We always got the lifesaver books too. I loved them all except for the butterscotch ones, which I ended up giving back to Grandma because she loved those 🥰
For Christmas as a child, I got whatever doll my mom could get with stamps from the grocery store. Remember S & H green stamps? My sister was 8 years older than me and she used to get the stamps together and figure out how many to spend for each of us. Toys were few and far between. I carried my jump rope everywhere.
Thank you for sharing the Meagan Woods The Truth song. Wow needed that. Powerful. I sent it to 2 of my adult kids also going thru turbulent times. Again thank you.
Amy, you totally unlocked a core memory talking about the McDonald’s gift certificate book and especially the lifesaver book!! Those were two of my favorite treats my grandma & grandpa used to give us and I absolutely loved them ( along with the m&m filled candy cane).
Our grandparents had 42 grandkids and all of us for birthday and Christmas were sent a $5 McDs booklet. I still remember the disappointment at receiving g a $5 gift card for the 1st time after they discontinued the booklets
Lifesaver books was a usual for stocking stuffers. What an awesome Christmas lights walkthrough. Wow!!! That has to take a very long time to put up and wow their electric bill 💸. That’s awesome the they don’t charge or ask for help. I think sometimes the electric companies will give a discount or not charge for the extra. I have a neighbor who does their yard but not anywhere near this. Wow!!! Thanks for taking us along.
We always got a Nordstroms gift certificate. The next day the men watched all the children and my sister and I with our mom shopped then went to the magic pan restaurant. Great memories
My grandmother would always give us the lifesaver storybook too. Usually it was the winter mint book. Occasionally it would be the multi flavor pack. Lol I instantly thought of that when you started speaking of them on your video. Fun memories
My mum used to always give us girls a box of 3 Savon Soaps which were always round, and luxuriously wrapped in coloured tissue paper that was pleated perfectly with a sticker of the floral smell that soap had, eg Violet, lilac, corona, carnation, rose, lily of the valley, etc. I loved the rose and the carnation .....
Yep Amy dollar tree is a go to !!😁 My brother and I always got candy canes just the regular ones many years ago now they have so many to choose from....what a nice trip you took me on and even to memory lane ...thank you and you are an amazing mom!😁
My brother and I always got a Stocking growing up, every year my mom would put chocolate gold coins in the toe of the stocking. The ones in the yellow netting, like what onions come in. We looked forward to those coins!! I need to shop for my kids snack bins on Saturday. Getting down to the wire!! I hope you have a great day today, see you tomorrow!! ❤😎🙏
Hi Amy, I have a tip for you when it comes to your *Snack Bins* 1) Start off by picking the containers that you think will be good and separate them in your shopping buggy 2) Line the containers up *by age* so Oldest to Youngest (guessing ages and name spellings): Brooklyn, Autumn, Maddy, Stephen and Jenzen 3) Get Brooklyn's socks first, then Autumn's and then Maddy's etc.. so you can toss them into the proper containers as you go 4) After you start putting their specific items into their corresponding containers you'll begin to quickly visualize which container belongs to which kid and you will be able to see IF you need to adjust and/or maybe add more things to certain containers Bubblegum takes up less space than 2 boxes of Slim Jim's so you might want to add something else for the kid with the smaller package of Bubblegum in their container (obviously just an example for you) 5) As you're filling up the containers with various items *at the store* you will be able to quickly see whether or not the containers you initially picked are too big, too small OR just right AND you'll be able to change out the containers right away, eliminating the need to go back to the store to exchange the containers IF you find out at home that they don't work for the items you already bought This idea came to me as you were putting things into your buggy. And, when you leave the store, everything will already be in their proper individual containers that are specific to the kid so you don't have to go home and reorganize or sort everything out per kid. Hope that helps...
We had a local house that decorated like that and you would drive thru their small L shaped driveway. When the owner passed away, his family donated all the decorations to the town and they decorated the town square now for everyone to walk through. It's interesting and funny to imagine it fills the whole town square and how the older gentleman had it all in his tiny yard lol SO FUN He had a lot of the same ones you videoed.
Good morning. We always got tootsie roll banks, toothbrush, and travel size toothpaste & shampoo in our stockings. I remember when we got older and got our own hairbrush. We had a communal one before that. I guess the worse thing about having 2 ovens is having to clean 2 ovens. Thank you so much for Christmas lights. You & Greg looked great as Mr & Mrs Claus. Have a terrific Tuesday and I will see ya tomorrow
Speaking of mountains and Christmas displays, we live below the foothills of our local mountain range. There's a house on the hill that puts up a giant lit-up star every Thanksgiving weekend and you can see it from MILES away. They rent a big crane to do it. We live about 3 miles from it so when the trees aren't in the way, we can see it from home, but always when we're driving home at night. We can ride our bikes on the trails just below their property. I try to remember to send them a Christmas card every year even though I don't know them. (Sometimes I forget.) When we see it go up, we know the Christmas season is upon us and we look forward to it every year, even though my kids are all teenagers now.
We never did stockings when I was a kid. My mom would do boxes. She would put candy and small things we needed or wanted. It's the first thing we opened Christmas morning. I did do stockings for my kids, though.
Thanks for the Christmas lights. I'm by myself and no fun to drive to look at lights alone. I go out to eat by myself, why not go see lights. It's not cold in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but take a tumbler with hot chocolate. Ok, I'm talking myself into it,lol. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🙏🏼 🌲🎁🎅🏻🤶🏻🦌
I love Queen Anne chocolate covered cherries and yes they had to be queen anne,, so i wouk always get a box of them. we would get peanuts, rum candy, Tootsie rolls, some candy, girls woukf get tights or nylons, some hair products, boys works get socks for church and maybe a tie. Always get oranges from Florida, life savers packs. Fun memories ❤
Hey Amy from NC ❤! I love the snack bins idea! My kids would too! Wow the lights are beautiful! You're right, not many here in NC unless we go to a place specifically with lights. Remember Shadrach's Christmas lights?? We went last year 😊
We always got a big solid chocolate santa wrapped in the foil. There were 6 of us so money was tight and we would nah on those chocolates for so long. Mom would cute them in pieces and put them in plastic bags so we had treats for a very long time ❤
I do the same thing. I do put it in a stocking. I LOVE this part. I put their favorite snacks and drinks :-) sometimes a flashlight or small things like that they always lose during the yr lol And YES where do all the clothespins go? Lol
“Easy off” works really well for cleaning the oven. A quick question, what is the best way to pack kitchen items into boxes without getting them broken?
I searched on market place and found someone that just moved ..they had so much packaging supplies they were so happy to get rid of them ..tons of paper and good boxes. Someone somewhere is moving.
Unfortunately, I am now sick!! lol my family got me sick and I am so under the weather!! Yesterday my daughter in law went to dollar tree and spent 125.00
Hello Amy, could you say a prayer for me. I am having cardiac issues and go to the cardiologist tomorrow. I am afraid. p.s. lifesaver books and mittens.
Lord Jesus...praying for my dear friend who is a big encouragement to me here..Lord be with her .calm her and give her peace ..let her feel your presence and we trust you with the results Lord. Amen
I dont know if you ever said how you came to call your pup "Maxine".. every time you talk about her it brings my mom to mind since her name was Maxine!! She would love a pup having her name😊
My grandmother always gave lifesaver storybooks to all us grandkids. I still buy them for me and my brother every year.
That is sooo cute!!!...I loved those books and they were always given out to my children & great-grands🎄❄️🙏
Keep the Faith, Always, Hope

My Nana would save her coffee jars and fill them with that hard candy that stuck together. We loved and looked forward to getting it.

Hi Amy,
I have a tip for you when it comes to your *Snack Bins*
1) Start off by picking the containers that you think will be good and separate them in your shopping buggy
2) Line the containers up *by age* so Oldest to Youngest (guessing ages and name spellings):
Brooklyn, Autumn, Maddy, Stephen and Jenzen
3) Get Brooklyn's socks first, then Autumn's and then Maddy's etc.. so you can toss them into the proper containers as you go
4) After you start putting their specific items into their corresponding containers you'll begin to quickly visualize which container belongs to which kid and you will be able to see IF you need to adjust and/or maybe add more things to certain containers
Bubblegum takes up less space than 2 boxes of Slim Jim's so you might want to add something else for the kid with the smaller package of Bubblegum in their container (obviously just an example for you)
5) As you're filling up the containers with various items *at the store* you will be able to quickly see whether or not the containers you initially picked are too big, too small OR just right AND you'll be able to change out the containers right away, eliminating the need to go back to the store to exchange the containers IF you find out at home that they don't work for the items you already bought

Mom for us kids did stockings a few years but I always after our Christmas church program loved the brown paper sack with fruit and nuts .
Good morning ❤
Ever since they raised it to $1.25, nothing is really a deal anymore. All of the snacks are cheaper at Walmart for $50-$1 more, and you get more!
“Easy off” works really well for cleaning the oven.
