    Wish I was there to peel away the adhesive. Satisfying like popping a zit.

    Title for next video: Repair of JVC HD Camera Viewfinder!
    Whatever kinda liquid you had that soaking in musta softened the PVA enough for sun and chopsticks to remove it. Glad to see this works. Can't wait to see set working and producing a picture. Maybe you can strap it to the side of the camcorder as a replacement viewfinder. Ha!

    Hooray! you've finally completed this set, finally time for some more good sets

    The camera should be relatively easy to take apart, it could be something simple like a bad connection. Those little LCDs probably use flat flex cable that plugs into small sockets on the main board inside the camera. Just the constant opening and closing of it over the years could have jostled it loose, or it could be torn.

    We should start a fundraiser for getting you a new camera. Maybe one with a slow-motion feature for EOLing some chinesium sets with a hammer...

    Great video, sorry to hear about your camera dying, your last recordings were still done with perfect precision. Maybe the flip screen lead has unattached itself.

    Great Job as usual! I found cleaning glass surfaces with News Papers leaves no evil fibers, which forever bedevils the poor, accursed user.

    You have/ had the same camera as I had (a little older model it looks like) and mine had the same problem... except it was kind of a little bit my fault. But I got a refurbished JVC EVerio EX-515 and it is even better than the old one for not much more money. It retailed for around 300 dollars, but refurbished is a lot less and you sacrifice no quality. Oh and good job on not getting killed by that CRT

    You should try a Solution of Edisionite Classic in Water insted of Vinigarwater! This Edisionite high performance tenside Solution is able to undercreep all this ugly plastic material. It will seperate the Plasic from the Glass without mechanical stress. In our Lab we make very sticky Copoliamide based Homelts in Glasreactors. The only way to get the sticky rest out of this Glasreactors was a bath in to this Solution vor 3-5 Days!
    Maybe you find this Hint helpful!

    So the LCD screen died, that hurts. Does it have a viewfinder above the battery that comes active when you close the LCD screen?

    I wonder if the summer weather and the hotter environment inside the garage helped accelerate the action of the vinegar and water mixture on breaking down the bond between the PVA and the glass? In noticed that the PVA goop was peeling away from both the face of the picture tube and the safety glass at the same time.

    popsickle sticks shango,,they are thinner,you can stack them ( glazers use them to firmly seat cut & feathered glass in the sash)

    Perhaps you could purchase one of those small LCD camera monitors that attach to the camera's shoe mount. The downsides would be the size and the fact that it's another battery to charge.

    A CRT explode? Now let's get it right - they implode, not explode. But then the pieces of shrapnel pass each other going in opposite directions at high velocity so... uh, never mind.

    How does a TV get cataracts?

    • @realgroovy24
      @realgroovy24 9 років тому

      clayton betts The manufacturers used put safety glass over the CRT as a implosion prevention (newer CRT's have it built into the CRT itself rather than stuck on) and they put adhesive on it to make it stick, over a long period of time the adhesive breaks down causing it to be visible what he is doing is trying to remove the safety glass (cataract) and reapply adhesive.

    • @enzoperruccio
      @enzoperruccio 5 років тому

      @@realgroovy24 He doesn't put new PVA material between the tube and the safety glass, he just sticks it applying some silicon around the edge. In reality he's actually leaving an air gap between the two pieces, but hey, its for looks, not safety.
