Zosya were responsible for Angels, from a couple of years ago and one of the best looking Spectrum games I've seen. Seraphima appears to be a development of that game.
You say lever (leather) I say lever (leave her) LETS CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF!!! Excellent video. Cursed Castle and Pacman show what can really be done on the Speccy, they look superb.
But it already does (it was released in 1989) - or did you mean that the Spectrum now has a conversion that resembles the 16-bit versions of _MicroProse Soccer_ more closely?
The puzzle game to get the treaures was originally called CatTrap. I think it may have been released on msx or pc88 first but the easiest version to get is the Gameboy version.
@@chinnyvision Publicity shots back then... looks a thousand lira, cost a thousand pounds... or something. Thanks for scratching my acerbic Thursday itch as always
With Valentine's Day just around the corner (The day after my 50th birthday, fact fans - Ed.) perhaps you could showcase Sam Fox's Strip Poker, Artworx/US Gold's Strip Poker (Melissa and Suzy - yum!) and other romantically themed diversions from our tedious existences. Or not.
@@markwrightrf This won't be happening as ChinnyVision is a channel for all the family. Yes, despite UA-cam telling me the audience is 90% 45+ males I am told there are many younger viewers. Why they want to watch this crap I have no idea but there you go. We keep it all above the waist. And the bits above the waist fully clothed.
The Amigos reviewed _Seraphima_ on _Our Sinclair_ a few months back and they loved it! (m.ua-cam.com/video/mlVGn7dsRlU/v-deo.html) The Pac-Man conversion is impressive! I wish the devs had tried to get a licensing deal with Namco because their effort and the result clearly deserve official recognition! The graphics are indeed lovely in that puzzle game, it's crazy how contemporary artists have managed to make the best use of the Speccy limitations but I have a feeling that the coders may also be switching color attributes mid character to increase the number of colors (it really looks like there are more than 2 colors per 8x8 block). Thanks for the video Chinny, I will definitely be playing some of those!
I like the look of the Seraphima but it looks like it has too many flaws for me to enjoy it. Cursed Castle looks good, was that an AGD game? Not really interested in soccer or Pac-Man. Johnny The Ghost reminds me of my Jewel Warehouse games.
_Johnny the Ghost_ reminded me of a different Amstrad CPC game altogether - _Baba's Palace,_ which won the #CPCRetroDev contest in 2017 - and the Commodore 64 game _Millie & Molly._
Seraphima, of "Shadow of the bust"😂

Great little video Chinny. I always like the format of five new games for the Amstrad/Spectrum. I need to try out Speccy soccer and Johnny the Ghost.
Thanks for the compliment at 17:42!
Amazing for the speccy. Wish that was out in 89!!! Seraphima
Speccy Soccer looks great fun. Seems to capture a lot of the charm of the original that we all loved. Will be trying that
Jarring to see the Wolves team on the old Speccy having players like Hueng Hee Chan, very much the 2024 side.
Totally mindblowing!

It just proves that when developers take their time over games the results are far better & what the Spectrum can Really Do.
Also 40+ years of learning the ins and outs of the hardware as well as modern dev tools.
Thr first game looks amazing . Yes they could do with fixing the restart issue but otherwise prob the most impressive speccy game ever
To be honest I think their driving game (Northern Lights: Travel Through Time) far surpasses this technically and in terms of playability.
@@chinnyvision I'll have to check that one out too
So the Spectrum finally has a conversion of Microprose Soccer!

Funny how Jakkie Brambles now probably works in a Tesco Express while Annie Nightingale is a legend. #totesrandom #optimod

@@chinnyvision Bah Humbug. And that's not a euphemism despite sounding terribly rude.
The Radio 1 DJ lookalike in the Seraphima game;
Was it Zoë Ball??
Possibly. Also possibly Jo Whiley.
Jakki brambles maybe?

Four great games and a dodgy soccer ball game.

I thought it looked like your game except Johnny The Ghost is a conversion of an Atari 8 Bit game from the 90's. So it's purely coincidental
