Never have I heard something so profound that completely and utterly describes me and who I am to my core and also shows me why it’s been so hard for me to fit in.. We don’t take the easy way.. We Question Everything, and Integrity and Self Respect, Self Love is more important to us than any material thing or any opinion or anyone.
Yes it’s a lonely road but that’s because we are not mindless sheep’s of a heard, we are critical thinking individuals prioritizing integrity, honor, self respect and virtue. The sheep don’t have our competence or brilliance to be able to do this and stand on their own as we do… We are the Chosen Ones.

This really hit me like a freight train today. Thank you for this.
As a Karaite Messianic Jew, just turning 53 years old, just becoming an "empty nester", I've wondered if ANYONE thought the way I thought. This really has given me something to learn from and share with others. I agree with about 95% of these teachings honestly. I've tried relationships over the past 40 years, including 2 marriages, and always felt like I could never find anyone that understood me. This all makes so much more sense now.

@@topnodtch7227 So Dogen did not call himself a Soto teacher or a Soto dis-ciple. He said, "Other people may call us the Soto school, but there is no reason for us to call ourselves Soto. You should not even use the name of Soto." No school should consider itself a separate school. It should just be one tentative form of Buddhism. But as long as the various schools do not accept this kind of understanding, as long as they continue calling themselves by their particular names, we must accept thetentative name of Soto. But I want to make this point clear.
Actually we are not the Soto school at all. We are just Bud-dhists. We are not even Zen Buddhists; we are just Bud-dhists. If we understand this point we are truly Buddhists.
Buddha's teaching is everywhere. Today it is raining. This is Buddha's teaching. People think their own way or their own religious understanding is Buddha's way, without know-ing what they are hearing, or what they are doing, or where they are. Religion is not any particular teaching. Religion is everywhere. We have to understand our teaching in this way.
We should forget all about some particular teaching; we should not ask which is good or bad. There should not be any particular teaching. Teaching is in each moment, in every existence. That is the true teaching.

I appreciate the teachings of this warrior. As it was stated, during turbulent times, it's all about survival & the strongest survive. If not, you'll become a victim. It would be nice to live in an utopian society, however, that's not my experience nor is it the experience of most men who are burdened with the responsibility of being the protectors of his family & his Community. I think it's awesome how this Samurai was able to reflect on his past, which he may have done things he wasn't "proud" of & offer wisdom through his teachings to guide warriors of the future to understand that with manhood comes responsibility. The responsibility to be strong, intelligent, resilient, confident & assertive without being arrogant, abusive, uncontrollable & unwilling to accept valid information. We've all made mistakes in life, as did he, but to learn/grow from them will allow one to create a path of redemption & progression.

Have no desires, have ideals and study them. Follow your path with loyalty to make ideals the natural possibilities. Whatever happens, accept the reality and study why things happened the way they did. And have no feelings about it.
What a beautiful life. Only issue might be that human body is weak and always tend to conserve energy. One must be courageous enough to dance with the pain. Accept the pain and build the life over it and Im guessing that making peace with pain is the only true peace that a person can ever achieve.

I can feel the lack of life experience in your voice. It's time to stop theorising about what's the way to live, and rather live. All this wisdom is the result of experience, his own experience. We must get our own, and grind that one, till we get our own juice.

Musashi wasnt a saintly honourable jesus character. He was a demon forged in the solitary forests and caves that he dwelt in. His works show how to become a demon and use isolayion to achieve mastery. Most of this is the self help crap that the guy talks about in the firat 2 minutes.
