    Who's name is a Coverdell Account in? When figuring the FAFSA family contribution amount any assets or savings in a child's name are penalized at a much higher % than if in the parent's names. Parents are penalized at a 4-5% of value where a child is much high 41?% without looking it up.

    Most FAFSA gurus and others say 529 plans are not good way to save for education.
