- In Episode 2 of our eight-part video series on all things A. Lange & Söhne, Alp Sever of Langepedia explores the development of the German brand from 1990 to 1994. He takes a deep dive into the first collection of the brand featuring the Lange 1, Saxonia, Arkade with solid case backs, and possibly the most collectable A. Lange & Söhne, the Tourbillon Pour Le Mérite.

Alp is incredible. He is the type of individual this channel needs to pursue and stop using it's cringy in house personalities who never seem to go away.
Alp another great A Lange Sohne video. Thanks for sharing your passion and knowledge of the A. Lange Sohne brand with us.
Thank you, Ken! Thrilled to hear from you buddy, I hope all is well!
Very well done, Alp! What a “coup” in securing these four historic pieces for this installment of your documentary. Having them there with you really made it special for the viewers. Thank you for making that happen, and for creating this entertaining and informative show.
Another great episode. I learned something new about my Lange 1 - I didn’t know about the power reserve indicators and that the final 2 represent approx. 36 hours of power remaining. Super cool.
Thank you James. Hahah - when I first found this out, I thought the watch was broken, so I kept winding it :D A neat execution on Lange's part.
@@alpsever5279 Today I actually picked it up after about 36 hours of not wearing it and I remember when I put it down and it was “near the end” of its power reserve - I was ready to set the time, but then I was like hang on, it’s actually still running :) I then watched your video today and was like ahah, I get it now. Very timely 😊 you’re a wealth of information!
Super german
@@jamesgahan3021 Hahah great timing indeed!
LOL exactly! Ordnung muss sein I guess :D
Amazing video Alp. So great to hear you talk with passion about the launch pieces and to understand more about the birth of the brand. Tourbillon Pour Le Merite is truly an amazing piece but most importantly it is a totally wearable size🥃
@russell996 Thank you very much, my dear friend! Most certainly agreed. Brilliantly done as a trailblazer and still as fresh!
Minor correction: The central portions of the subdials and big date actually form an isosceles triangle and not an equilateral one…although you are not the first to mention this. Great show though!
That title shot with the macro pan across the Zeitwerk, with the camera reaching the minute window just as the hour changes over was AWESOME!! Credit to your camera operator - they deserve a raise!
Amazing vid! So cool to hear about where they raised the JLC parts and patent bin to get things started and how much Lange was able to transform those movements and crank them to 11 in finishing.
Thank you, Sir! Blümlein's reach and organization that is. And of course, often forgotten Reinhard Meis...
Another amazing video by Alp and team. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you, Sir! Thrilled to hear that you enjoyed it! more to come for sure
What a romantic story the story of L&S is. Very well presented, thank you.
Thank you Sir!
incredible episode !
Thank you Sir!
Incredible! 🙏
Too kind, buddy, I hope all is well!
@@alpsever5279 thanks my friend, I love your content. Keep it going for sure!
WOW very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
Hahah thank you, John! Dearly appreciate it!
Great video! Thank you. Have you ever covered the A. Lange Cabaret? Would love to learn more about it.
Hello Patrick, many thanks! I did in the next episode, but not quite in-depth. I'd be happy to help however I can if you could email to me via the email in the description or visit the Cabaret article at the site when I'm done with the maintenance, which should be in a couple of days!
Well done Alp!
Thank you, Sir - and for WatchBox for brilliant production!
@@alpsever5279 looking forward to 1999 episode!
My favorite make , one day I hope to own one , I know what you’re thinking , good luck with that ! , yes it’s just a dream , peace ✌️ 😎🌴
Best of luck, Sir! Would love to have a wristshot from you when that happens!
@@alpsever5279 you’ll get one for sure mate , I would for sure never forget this message , if you’ve got one , we’ll done , peace 😎
I liked Alp when he was an individual who was passionate about the brand, now like hodinkee, he's become a puppet for watchbox to push pieces, ALP, you deserve better.
Thanks for taking the time and following, Sir.
Alas, I beg to differ as no piece is pushed in any of the videos, nor at my site where I offer the pieces I love myself. Throughout videos you’re going to see quite a criticism on some pieces, but mostly praise. In the end, I wouldn’t put the nickname Langepedia if I didn’t love their watches :)
What Lange 1 reference is on your wrist, Alp?
It is a Lange 1 Soirée, Aaron. 110.029 is the reference.
I have a new Lange 1 moon phase (192.032), and I noticed that the triangles on the power reserve each represent 24 hours, and the last one 8 hours. It also states that in the manual. Was that changed with the new movement from 2015 onwards?
Hey Maximilian, right. If you compare the both generations, you are also going to see the difference between the power reserve indication as well.
Interesting
Where’s Mike? Back in Philly? Connecticut?
Who cares?
Mike is the man
We can confirm that Mike, as of this writing, is back in Philly after being in Connecticut this weekend 😉. Thanks for checking!
@@the1916company Ha! Love it. I know the segment is over but I loved the weekend market update with Mike’s opening phrase. It got me hooked.
Hot take - Lange watches look like mediocre fashion watches.
Lol, dumb comment. You obviously don’t know anything about watches. Go play with your Rolex thinking it’s something special.
@@maximilianbini8544 Your so defensive of fashion watches lol
