CRAW - Cubic Right Angle Weave

- A stitch that many beaders have struggled with but if you can master it, the opportunities for using it and creating more geometric shapes in your designs are endless.
Used in its basic form CRAW creates an eye catching, structured, bead rope.
As well as demonstrating with beads, I show you a pictorial version too, as we all learn in different ways.

Happy Beading...x
This is by far the best demonstration of how to do CRAW stitch that I have ever watched. Great video.
Wow, thank you Lainey! So pleased you found the demo helpful! x
You are a great teacher. At last I understood craw, you explained it so well. Especially using two colors makes a lot easier to follow your excellent instructions. Thank you and blessings.
Yippeeeeeeeee .... that makes me sooooooo happy to read. Well done on conquering CRAW! x
Thanks Jo . Fabulous tutorial. Clear and simple . Love all your tutorials, always my first choice.
You are so very welcome Terri! That's high praise indeed...thank you! x

Perfect teaching
Love the ropes I’ve always steered away from craw but am going to give it a go. As always clear instructions so I think I stand a good chance of achieving it.😊
You're not alone in keeping CRAW at an arm's length...let me know how you get on! x
me too.... not a fan of craw....with this demo, I will give it a go thanks Jo good luck Kim
What is your software? This is my first time visiting your channel I love it👍❤💜💖
Welcome Dessieree!! I assumer you're talking about the software that I had the diagram on? It's an App called Perl'Art...x
Molto carino,,
Thank you! x
Thanks
This was a bit intimidating at the beginning, but thanks to you, I think I am finally getting this technique.
My question to you is can we use different bead sizes?
Hi Nishrin.... CRAW is the nemesis of many, so you're not alone in feeling little intimidated! I so hope that with a little practise you're getting there! You can do CRAW in any bead size you wish - however; if you plan to go geometric with your CRAW stitch and start zig-zagging or making a square, I would suggest sticking to just one size for the stitch! x
@@JoBarclayLoggie thank you! 😊
This is an excellent tutorial. The diagram at the beginning made the weave pattern come together. I have been intimidated by this stitch. I plan to try it again having seen your video. Thank you so much
You can do it Carol! So chuffed to hear that you found my little diagrams helpful! Good Luck and happy beading! x
You are a wonderful teacher!! I finally got it!! Thanks so much!!
Wonderful to hear that you've cracked CRAW Rita - fabulous news! x
Thank you Jo for explaining this so well.
I’m so pleased that you’ve understood all my ramblings! x
Hi would love to try this lovely stitch. I'm wondering approximately how many fire polish you used in this & in the embellished craw as well. Dont want to start and not have enough;) thank you Jo
Hi Virginia....In this one I used about 160 fire polish beads and in the embellished CRAW I used about 60 of them...Hope that helps! ;-) x
@@JoBarclayLoggie Yes that helps thank you for responding!
Lindisima. Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos😜😘👏👏👏
I think I finally got it. Your diagram in the beginning helped explain a little. I first tried it with 2 colors and then was able to do it with one after I could see where I was going and why. Thanks!
Good idea using the two colours! Well done for cracking the CRAW code! x
Omg i finally got it!!! Thank you SO MUCH for this outstanding demonstration!!! 🌹
Yay....that’s wonderful to hear! So pleased that I’ve helped in some way!!! x
@@JoBarclayLoggie your a fantastic teacher!!! There is another stitch I REALLY want to learn, thats how to do the Cellini spiral (excuse the spelling if incorrect). Do you have a tutorial on this stitch?
Not yet! ;-) It is one on a very long list of tutorials that I have planned! x
@@JoBarclayLoggie yay!!! Thank you Jo!! Cant wait!
Love this stitch. CRAW can be so intimidating for most beginners, you have done such a wonderful job at explaining it. What size firepolish beads are you using with the size 8 seed beads? Thank you for another wonderful tutorial!
Thank you Elena...I’ve used 3mm fire polish with the 8/0’s....x
Perfect tutorial! Actually think I can do it the way you explain!! Loved the next craw with the sparkles, lovely project.x
Yay! Thank you! That's great Virginia...x
This is the best CRAW tutorial available on UA-cam! No doubt! Thank you very much.
WOW! That's so very kind of you to say so - thank you Ingus!
Thanks....I will also give it a try again......You made it look so easy......will let you know how I did. Have a great day.
That’s good news..I ‘m quite sure you’ll be successful!!! xx
I have looked at both craw and praw patterns and I can not tell the difference
It's not that easy to explain either Ann - Craw is beaded cubes and PRAW is beaded prisms, but the prism could have a square base and therefore be a cube too! PRAW doesn't necessarily need to be 4 beads/ sides - it's as many as you'd like to create a design using right angle weave or RAW. Using PRAW, your beaded structure could have 5,6,7...sides to it rather than the 4 we usually use in CRAW. I sooooooo hope I haven't confused the issue any further... they're both forms of Right Angle Weave...there's also TRAW I believe....but that's another story! ;-) x
Tried different patterns but yours are awesome ! Thank U !
So pleased to hear that you’re enjoying the tutorials Beatriz...x
What is that app or software that you used to do the illustration?
It's an app I have on my iPad called Perl'Art...x
Nice
Great tutorial. Thank you !
You are welcome Sylvia - pleased you found it helpful! x
Great tutorial!!! What size seed bead if I used a 4mm firepolish bead?
Thank you Jacqueline...you could still use an 8/0 or a 6/0...just depends on what sort of “look” you’re going for...4mm fire polished and 6/0’s will make it quite chunky...x
Thank you for such a quick response. This tutorial has inspired me to try/
What program are you using for your demo?
If you're talking about the diagram demo on my iPad...I use an app called Perlart...x
