I just discovered you channel yesterday and loving the content, but something which I'm not sure I've seen you answer is how safe is Brazil? Say, if I wanted to drive around the country, is there much risk of being shot/carjacked/mugged generally? You hear all sorts of things around Sao Paolo and Rio especially I think (is it just in the favelas). I'm more of the sort of person who likes to get off the beaten track and explore, rather than sticking to the touristy spots. Also would you recommend the rainforest to a huge arachnophobe or not?
Beautiful colonial town. That church is amazing. The only holiday I could find on google in September was Brazil Independence Day which I found out is on my birthday. Lol.
I've been living in São Paulo for the last 25 years, but I absolutely love Minas Gerais. It's my favorite state in this country for the following reasons: nicest people, delicious food and amazing weather. I'm pretty sure you both will love Capitólio.

There are a lot of colonial cities in Minas Gerais state, cause it was the main gold mining region during colonial period. Many of these cities are like Rio right early the beggining of 19th century, but after portuguese royal family stablished its place in Brazil. Minas Gerais state is also, like Bahia, a place where you see the strong portuguese catholic influence and creed, during that time.

You and Carol are so happy to be back in Brazil. Beautiful city, OMG those chocolates looked heavenly! It's very nice seeing Carol's mom & brother again since the day at the beach video way back when with her family. BTW glad you mentioned the time of season there. Seemed more like summer than winter.
