Heroes of the Dorm was such a cool collegiate competition. And Activision Blizzard discontinued it once they decided that Heroes of the storm wasn't the next big money franchise.

It's weird to think that Blizzard used to be such a loved company. They've ruined everything to such a degree that I have nothing positive for them in my mind anymore.
When I saw these videos and the blizzcon bit, I was like...... holy crap I loved this............. :(
Was thinking about this and realized how weird it was that there very likely won't be another blizzcon. We lived through a golden age and now know a world where those awesome times aren't a thing anymore.
Man, I never even got to go to one. Such a shame.
This video was harder to watch than I thought... Everything that Heroes could have been... all the hope, the excitement... everything... Even the end when he asks "are they coming back..."
It really bothers me that a MOBA that was A. Willing to take risks with unique champion design (Abathur for example) B. Didn’t overemphasize arbitrary busy work (last hitting minions) and C. Was actually focused on helping your team rather than yourself (no difference in whether you got the kill on the enemy than if your ally got the last hit) didn’t catch on more.
Not to mention different maps with unique gimmicks. Sure, some were unorthodox, but it was better than playing the same 3 lane map every game like in most other MOBAs. Also forces people to pick different teams cuz each map has its own meta
It really caught on, the issue is that it didn’t get a mega billion dollar pro scene overnight so Blizz execs canned it.
well it had a good fanbase and community. but blizzard forced the competitive scene to hard. they wanted an E sport. and the moment they realised its not gonna happen they gave up. all they wanted was to chase leag. instead of actually going for what it was. a fun casual MOBA for friends.

@Bork Bork Let's not go that far, Dr. Doom and Gloom. Teamwork might be less of a thing in video games, but a team of people can still beat out a single person any time of the week.

These are so cute but it's bittersweet. Reminds me of when HotS showed such promise. When even the game devs had clearly visible love for what they were doing and the characters they were utilizing.
I miss those days.
Seeing the early Heroes of the Storm clips compared to later ones really shows how your style became less complex yet more polished over time. Jimmity Raynor also went through a few different designs as well but seems to have followed a trend of getting more derpy with every video he is in
I love how carbor predicted and make possible so many things, like showing cho gall early on vids, the sports skins for azmo kerri and ming, a bunch of stuff

I wonder whats gonna happen to this game after that Microsoft bought Blizzard, the only MOBA i enjoyed playing, i got lvl 120 Johanna 100 Diablo and Abathur lol, kinda miss the game tbh but circumstances wont allow me to game anymore 😅
Probably good things its easy money to release champs and skins for it based on not only blizzard but all IPs that fall under the banner of microsoft thats if the deal goes through
Blizzard didn't bring any content in the last months. Last champ was hogger. No Events or anything Else. They said it's not longer worth the efford
Why people keep thinking microsoft gonna change things?! You people are naive. Microsoft buys out it's competitors, microsoft eventually become: A, a monopole or as strong as monopole. Which means nothing can threat it, and it can do whatever it likes. B, it will manipulate the market together with EA by fixing prices(It's illegal but it's hard to prove, and game industry regulators not that strong). I'm not making these things up, that's how our modern economy works, don't believe? Check it yourself.

This video makes me both happy and sad. To see that such celebration of Blizzard's IPs was thrown into the garbage and forgotten is just sad, but seeing Carbot's older animations brings such nostalgia and warms my heart.
I've loved this game for 7 years and I still do, even if I don't play it as much anymore. These videos were always a blast and something I looked forward to as a fan of the game. Thanks Carbot.

Heroes of the Dorm lasted longer then I thought. I had myself convinced it only lasted a year or two before they pulled support. Not 4.
The brawl one is still one of my favourites, the level of insanity going on there.

Carbot gave a lot of sport skins ideas for Hots and many of them are in game. I do hope to get the Arthas ice hockey skin.
I dont know, but if this game was available in nintendo switch I would gladly play it. Pokemon Unite timed matches and casual playstyle formula was pretty good imo

Well, now HotS has officially gone into maintenance mode.
The're not even bothering to remove ptr servers. while its been a year ago the last patch was and will be given anytime as long activition is active.
You have hots and starcraft (starcraft still up today the biggest player base RTS) and they are just incompetent on how to make money and just totaly do nothing about those games, even though all they complain is making money is importand, though they can't seem to do it with a big player base in there hands. Instead there quite fan of harrasing woman that work for them and bullying away all the motivated workers that once had passion for their work.

@@filnias Tbh if they just keep it as a little side project why wouldnt they. Theres no need for it to be the super big moba. Give the ppl 3-4 heroes a year. add a map every now and then and let people have fun. No need for overcomplicated balancing. No need for advertisement. A small team could pull this off even if its just a show of good will.
people still play this game. Ofc more casual then any other moba in existence, But thats also what HotS appeal is.
It is criminal neglect that not all of those "heroes of the dorm 2017" skins exist yet.

I guess the "heroes of the dorm" campaign was their last ditch effort to market the game to a young audience and inflate that player base before HACKtivision pulled the plug on any HOTS competitions... Such a sad state of affairs, but i guess those poor corporate execs gotta make more money somehow...
