids toys they made money off of. The violence of Invincible as awesome as it is, never tried to be a kids toy. I guess for a 90s kid, I'm never going to be able to really enjoy Spawn, or Dragon as much as I do Invincible because by that time I met Mark Grayson, I wasn't much older then he was...
Anyway...
Awesome Story
The 90s were so edgy that the comic culture quickly corrected itself
Good times. Back when his action figures were actual action figures and not glorified plastic statues.
The fuck you're talking about? His figures now have more articulation than anything he released back in 90's. Now if you were talking about paint apps I would definitely agree with you.
@@llllshadowllll You can't honestly tell me the McFarlane Conan line of "figures" or even the recent Spawn Rebirth figure have more articulation than the original Spawn figure!
Especially not USEFUL articulation points!
@@B.-T. Are you fucking serious or just trolling for the sake of trolling?
Go look out for any reviews here on UA-cam from the DC Multiverse, Mortal Kombat or even the new Spawn line of figures and tell me again with a straight face that the first Spawn Todd has released back in the day has better articulation than those figures when that first Spawn didn't even have any torso or elbow articulation.
@@llllshadowllll easy killer
Too bad most of his figures have barely any articulation
Hopefully his spawn characters get the same treatment as his current DC Multiverse figs.
nearly all his figures these days favor articulation
MK11 Spawn wants to speak to you.
His dc figures have good articulation
Well considering EVERY single figure hes made, yeah i agree
So edgy hahha
